Bridgestone tyres

published

Have found these Bridgestone Potenza tyres to be good wearing with a good looking tread pattern. Previous Goodyear tyres seemed to be less satisfactory. Seemed to wear a little unevenly. Will keep buying Bridgestone tyres for the present. Have used Yokohamas and Michelins and found them good also even though they are more expensive.

Good honest tyre

published

Had Yokohamas on previously, which were quite loud. We drive fairly sedately, so can't give absolute review on wet or dry performance, but seems to be good handling in all areas, much quieter than Yokohamas and beautiful balance and ride on freeway, steering wheel shows no vibration or movement at any speed. Run tyres at 39 psi. Only real criticism, considering the way we drive, 40,000 km seems a bit early to wear out for an reasonably expensive tyre

Try another Manufacturer

32000km and was told after the service new tyres were needed as just on the legal tread limit. I drive the car very sedately.
I the dry excellent, Wet easily looses traction with minimal acceleration. I would have expected greater longevity after reading some of the other reviews??????????. These are the brand and type as fitted new. Thinking a bit or research before I replace these. From what I have read so far Michellin look promising.

i currently have these tyres on my 2016 Mazda 3 2.0L sedan.

published

I like these tyres. I think they grip well in the wet and they look quite stylish. I would have to say though that the only downside I will have to say, is they are somewhat noisy on less than ideal road surfaces (I do a lot of country driving) I have been driving now in my new car for almost a year and the tyres are still in excellent condition, so I am hoping to get at least another year or two out of them. I haven't had to replace them yet, so I will wait to see how long they last. Overall I am satisfied with their performance level.

Disappointed Dissatisfied

published

My VE SV6 came with Bridgestone Potenza 245/45 R18 tyres after only 27k kms all four tyres needed replacing, wouldn't buy these tyres again, low durability. I found these tyres ok to drive on but economically they wore down alot quicker than other tyres in the same quality & price range.

Just bought a replacement set of Potenza RE050a awz 245/45/18 for our VE SV6. Original set did 72000ks, great handling wet or dry, long wearing, reasonably quiet tyre so I could recommend these for a similar vehicle. Bridgestone Easter special was $239ea and if you buy 4 you get 1 free, absolute bargain if you ask me for a quality tyre. Hope this helps.

Pay a little extra

published

These are great all weather tires. I replaced a cheap set of of Dayton with these and the difference in grip particularly in the wet. No more under-steering or spinning wheel when on an incline of the lights.

Well worth the extra odd $70 per tire.

I have had one flat on them, but it was an obvious puncture.

So far wear seems even, but can't comment on mileage as we don't do huge KM's per year.

High wear

I have had these tyres size 235/45 R18 for just under 2 years and have done 28,000 Km. Tread is now worn down to legal level. I drive a family wagon not a race car. Expected better wear than that for $255 each tyre, current price at Tempe Tyres in Sydney.

Excellent tyre

published

These tires were originally fitted to my Commodore SS. Currently 58500 kms and tires still good for another 5000kms. Half my kilometers have been on highway. Very quiet and good handling in wet and dry conditions. Even wear; but important to rotate front to rear and maintain tire pressures on regular intervals. I use 36psi all round.
I will be replacing with same tires even though prices are a little expensive but you generally pay extra for better quality.

6 month old tyres need replacing!

published

New car was fitted with these tyres and lasted 2 years and 40000kms. We decided to go with the same tyre again and was told the next set would last longer. After 6 months and 9000kms later, both the rear tyres need replacing and apparently it is a fault with Commodores wearing out the left rear tyre quickly, however the right is almost as bad! Go figure, why didn't the last set wear out that quick? We were told we should rotate them more often.... more often than 6 months? Really?? Definitely NOT replacing with the same tyre.

