Get rid of this card if you have one
My pensioner father had a Coles Mastercard until his death in May last. He used to pay the full amount due at the end of every month. The estate received an overdue notice for $30 in July. As executor I offered to pay it out of my own funds but was just asked for a death certificate. Next thing my mother (also a pensioner) gets a demand from a debt collecting agency (Phillips and Cohen) for $2617, with no explanation of how they arrived at that figure. Even if the earlier demand was just for interest, at 20% interest that's a debt of of $150, n...Read more
ot over $2000. I've explained to them that my father's small estate was swallowed up by funeral expenses but they are still hounding my mother. I also asked Coles Mastercard to explain and got no reply. A very distressing situation for a bereaved family.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

practically can not be contacted unless an emergency
The company closed most contact services currently. The phone system hangs up if not deemed emergency and the email system says try later mostly. I realise services may limited but you can’t ignore your customers for weeks. I have wasted too much time trying to resolve an issue.

Loved this card until...
I have had a Coles Mastercard for many years however since it has been taken over by Citibank I have been far from happy.
In fact I had been avoiding Citibank due to poor experiences previously.
Their website is horrible, their service is horrible.
As I write this I am about to close my account with them. There are no advantages having a Coles Mastercard just grief.

The worst! If you want a company who cancels your card for no reason leaving you with no credit card for 2 weeks.....
They cancel your card for no reason leaving you without a credit card. Have to setup all direct debits again. Terrible support, they cant understand you and have really poor telephone line

The best part is saying goodbye
The website is an absolute disgrace and I would think deliberately designed so that you cant keep track of what you owe. I dont understand why it is so hard for them to have an account statement that just says what the balance owing is, but of course if we knew that we would be less likely to use the card, wouldnt we?
After enduring this card for 3 years we managed to cancel it. Even that is hard because they tell you to call but there is no option for cancelling cards. So you have to pretend that you have lost it to get on to a human to ca...Read more
ncel it. More filthy tactics from the provider? But I would have to say that the feeling of elation cancelling the card is almost worth the misery of having it. I actually feel as though I have achieved something escaping from its clutches. So the best part of having the card is not having it any more.- Everyday Expenses

perfect
I have been using coles credit cars for years now. perfect for our family, I have chosen the no annual fee card with paying the full amount owing every month. also, get a reward point for using the card, every dollar spent you got 0.5 points. meaning monthly you spent 3000 dollars, you will get 1500 points, over a year you got more than 100 dollars for just using the card. love this card. recommend to everyone

Invited to a "savvy way to save on interest" to convert my credit card balance to an instalment plan AT 19% INTEREST!!!
Their sales tactics are predatory in my opinion.
I received an email selling the "benefits" of entering into a fixed payment plan over 60 months (5 years).
When you read the details, it's at 18.99%... just lower than their normal interest rate of 19.99% on purchases!!
But the email is titled, "A savvy way to save on interest". Umm... no, it's not!!
The only people that would lock themselves into such a horrible plan over 5 years are people that don't understand or carefully read exactly how much of a rip off that plan is. Most other credit card lenders will offer a "fixed payment plan" at 5%, 8%, or even 10%.
It's an insult to offer 1% less than the already expensive credit card rate....Read more
In my opinion they are selling the obvious benefits of entering into a fixed payment option, but without offering the cheaper interest rate that will actually benefit you. It just locks you in on virtually the same rate as your card interest, but for 5 years (which I'm also guessing if you pay out early will mean paying out the interest over those 5 years plus other fees). Don't fall for it! Citibank (who are the lenders behind Coles Mastercard) are even worse than the Big 4. Avoid.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Account sent to hardship for 36 dollars overdrawn
I've had this card when it was originally distributed by Myer. I've never owed any money, I always pay the closing balance every month. Over Xmas I purchased things that had to be returned & took time to receive a credit. So purchase were still made, never declined. I receive a letter saying my account is in hardship for $36 overdrawn.
Staggered. Why wasn't a purchase declined if I'd gone over my $1000 limit. I am stunned, I've since paid over $500 plus the credits to come of $400. You'd think that purchases might be declined if it was close to going over.
Anyway over 30 years a customer, never in debt, never owed money & account in hardship for $36. Unbelievable

Let Down
When I was scammed online I wrote a complaint letter to ColesMastercard because my MasterCard is linked to PayPal they referred the complaint to PayPal even though PayPal suggested that I try to get my money back via my bank in this case Coles MasterCard I had to delete my MasterCard from PayPal to force ColesMastercard to investigate the matter through THEIR bank (Citibank) because Coles MasterCard are playing ping pong with PayPal the matter has dragged on and on .Ever since ColesMastercard started using Citibank it has gone downhill fast the...Read more

Would be zero if it was possible
So context: I received this card in April 2022 back when I was working an unstable job (that I left in July for mental health and workplace conflict reasons). Payments up to that point were on the nose, and I didn't notice anything.
Then when I actually needed the line of credit after being on Newstart (poor decision, I know) and taking a personal holiday to recharge, I found myself down to a small amount. So I meet the minimum monthly payment of $77, and I thought it would be okay, right? Wrong.
They decide to charge the ENTIRE previous cred...Read more
it balance of $3,803.13 anyway, leaving my bank account in debt of $3,255. Was not expecting this from a credit card, particularly as most cards I've seen have gradual payment lines. I also get a lot of unsolicited calls asking me to try to agree to a 60 month payment plan. It's not even the overseas call centre that bothers me or the strong accents (I can understand a lot of strong accents, and every company does this offshoring to save money for their bosses), it's the fact their call lines are such poor quality, I cannot even hear them! I've put a form into financial hardship (now awaiting a response), and once I find stable work again, I'm paying it all off ASAP and gonna cancel the card. But seeing from other reviewers here, it's easier said than done. Save yourself future stress, and either keep with your savings accounts, or look elsewhere for credit cards. Their offers and Flybuys links are tempting (trust me, that's what hooked me in), but it's not worth it. Even for credit card companies, they're hopeless. Never again.- Everyday Expenses

Incompetent, dishonest, worst customer service ever
Incompetent staff, that are dishonest, never get back to you. Do not ever get this card when you try and close account they make your life a living hell. Dont understand what the terms and conditions mean and think internal processes override legislation. Worst customer service ever, you would get better treatment at McDonalds.

Not low rate actually
Services are good combined with Cole's sign up offer is a big advantage. But interest rate is bit high could have been actually low as the name suggest. Good for daily shopping not ideal for international travel and payments.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!
instead of doing a 1 single direct debit - they deducted it 5 X times on the same day, and it put my balance on negative. I have been trying to fix this since 2 weeks now and no body has any answers and they keep transferring me to different departments.
So NOT HAPPENING COLES!!!

A good card but the worst customer service
collecting points on a no annual fee card is great. However, the customer service is awful. The telephone system just does not work: You get disconnected 90% of a time. They are also no logical menu options. Press 1 for the automated service. Press 2 to report a card stolen. That's it!

Not great
Doesn't have much member benefit. I could use coles flybuys card with the benefit available on the card without paying annual membership fee. Customer service is not great, and there is no app to track your current spending. Not excited about the user experience at all
