1st time insured with them.
Policy is good value. Easy to talk to over phone to organise. Have not made a claim as I've only been insured with them for a month.
Some of the reviews I have read are negative on claims, but everyone deserves at least one try.
And hopefully I never have to claim.
And if I do I hope that I have no trouble making a claim and it is honered.

It all went ok
Good value easy to organise. Company new to is so we’ll cast judgement if it continues next premium. Just hope if we have a claim the company will be just as helpful.

Home contents insurance
Lady was very helpful on the phone. This is the first time I have used this company. So can't say much more. But will be your insurance company, when my car is due.

Great because they’re cheap until you try and claim!
Why are people giving 5 stars that haven’t even tried to make a claim? Do you review a car before you drive it? No. Long story though basically they’ll do everything possible to get out of paying a claim.
My house flooded upstairs from a balcony drain getting clogged causing the floorboards to get damaged. They send around a dodgy “builder” who acts like your best mate and then claims the balcony is defective, that’s funny because I’m a builder myself and I’ve lived here for 7 years through plenty of heavy rain and it doesn’t ever come even c...Read more
lose to flooding or hold any water whatsoever, just happened this time I was away for the weekend and the drain blocked. If I argued with them or took budget direct to the ombudsman I’m sure the claim would of went through though at the time I had a lot going on and didn’t have the mental capacity to deal with it, which is what I’m guessing they bank on. If you do lodge a claim be ready for a fight is all I can say, they’re cheaper for a reason...

Was good
After comparing a number of different insurers I found that budget direct seemed to be the best value for money. Online application was also easy to complete. Happy with process.

Very easy, and quick.
Policy was good value. I was able to reduce the cost, as I knew from the Brisbane floods, that I do not flood, so could exclude that. Reduced the cost.

Affordable Home & Contents Insurance
This is my first policy with Budget Direct. I chose them because the policy was good value and the price was competitive with my previous Insurer. It was easy to apply online and I am very happy with my policy.

Can’t get better prices anywhere
We’ve used Budget since moving to Australia, a little over 5 years, for all our insurance needs. We’ve trawled through the internet for better prices but always go back to Budget. It’s easy to set up online but if you have to speak to a representative they are brilliant. They call you back when they say their going to, something very rare.

Home and Contents policy
It was easy to obtain a quote online. I made sure I was comparing exactly the same with my current policy with another company. It was much better value, so after 21 years and multiple policies with said company, I switched my Home and Contents to Budget.

Excellent experience
I was with another insurer but inquiries revealed budget direct offered an excellent policy for much less than my previous insurer. Budget direct were easy to deal with with simple, uncomplicated systems. I look forward to being a long term customer.

Easy, affordable insurance.
Polite and friendly, offering lots of guidance, simple to organise by phone and get discount after having obtained an online quote. By far the least expensive quote in comparison to six other insurers.

Value for money
Other companies overinflated the dwelling value and you were unable to assess your own replacement value. I have built several homes and the one I had insured. My realistic replacement cost has allowed me to insure my property at a realistic cost thus a realistic insurance premium. Matt

Hi Jimmy,
I'm both sorry and surprised to hear that your claim was rejected as described.
If I'm understanding your review correctly, Budget Direct has denied a claim for theft and vandalism based on your roof being of a different material to the one you declared? If so they are likely in violation of section 54 of the Insurance Contract Act.
In case you haven't already, you can have your claim reviewed by:
1) lodging a complaint with the insurer's internal dispute resolution service. If that fails -
2) escalate by complaining to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
It may also be worth getting legal advice.
Let us know how you get on.

( From reading the comments on this site, I am concerned about going with Budget for House and Contents insurance which we pay annually - sounds like they just think they can draw on your account for the next years renewal cost. )

Two days since my question was asked on the same subject.
Surely someone can give us some information re Budget Direct renewal procedures- particularly a representative from Budget Direct.
no they send out the renewal notice first which tells you your new price and the date it will be deducted
Was talking to them on the phone few days ago and they do have a''auto renewal system '' which you can opt out of BUT MAKE SURE you ask for it if and when you purchase the insurance

From reading the comments re renewals:
- do Budget Direct automatically try to charge your annual cost from your account?
- or do they send out renewal documents advising the new renewal prices and you then choose if you wish to renew?

no they give you a few weeks notice of your new premium being deducted and the price
Thanks for your reply.
This was the only major issue that we had with changing to Budget Direct and suspect this may be an issue if you pay monthly. As we pay annually we hope this will not happen without prior notification.
It was interesting to see that someone else had the same question. Hopefully, there will be confirmation on this site from Budget Direct regarding the renewal process.
Hi i replied to someone else on this issue just a little while ago .Should help
