My Razorback cuts thick heath, sags etc no worries on my property but there’s constant punctures - the tyres are not robust with the treads so wide. Is there a heavy duty tyres available?

1 answer

Hello LJB,
There are other tyres available however the more heavy duty ones wont have as much traction.
Some other options are to solid fill the tyres with foam or Tru Blue goo. Your local dealer should be able to assist with these options, alternatively contact us on 1800 088 567 or [email protected] if you would like to speak to a product representative.

G'day Team
I have just purchased a secondhand well used Razorback CMX1402H 14hp with 910 hours on the clock but no owner's manual, service manual or workshop manual. My question is are there any manufacturers manuals available to know what, when and how to service and maintain mower ?
Thanks.

Hello Marko,
The new transmission is manufactured by Canycom. It is very similar to the Hydrogear BDR325 but Canycom tell us there are improvements in the unit they build.

How you comparing cmx186 2016 and 1402 with new Honda engine, comparison, which one is better and more reliable, any ones can help asap, I am just about to buy one and confused.

The 18hp engine is more powerful to get over and out of difficult terrain and will mulch with greater torque. Both engines are efficient and reliable. The extra costs are worth the purchase.

Razorback
Razorback AustraliaRazorback

Hello Majid S,
The CMX186 has now been replaced with the CMX1808 which is powered by a Vanguard 18HP engine. Both the 186 and 1808 have twin cylinder engines around 18HP whereas the 1402 is a single cylinder 14HP engine. The higher horsepower twin cylinder engine will make heavy going and steep hills more manageable if this fits within your budget.

Hello Marley,
The battery is located below the headlight. To access it you pull the front cover above the headlight forwards and then pull it upwards. It takes a bit of force.
There is an instruction decal at the rear of the front cover outlining battery removal.
If you need any further assistance please give us a call on 1800 088 567.

Search for each on the internet and just compare the specs:
https://www.braschs.com.au/mowers/all-terrain-mowers/awd-all-terrain-mowers/razorback-cmx186-awd-all-terrain-mower/

https://therazorback.com.au/product/cmx186/ this is the 1808 with the spec sheet here
https://therazorback.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/CMX1808-2.pdf

From quick glance they both look the same - the 1808 model was not available when I purchased mine many years ago. Mine is a CMX186 and looks like the 1808 and the other 186. The only difference that stands out is that the CMX186 has a Robin EH63DS engine (Mine is a Subaru Robin Engine) but the 1808 has a 4WD Vanguard which I think is a Briggs and Stratton engine

Hi, any idea why the 1402 has had its Subaru engine replaced by a Honda unit? What impact has the change had ? Have there been any other changes in the new model?

Also, is anyone in a position to compare the Crossjet 4x4 with the Razorback CMX 1402?

Thanks.

Razorback AustraliaRazorback

Hello John, Thank you for your enquiry. Subaru is ceasing production of that engine. The new Honda unit is a very strong unit with some field reports suggesting it may have a little more power than the Subaru unit. Both are equally reliable engines. There have also been some small improvements to the machine, including improved guarding under the machine, a more comfortable seat and an improved latching system on the side flaps.
In regards to your question about the Crossjet, we would encourage you to get a demonstration of both units so you can see the differences first hand. We offer obligation free, on-site demos of these machines. To arrange a demo, please give us a call on 1800 088 567.
Thank you,

Hi Tania, unfortunately I’m from the UK and have a place in Portugal that needs clearing. Getting a demonstration is going to be problematic and it also doesn’t answer the question about parts availability, self maintenance and servicing. I think ground clearance will be important and it seems that the Razorback is better in this regard.

Hello John,
As the Australian distributor, we cannot sell or service outside our territory. It would be best for you to contact a local supplier of these machines and request a demonstration from them.
However for any machines sold within Australia, we are committed to maintaining the availability of parts and servicing.

Hi. I have a CMZ1402 which has become more difficult and now impossible to start. I have charged the battery and changed spark plug but does not help. I noticed that I have to increasing pull harder on the choke to make it start until now, so I suspect it is a choke cable related issue. Can you advise how to adjust the choke cable please? There seems to be a lot less resistance when pulling the choke knob out. Adrian

All Terrain CMX186

My revers/accelerator pedal on my Razorback CMX186 just failed (bent I think) while I was mowing and I could not slow or stop it with the pedal and I ended up driving through a wire (fortunately not barbed-wire) fence breaking the wire with my forehead. The only way I could stop the mower was to turn the motor off. I have emailed my local mower shop but as it is ANZAC Day I won’t get a reply until at least tomorrow. I see from the Internet that it is recognised that the CMX186 has a weakness in the metal of the accelerator/reverse pedal. Could you tell me please how will this be fixed for me? That is, will the whole mechanism be replaced? Can you also tell me if I have to pay for this or is it fixed free of charge because it is a design flaw?

Razorback AustraliaRazorback

Hello Julie,
Thank you for your question. The failure you have described isn't consistent with the few number of bent pedals we have experienced. Bent reverse pedals are a result of excess force being applied to the reverse pedal, which result in a lack of max reverse speed, not what you have described. Could you please contact us direct on 02 6923 0000 and we will work through this with you?
Thank you

I was mowing flat ground with just grass on it. What ‘excess force’ could occur in just taking my foot of the accelerator and trying to reverse as I was tidying up around a tree near my fenceline?

Julie H.
Julie H.

I would like to have my questions answered online as I think everyone else needs to know how this will be addressed. It is interesting that you say it must be because of ‘excess force’ applied to the reverse pedal, where as the local dealer when he called today in response to the email I sent yesterday was that I must have ‘smashed into something’.

Hi, I am interested in a 1402 for my 5ac property. I have the grass under control now so would like to know if I can get turf tyres fitted. The steepest parts on my property are dam walls and a bank below the house. I want to use it for mowing the lawns around the house as well. So want the best cut possible with no damage to the lawns from the tractor tyres?
Regards, David

3 answers

dgillett290

I don't know if turf tyres on the razorback would work as well. The tyres are designed for traction and turf ones may not provide the grip and control. Thereby they would slip and ruin the lawn. But that's not what I got the razorback for. For lawns alone I would just still to a good rideon mower. But that said I use mine on my lawns.

Terry. S
Terry. S

I don’t have any issues with the oem tyres on the lawns as long as I mow when it is pretty dry. If it’s wet the tyres may damage the lawn depending on the slope and load on the rear wheels.
Flat running is not a problem.
