First section covering 600sqm no problem. Second section 250sqm bubbly and rough

published

We sanded down a mezzanine floor last year and coated it with the oil based CFP, over 600 sqm, no problem, one coat, very smooth.

Did a floor expansion and new area only 250sqm, CFP application, heaps of bubbles and whole floor is extremely rough, same floor material. I

Purchased in September 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$220.00.

It's not clear! It makes the floor look dreadful.

published

Their is a stain running through this and what happens when you apply it to a kitchen floor as I did all the woods come up in a dark tint, looks disgusting! I had the rep out to look at the product the liquid in the tin is a darkish oily looking liquid which is certainly not clear! Could not get my point across to the rep who still maintained their is not staining or tinting going on, despite the observations i pointed out to him.

Have a small house I re sanded the floorboards and used this product was perfect for 1-1/2 weeks then white milky parts started showing all over the floor. Has been 4 months now and milky areas are still all visible. Dissatisfied.

Perfect product

published

For this product 10/10 if you prepare and ensure you have no residue from wax get a professional opinion then do the job you should get the same result as I did. A perfect Finnish it was a lot of hard work but using cabots floor finish oil base was the perfect answer for my floors. Pictures to prove it. I got mine at Bunnings as well.

Awful results. Waste of time and money.

published

I took a week of work to strip and coat a mahogany parquet floor. Product is impossible to apply without orange peeling and streaks despite being applied at correct temperature. Very annoyed. Now have to move the family out again to recoat floor. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless I didn't like them much.

Good stuff

published

I often use this stuff and it always gets a good result and is very tough. Should last 10 years if done correctly.

Ignore most of these negative reviews, typical weekenders not doing a good job and then blaming the product for the poor result they get. Preparation is key.

Total waste of time and money

Bought the oil based because it's meant to be more durable.. spent over a week doing our floors only to have it covered in scratches within the month.. scratch resistant shouldn't even be put on the product... It will cost me more than it's worth because now we have to redo our floors.

Tough and long lasting finish

published

I've used this oil based finish 3 times. First time was on a Jarrah floored house - the result was spectacular & it did a good job bringing out all the colours and grain of the timber. Didn't use the hardener which we were to regret a little bit later. Second time, with hardener on our current pine timber floored house and bamboo bench top. Looks fabulous & seriously, no scratches at all, even after 4 years now.

Only downside is the smell, which also hangs around for quite a few weeks.

Difficult to use

I much prefer Feast Watson Floorclear. Flows and self levels much, much, much better.
I will never use this Cabots product again, as it's grabby and won't flow well.
It lasts well yes but Feast Watson will give you a much better finish without the heartache.

The best floor product I've used

published

I had my hardwood floors professionally fine sanded 18 years ago. I then applied 3 coats of CFP floor oil based gloss with the hardener added. The passageway, dining room and lounge still look beautiful, The kitchen has some wear but it needs recoating as some cabinets have been moved. I think 18 years is fantastic value.
Reasonably quick to do and many years of pleasure.
Skintastic dripped on kitchen floor dissolved the coating overnight but hardly Cabot's fault.

CFP Floor Oil Based

We did our lounge room we have a small house and it is in the middle of our home we have small kids and 2 Small dogs what is the absolute least amount of time we can move our furniture back and have the dogs inside if it’s more than 3 days is there a faster drying/ curing clear coat we could use we have just put a oil on the wood to stain to a darker colour

Hi there,

Thanks for your question. For all of our flooring coatings, it is a 7 day curing process. This is the reason as to why we recommend waiting 7 days before replacing any furniture. As you will run the risk of damaging/indenting the coating if furniture is replaced before this time.

Unfortunately if you have used an Oil based stain, there is no other top coat you can apply that will give you a quicker dry time.

Please give us a call on 1800 011 006 so we can discuss this further with you.
Our operating hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am to 7:00pm, Saturday 8:30am to 3:00pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm AEST.
