Hopeless!
Hopeless! It only toasts part of the bread or it just comes up dry and colourless. Have tried many settings without any success, should never have thrown out the old Sunbeam.
Purchased in June 2021 at Amazon for $69.00.

Toaster is a dud, Breville staff unhelpful
Bought the toaster 9-12 months ago. Yes, it's slow and they should warn customers prominently of that (which they do not, and which is the subject of many previous criticisms) but when it works it does deliver an even all over toast.
BUT: the electronics failed within a few months, so toast no longer pops up, and instead all lights flash failure. I called Breville on the presumption they may care that their product failed. They were very unhelpful so I'll try to get the retailer to fix it instead.
Purchased in August 2021 at The Good Guys for $130.00.

Finally a toaster that toasts
This toaster is fantastic, it may take slightly longer than my previous toasters, but, worth it as it toasts everything perfectly every time, from bread, crumpets to fruit loaf to bagels, it’s simply awesome, couldn’t fault it so far, it’s a bit pricey so wait for a special to buy it, well worth it !!

Love this toaster - full functionality.
I love this toaster. It was a dial on the front to select the type of bread and how much you want it cooked. There is a "bit more button". If you want to check on how it's going, you can push it up without cancelling the cooking. The thing I like best is the dial lights up to show how long it has to go. I find this really useful when I'm making breakfast & want to ensure I'm on hand to grab the toast when it's fresh and hot.

Short lifespan!
Only lasted 1 1/2 months before dying. Was very happy with performance up until then. No problem with toast time or colour. Toasted everything from white bread, grain, rye to crumpets without a problem. However, it just didn't last and won't be purchasing Breville again although last Breville toaster lasted for many years.

This is rubish dont buy one.
You have to have it on the hottest setting to get any colour in my vogules. And then it only browns up on one side and only on the top half and starts to burn it. Very diserpointed. I expected it to brown my toast on both sides but it doesn't. Last time I will buy this brand.

Decent functions
So far so good. It does what it says it does. Toast bread.
Good function how you can check your bread, Mid-toasting process and now you can pick different bread settings.
At first I was deterred from buying this toaster because of the reviews but I took the leap to update my kitchen. No regrets so far.
I will update this review if there are any issues that arise.

Absolutely hopeless.
I purchased the toaster and the jug, so they would be a matching pair on my benchtop. They were going out on sale for $129ea down from $199. I loved the look of them and thought with their original price point and even their sale price, they would have to be amazing right? But how wrong could I be. The jug has an annoying habit of not opening the lid everytime I press the button, so I have to press it again harder. I guess I can live with that if I have to because it does everything else that a jug should do, only quite a bit louder than I'd li...Read more
ke. But the toaster is just a glorified ornament that happens to match my jug. I have to put it on the crumpet setting to even get my white bread to somewhat impersonate toast. And it takes a torturous long time to do it. I haven't thrown out my faithful Morphy Richards toaster that is still going strong after 6 years but doesn't cook evenly on both sides anymore. But at least it cooks according to its settings. Their jugs however have a bad habit with the plastic see through window going brittle and rusting the metal that adjoins it at the bottom because the water leaks through it. But that's another sad story for another day.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not worth the money
My Krups toaster of 6 years was starting to take longer than usual to toast so I thought let's upgrade the Krups jug and toaster at the same time. No complaints about the Luxe Breville Jug but seriously the toaster is a not worth the money.
I filmed the Krups and Breville toasting the same piece of white bread - 2 min 9 secs (very slow after 6 years) and the Breville 4 mins 6 seconds - brand new!!! Come on this is not worth $147 AUD!! The toast looked the same, and this is double the time with a brand new toaster?? It's being returned to...Read more
morrow along with the jug and thank goodness I kept the Krups and the receipts! PS. Keep all boxes intact until you're sure you want to keep new appliances. I was almost declined a refund because I had thrown boxes out.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

High pitched squealing noise
Every time the toaster is on there is a high pitched squealing and buzzing noise until the toast is done. It is particularly disturbing for my young daughters as it obviously sounds much louder to their ears. I've contacted the store I bought it from and am hoping for a replacement. I also noticed that it doesn't toast as evenly or as fast as my old toaster (Krups) did. I'm glad i didn't give away my old toaster yet as it's better than this one. It's a shame as I like the look of it which was why we got it in the first place.

Very disapointed
Brought toaster home to use for the first time, the toaster makes a humming/buzzing noise when in use, I had bought it back to the shops to exchange for another one and had the same problem again. A toaster that cost this much should not make any noise while in use considering my old toaster was 1/3 of the price and made no noise at all. Overall the look of the toaster and functions are great, just a little bit bulky though and the noise is annoying.
