An average experience I'm afraid.
I received far too many warnings that carsales "hadn't heard from (me) for a while" and therefore, Carsales was going to delete my ad' if I didnt log in and ask for an extension.
What would have happened if I was on holiday or in hospital? I'd lose the ad!
For this reason, I've given Carsales a 3-star rating only.

Happy with the result
Placed ad and within 30 mins free videos had been created for me to select from. 12 hours later I had an inspection, offer and sold while a second offer was being made in background.

Simple and quick.
I advertised the car for sale on Saturday evening, the Ad was approved Saturday evening. George called this morning, he viewed the CRV from around 2:15 pm and it was sold at around 3:00 pm and the transfer done at Service NSW. Money (cash) was in the bank at 3:55 pm. Plus there were 3 other enquiries to the Car sales Ad. In summary, simple and quick. Best Regards David

Over Priced because they have the market
Most expensive site to sell your vehicle. Dealerships also have to pay per lead it was about $66 per lead when I worked at a dealership that is why you have to put a lead through to see the dealership name. Other sites are cheaper and just as good I wouldn't use again and cant wait for the other sites to gain traction.

Rubbish website
While selling a recent model Euro SUV 30% of the listings in my state for the same vehicle were incorrectly categorised. These were lower spec models listed as the higher spec. Carsales just lets the vehicles sit their in the wrong category even after being notified of the incorrect listings.
Additionally the messaging system is rubbish. I have not been notified of messages and sellers and buyers I've contacted directly (SMS and phone) have told me the same.
Rubbish product dressed up as premium.

generally pretty good, a few minor issues
Having an interest in cars, I use this app to browse rather than buying a car. The app was great at the start and saving cars wasnt an issue. Now tho, Ill save a car and then have a look at my saved cars list were only around half of my saved cars will actually appear. Cant complain too much as Ive gotten fuel discounts from the app. Customer service is great and I can still view the cars I want, they just wont appear in the saved cars list. All in all, its pretty good.
Kate has been helping me with the problems since I published the review, great customer service and Im sure once the bug is fixed, this app will be be great.

Carsales exploiting car dealers in australia
Carsales, shame on you. Be fair, be descent.
Talking on behalf of car dealerships in australia.
I would like to say but carsales network is abusing car dealers with their ($50 fee per inquiry). Most if the inquiries done are fake, time wasters, silly offers. Anyone could pretend making inquiries, who know if carsales hire people to spam dealers with fake leads which you have no objection for rebate.
I believe carsales should only charge their fee to a dealer if and only if the car is sold (same way salesman get commission or bonus for it). Instead leaching money from dealers using fake leads.
At this moment, the biggest loss for all dealership comes from carsales fees with low results on real inquiries.

Easy to use website, hilarious free car ad.
Good exposure, good customer service and easy enough to do (also I loved the hilarious movie free ad!). The instant carfacts option is also helpful. I did however get spammed twice by fairly convincing scammers immediately and I believe I shouldn't have to pay extra for a security service when I'm already paying a significant fee to advertise the car on a secure website. Website security from scammers should already be included in the fees.

Wasn't worth the cost of the listing
We received zero worthwhile enquiries from the Carsales.com.au listing despite realistic pricing. Much more response from utilising free sites like Gumtree and Facebook using the same price, photos and description. All forms of the listing were paused or deleted the same amount of times when we were not going to be around for a period of time. When you consider it costs a not insignificant amount just for a basic listing on Carsales.com.au it's hard to imagine we would use it again when there are free alternatives that give better outcomes.
