Whats to fault
This is an excellent product. The rice cooks well and stays fluffy for hours. Its has a range of uses and they are fun to try. The bowl is totally non stick and very easy to clean. The handle is a great innervation and protects the appliance for accidental damage.
There is no mess! It just gives steam and no extras.
Do spend any more, this is the one.

Good rice cooker but non-stick coating comes out after 2 years of usage
This is a fantastic rice cooker at the start. However, after 2 years of usage, the non-stick layer starts to come out and stick to the rice which I believe is not good for health although I carefully take care of the non-stick layer. Only use hand to wash after soaking in warm water for a few hours. I'm looking to buy an inner pot to change the existing one but could not find it from Breville.

was great, while it worked.
The rice box cooked fantastic rice, however just out of warranty it decides to give a cl error code, and sounds an alarm.
Breville couldn't tell us what the code means, and were not sympathetic to the timing of the products death.
That's pretty poor considering the price of the rice cooker.
It would make me think twice before purchasing their products again.

SONNY T. a great review contributor...
Great reviews are in here and these are great tips and pretty handy. Techniques are cost effective for we don't need to ring and pay for the repair. Easy to follow kind of advise by the contributors.
Thank you so much, my husband was able to repair our rice cooker unit at home.

perfect rice
My old Kambrook 'basic' rice cooker stopped working after about 5 years of great service... I had to replace it and bought the Breville Rice Box after seeing recommendations on here. I had no idea that it was not normal for a rice cooker to leave a layer of rice stuck to the bottom of the cooker - this thing cooks perfect, fluffy rice - I would highly recommend it - not a grain of rice was lost stuck to the bottom of the cooking bowl. Love it and felt the need to recommend it

Absolutely fantastic rice cooker
I recently replaced my old rice cooker with the breville rice box and i could not be happier. It is very easy to operate, the recipes from the manual are delicious and finally because you can cook large quantities of rice, when my sons friends come over i will be making a large batch of risotto. Thank you breville for such a great product.

Finally a rice cooker that cooks brown rice well
I mainly eat brown rice and it turns out a lot of rice cookers don't cook brown rice as well as they cook white.
I tried a number of them including a panasonic that was meant to be good for brown rice, always stuck to the bottom and had crusty bits.
This Breville was my last hope.
I'm pleased to say it met my expectations perfectly. Cooks brown rice brilliantly if you make sure you put in the recommended minimum of two breville cups.
Also great for steaming dumplings and fish. It has a permanent space on my bench as it's used so often.

This thing cooks rice!
I have owned this rice cooker for 4 months with frequent use, and I have had no problems with it. The quality of the pot really stands out compared to rice cookers I have owned previously - sturdy, and no issues with rice sticking. I cook a lot of brown rice and some white, both come out perfectly!
The only drawback is that this machine is quite large, and with only two people in my house, we are usually cooking only the minimum amount of rice in it. If you're frequently cooking rice for 4+ people this cooker is exactly what you want. ...Read more
I have not yet tried to cook anything besides rice in it yet (congee, porridge, etc) so I can't comment on cooking those meals. High quality metal pot, fantastic cooking results Quite large compared to other rice cookers1 comment

it is very short life expectation.
My BRC460 does not work and has C3 code error. I bought it in Myer 14 months ago. So, it has much shorter life expectation than other cookers made by other brands, such as Mitsubishi, Panasonic. I am very sad about BRC460. I never buy it any more. So terrible!

Rice sticks to the bottom
Very disappointed in the rice cooker since reading all these glowing reviews. Rice still sticks to bottom of the bowl and I end up having to open the lid and stir the rice once or twice. Also, I kept waiting for the cooking cycle to finish... Never clicked over to warm setting... Am I doing something wrong?

After some experimentation, I worked out it sticks to the bottom when only cooking 1 raw cup of rice. With 2-3 cups its not so bad, but does stick a little. Brown rice is ok as well. And it does click... Read more

Awesome rice cooker!
Very happy with this rice cooker. Also cooks soup, steams and makes crispy rice. We love it. Rice is soft and fluffy. Well worth the price tag :)) Just need to fund the extra cupboard space as it is big. And there is a lot of steam coming from the top so give it some space.

Changed our life.
We love Indian, Thai, and Chinese food and could never get our rice to the same quality as the restaurants. The Rice Box has changed our life. In a world where so many things can dissapoint, the Rice Box has exceeded our wildest expectations. We now have rice better than the best restaurants, better than the best take-away, and better than ever before.

Excellent
Threw out my cheap Breville R-12 after so many years of wet gluggy rice and bought this today after reading so many positive reviews. WOW, Breville you've exceeded yourself! This is a beast of a machine. Soft fluffy rice that did not stick to the base on my first try. We'll be eating rice a lot more now.

I wash my rice three times under cold water to get the impurities and starch out, and never open the lid mid-cycle. What you get is a dry fluffy rice. Perfect.BrevilleBreville

Great Product
Bought this Rice Box BRC460 recently after my other Breville died after 8 years of constant use. This one is easy to use and produces perfect rice every time. Love the program mode and the steaming options work a treat for dumplings and vegies. Purchased at Myer for $84.00, brilliant!!

Amazing!
After trying 4 different rice cookers in the last 18 months, I bought this product 2 months ago and can't believe how amazing my rice is every time. So simple to use - if you cook rice regularly for your family, it will be the best investment you can make. Superb rice every time.

Awesome Rice cooker
We bought 2 of these rice cookers in our family and love it. We bought one 2 years ago in Harvey Norman and still going as it was in day 1, and we use every day. Awesome product and recommend to buy.

Breville The Rice Box
How did I survive so long without this beautiful appliance? I have had it for nearly 5 months now and it has worked perfectly. It is easy to use, just wash the rice (white), strain, place in non stick pot and add water, set the menu and come back to perfect tasting and textured rice. We also cook brown rice in it (no need to rinse beforehand) and one of our fave recipes is Turkish Pilaf from the instruction booklet. Bought at Myer's Melbourne on sale $84

Perfect fluffy rice!! No crusty bits.
Really impressed with this rice cooker. Makes perfect fluffy white rice, no crusty rice on the bottom like the cheap rice cooker i used to have. Love the timer function - i use it a lot in combination with my slow cooker, chuck it all in the morning before work and yummy curry and perfect rice ready when i get home. I also use it a lot for sushi rice - perfect. The teflon coated bowl is of good quality - it has survived 18months of my dishwasher and still non stick like brand new - very impressed.
Stylish design, i like the cover on the power cord prongs - means you can store the power cord in the bowl without scratching the teflon. Most importantly, makes awesome rice!!

Thought i would update this review. After 5 years of use and 5 years of washing the teflon bowl in the dishwasher, It is still going strong, and all teflon intact! Highly impressed by the quality of this product. Still makes great rice.

Restaurant quality rice every time
I have had cheaper rice cookers in the past and have not been overly impressed - this Breville digital cooker leaves them for dead!
We eat a lot of rice and this appliance has taken the guesswork out of cooking it. It is perfect every time.
We have cooked a couple of different types of rice (mainly Jasmin and Basmati) and all work fine.
Some have mentioned the longer cooking time - this is a small compromise to get reliably good rice every time. Now, I just put the rice on first. The "keep warm" function is great, it doesn't matter if the rice finishes cooking before the rest of the meal (in fact it seems better if it does).
The proportion of rice to water is easy to remember and the appliance is simple to use.