Good reliable daily tyre!

published

I've used these a couple times now as a daily tyre and get quite good life considering how they're driven on. The tyre walls aren't so firm but I can live with this as the ride is good and tyre noise is minimal. wet grip is average but they have really nice control when they do reach their limit, even bald these tyres were controllable in the wet and dry...obviously if you hit a sheet of water when they were bald theyd be horrendous but overall control is really good.

expect about 30-40 000km out of them with hard driving

I've used many tyres over the years, semis, slicks and good road tyres. Although there is better tyres in the class out there, these tyres are a great overall tyre.

Ridiculously expensive and overrated

published

Original product on Commodore ssv. too soft fast wearing after two complete replacements at $1600+and numerous punctures requiring complete tyre replacement have now replaced with Dunlop direzza dz102. These are better tread pattern sport styre and at $219 ea less than half the price i cannot believe Bridgestone is still charging $450+ for such a poor performing tyre.

Less than 2 months and tread depth gone from 5mm to 3mm

published

Can't say they are durable. Bought 3 for 4 deal cost $720 dollars. Took car for service today and was told the Right Front one was only 3mm 7mm 5mm, the other three were all 5mm 7mm 5mm. Couldn't believe it, haven't hit any holes. Bought 29 April 2016, today is 16 June 2016. Never again. Will be investigating further. Was told to go and get another wheel alignment.

Never again

published

Had the tyres two weeks. Passenger front and rear both have splits and eggs in the side wall, was told by tyre power that it was most likely a pot hole, can't remember hitting any though. Bridgestone said they can do that with a pot hole! Tyres can't hold up with and bumps now have to get two replacements at my own cost. I say get a more durable tyre

These tyres wear out way too fast.

I brought these tyres for my Maserati, they didn't last 1 year less than 20,000km. Never buy them again. For the cost I would expect to get at least 50,000 km out of them. I don't my car to hard nor do I spin the wheels. I will have to do a lot more home work for my next set.

i changed to these from yokahama c drives because i can't get them any more. the potenzas are great on the road, good grip etc and i drive a lot on windy country roads BUT the noise is nearly unbearable. safety wise they are excellent but not sure i would get them again due the LOUDNESS of them which is unfortunate because i do like them, but i don't want to end up deaf!

Are they good for Honda accord my previous tryres are Bridgestone Eco EP100 225/50/R17 ?

Can't help you out there. Best to contact your local Bridgestone specialist.

Yes, they’re great for your Honda Accord - compared with the Bridgestone Eco EPs, when on Potenzas the car will feel like it’s gripping the road with a vengeance - haha.

The difference is that the Eco EPs are a harder compound i.e. they roll better, last longer - but rely on special tread patterns etc. for grip. The Potenzas on the other hand are performance tyres designed for great grip under a variety of circumstances - but because their grip eats up rubber, they wear out faster than Eco EPs. Pumping Potenzas 3-4psi higher than usual can help them last longer the Bridgestone chaps’ll tell you exactly how much pressure to use - I’ve seen people pump’em up to 45psi for Holden Commodores. If your Accord is a 3.5L V6, then around 40psi should do the trick.

Keep in mind that with tyres, it is always a trade-off between grip/performance and high mileage/long life.

If you drive around gently in the city mostly, then consider Michelin Primacy 3 STs or Primacy 4s. They’re a good compromise between performance and mileage. So are the Bridgestone Turanzas and Eco EPs.

However, if you tend to swing your Accord V6 around corners, want good performance in rain and expect braking performance, then the Potenzas are amazing - just use a higher tyre pressure than you would for the others.

I’ve responded late, but hope this’ll be of use to others.

Suggest you contact your dealer. Price will depend on size. Not sure whether they have been replaced but dealers seem to be pushing the RE002 instead for a similar price. Just replaced my RE050As with RE002. Ride is a bit harsher, noise levels similar, grip better particularly in wet. Said to also last longer. I guess time will tell.

I've just put a set on 2 weeks ago .So yes they are available .They are good tyres . A bit expensive, if you don't drive hard there are cheaper alternatives .Hankook is a very good tyre .I use them on my xw gt cruiser .Hope this helps.
