Suburb listing
I do not understand what is so hard about listing the suburb, it is waste of everybodys time if you cannot list the suburb. Had a look at a car at a dealer the other day and the price listed on car sales was different to what was presented at the dealership. Very disappointed in using car sales.

Hi I would like to clarify, I only put in a radius of 50ks, but living on the northside of Brisbane a car in Ipswich is more of a pain to go and see then one located at Caboolture for example. Carsale... Read more
s is the only selling format I know off, that hides the suburb and it is very frustrating, even Ebay gives you a better idea of where products are located. ThanksSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

CarSales Hidden Charges
Sent some enquiries to dealers selling the type of car I wanted as I wanted to trade in my current one.
Was shocked to learn that each dealer I contacted was charged $45 for my enquiry.
Because CarSales doesnt list the exact suburb where the car is or tell you who the dealer is some of my enquiries were a waste of my time and their money.
CarSales enquiries to private sellers are free plus the private ads list the sellers name and location.
Im not a fan of car dealers but this sounds like a rip off to me.
I did end up with a car from a dealer - that I found on Gumtree...

Hi Arthur, as mentioned in my response to your question, we understand that there's no one size fits all for dealers so we have a range of plan options for them to choose from depending on their needs... Read more
. Our private sellers also have a range of ad types and upgrades they can pay for to suit their needs (you can find these on our 'Sell my car' page if you're interested). To find sellers closer to you, I suggest using the Location filter to find sellers within 10km to your postcode (or wider if it suits you). While you didn't find it on carsales, congrats on the purchase and thanks for your feedback :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Rip off fees & no help with selling
Firstly I put my photos up & Carsales put blurring over the whole front of my car (not just the plate) then they did nothing to help me sell it. They add great price tags on other cars in the same category as mine, that are more expensive than mine, with more kms than mine yet I dont get a tag on my add which is actually the best value in its category & $1000-$4000 cheaper than the competition. I cant see the value for my $68 I spent on this add.

le to get your photos fixed up for you. As for good price/great price, these are based on an algorithm that looks at other cars in market. It looks at make, model, badge, engine, mileage, transmission and standard features but it doesn't consider extras or modifications. As part of your ad package you have access to Price Assist (under Manage Ads > Ad Stats) which will show you where you stand relative to other cars in market at any point in time :) Thanks Lisa and good luck with the sale!

Carsales gave me lots of low ball offers of sales people
The site itself is good, great concept, easy to use and I got a lot of enquiries through carsales. Yet almost all of the offers coming through carsales were "low ball" offers from obviously professionally working buyers trying to dump the price, so worthless for me. I do not blame carsales for the kind of offers as it is not in their power to restrict access to pushy and rude (obviously professional in this business) sales people. On some occasions they would even work with several phone numbers trying to manipulate me into selling your car und...Read more
er value. From carsales in three months of advertising I got two genuine enquiries yet neither of those were willing to pay my asking price, which was a good price according to my mechanics and to the carsales research tool as well as red book (my asking price is 3.000$ under the red book guide price). In comparison I got much less enquiries through facebook and even less enquiries from having my car parked at the road, but those were the good enquiries of genuinely interested private buyers offering a reasonable price. People saw my car on the side of the street, came, done a test drive bought the car. Old school is the way to go. Side of the road, not online. I am based at rural south coast, maybe internet selling works for city locations, definitely does not work for rural. Again it is not carsales fault what sort of feedback your ads generate, yet for me it was a waste of money, so I can not recommend it to anyone.1 comment

- Verified customer
Not as good as it once found it.
I received no real enquiries other than online scammers and predatory auction yards despite sensible and realistic pricing. My previous experience selling on this platform several years ago was good. However, my thoughts now are that they may have lost their market share of the buyers to other free online selling platforms such as gumtree. I complained to their customer service and was told that I needed to spend additional funds to upgrade my listing as this was my only avenue to rectify the poor response to my ad. That is not helpful.

Sold my car through carsales.com.au
Listed my car on carsales.com.au, carsguide.com.au & Autotrader and Gumtree, but got all replies through carsales.com.au and none though the others. Used their messaging service exclusively and sold my car sucessfully after inspection . Was contacted by several dealer companies but they were only offering peanuts.

Successfully sold
At the start I had no real view as to what the vehicle should be priced at. My initial price was too high, and Carsales feedback resulted in an immediate price adjustment.. With very few early responses I progressively revised the price until I got a lot of interest. Then success. Thank you.

Terrific Site To Use
Carsales.com.au is a terrific site for selling motor vehicles. This is the second vehicle I have sold on here in the last 12 months and the customer service from the carsales team is fantastic.
I would highly recommend to my family and friends to sell their cars on this site.

Would never go past this site to sell another car.
We purchased our replacement car through Carsales.com.au so decided use them to sell the old one. The car sold incredibly quickly and we had quite a few genuine enquiries. The website is very professional and easy to use, both transactions were incredibly smooth with no problems. I highly recommend this site.

Good site but FB marketplace is better
I paid $68 for my ad on the site and got zero inspections after two weeks while FB marketplace had over 20 enquiries and many inspections. Needless to say I sold my car to a person through FB not carsales.com. Once upon a time coming on this site to purchase cars is the way to go, but reality is if you selling a cheap car that's under 10k, just use FB you prob will get more enquiries. I wish I never wasted my money on here. However good website though.

The only way to sell your car !
I have had great success selling my cars over may years using Carsales. Because you can attach a heap of photos potential buyers know what the car looks like before they come out and see it. Usually the first person to see it purchases my vehicles.

Ease of use.
The carsales site is easy to use & once your ad is set up it's there until it is sold. You can easily edit & update details and the weekly stats email is excellent to keep you up with how things are going. We are not very computer literate but found it very easy to set up and are very happy with all communications & how our ad was managed.
