Best printer for home I've had.

published

This is a home printer that was easy to setup and Bluetooth connect to my laptop. Print quality is good enough for me. I like the paper cassette as it is out of the way underneath so can be left there, not hanging out collecting dust. The LED screen is easy to see/read. Of course the ink provided is minimal so just purchasing now the XL cartridges, almost the cost of the printer. Build quality feels a bit light but nothings broken yet.

Purchased in November 2021 at BigW for $72.00.

Nice wireless printer

published

A competent printer and scanner for home use.

It provides good quality colour and black and white printing with double sided defaults. A nice touch. Minor quibbles, print quality is set to draft so you need to change it each time you want to get a good quality print. Also the paper holder has a cover and sits under the return tray meaning it is not quick and easy to reload paper. But if you print infrequently this is not a huge issue.

On the upside wireless connectivity to iPads and computers is excellent.

A HOPELESS printer

published

I have recently purchased a TS5160 from the fact that I have had a few of these over the years. This one is absolutely HOPELESS. I have re-installed it completely 4 times now and it still tells me that it is not powered on when I go to print. I have also used a full cartridge of ink as it goes through a complete cleaning cycle every time I turn it on. I have probably managed to print 20 pages maximum.

Purchased in March 2021 at Office Works for $100.00.

Unreliable printer - useless warranty

published

Made the mistake of buying a TS5160 for a low-use scenario, failed after around 20 pages, warranty essentially useless as the stores dont handle them, and in my case it requires long drive to rarely open office of support company in another town. I'd recommend finding a printer from a company that supplies a usable warranty.

Very good printer

published

This has been a good buy. First time set up a little complicated. But, once installed, it scans, prints and copies well via Wifi and Bluetooth from both laptop and mobile phone. Lots of options. Pretty quiet compared to other printers I've used. No paper jams or any other problems.

The most frustrating un-user friendly printer scanner I have owned.

published

Directions confusing.
Constant error messages about paper not loaded, when paper IS fully loaded correctly...then printing will not begin until paper is reloaded.... when paper is reloaded, still does not print.
Problems with scanner...error message 'not connected to computer' when it is connected to computer.
Constantly needing to call assistance line. Each time taking over an hour to resolve each issue.... disconnect and reconnecting and same messages reappearing.
Also can only scan ONE page at a time.... must manually feed multiple pages one by one to plate glass for individual scanning.
Ridiculous waste of time.
Very disappointing and flimsy looking machine.

My ink ran out, got it refilled at cartridge world, ink lasted about 15 pages, only one of colour. Son in law refilled them although the colour was still half full.
Now printer will not recognise they are full, have tried turning off waiting and turning on but still says the ink has run out replace cartridge? Any suggestions as I’m ready to throw it out have just spent $65 on ink for 15 pages! Thanks
Cheryl

You buy the ink on EBay for about $10 for a set. Do not get them refilled. I have used hundreds of ebay cartridges on a different model Canon with no problems. Make sure you buy them with chips.

Thanks very much, I finally found that you have to over ride the problem by holding the stop button for a few seconds. But think for the extra couple of $$ will stick to the genuine ink. Thanks again.
