I have used Columbus Direct as my travel insurance provider for years and have always been extremely happy with them. Not only is Columbus Direct the best priced insurance but the website is easy to navigate and if I need to ring the company the people are friendly and efficient to deal with. I will continue using Columbus Direct for years to come.

Best service ever
Best ever service to make a claim. Will use Columbus Direct for all future travel insurance. Staff was great and very helpful about a claim for medical expenses whilst on holiday in Canada.

I believe I acted too hastily and in hindsight consider the price was higher than the competition. The extra cost for disclosing a diabetic problem pushed the cost far higher than I expected. I will be more prudent next time.

Good product - not suitable this time.
Returning customer. I have made one previous claim which was settled quickly and easily.
Very easy to arrange cover online and very competitive on price. Unfortunately, on this occasion I found I needed to cancel the policy a few days after arranging and paying for the cover.
CD staff made for an easy, no-fuss refund transaction.

Very reasonable price for our trip.

Columbus Direct has an accessible customer service, online and over the phone.
The policy was easy to set up. I'm still uncertain if it is of good value as some 2 years plus back I had to cut short my holiday while overseas and returned to Sydney for urgent medical attention. After I saw the claim form and information needed to be filed and without clear guidance I gave up filing the claim (for non medical expenses). I just didn't have the energy to go emailing back and forth with the claim agent acting for Columbus Direct.

Excellent value for money
After examining many different policies, I found that Columbus Direct was the best value for money. The rental car excess was adequately covered and the policy did not discriminate regarding my age.

Very Easy to apply on Line with a pre existing condition
It was very easy and organised, found on line for small cruise domestically. Not sure how International annual would go with a pre existing condition. I cannot make any more words to reach 30

Determined not to compensate and redirect blame
I have spent hours and several emails on gaining under $100 for accommodation from Columbus direct for being sent to another opposite direction destination . I stilll doesn't understand why this happened and my ticket was not released for my flight by another airline. I was sent on a 50+ hour trip, over 2 days, without a shower or accommodation from Canada to Australia when I purchased a 30 hour trip itinerary. ll boarding passes, itnineraies and payment details, including the accommodation receipt to validate what had happened. My check-in number confirmed that I was not late for the flight. I would not reccommend Columbus direct. Spend your inurance dollar elsewhere.1 comment

r sure. As you know, the delay in your departure time may mean that you’re eligible to claim for our Travel Delay benefit. To determine if this is the case, we need to find out why the delay happened, so we can check it is a covered reason. We understand you’ve tried to get this information from the airline, but haven’t received an answer/explanation from them. Unfortunately, we can’t pay out on a claim without checking that the event is covered. Part of this process is understanding the reason the problem occurred. However, to save you having to follow up with the airline, we’ve now also contacted them on your behalf to try and get that information. I have used Columbus Direct previously but went away as we use an annual policy and previously their trip limit was 35 days which we can easily exceed. The new 60 day policy is great thanks.

Simplest, cheapest and best online travel experience - been using them for years!

Hi Jenni,
The price displayed on our online quotes is the total price for the number of travellers entered. So when requesting a quote for 2 people, the price displayed is the total price for both.
It’s worth noting that our policy cover limits and excesses apply per person. For Annual Multi-trip policies each adult is considered separately insured, and so you don’t have to be on the same trip for cover to apply.

I have insured with you in the past. I am now 60yrs old with diabetes Type 1 and multiple sclerosis, with no admissions to hospital for more than 30 yrs. Can I still be covered if I wish to take out a policy?

I have previously had a policy with you. Now I have reached 60yrs, with both Type 1 diabetes & MS am I able to purchase travel insurance? I have not been in hospital for more than 30yrs & am well.

Our Annual Multi-trip policies and some sports cover add-ons, however, are only available to those aged under 70.
