Comfortis Killed our 1 year old Siberian Cat.
Our 1yr old Siberian cat was an indoor cat. She ate high quality food & was very healthy. She was finally at a good weight for flea medicine. Our vet suggested Comforts but never told us that it could Kill or harm cats. She was healthy before we gave her the pill & then she started throwing up little white spots. Then with in about 4 days she went down hill & on day 5 she started throwing up and pooping hunter green liquid (bile is what we were told) and either had a stroke or seizure. The vet said she was in organ failure & couldn't save her. ...Read more
A $400 vet bill and a $1200 dead cat is what we got out of all of this. My husband and 4 year old son are divested and we have no answers from our vet or the manufacturers of Comfortis. I wish I would have known the risks before i gave her that pill bc if I hadn't she would still be here! They dont see anything wrong with the pill bc only some dogs/cats die but bc not all cats/ dogs die its still safe enough to continue selling it. I hope this helps so you dont have to lose a furry family member!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
i did think it was ok!
I used this product on my 4 Jacks for the first time & they had no reaction to it at all! The dogs chewed it up in their meal quite freely! They stopped scratching after two days it was administered! Two weeks later I have found them scratching again!

Works for fleas but difficult to administer
I have been using this on my dog for around two years as previous product no longer was working.
Very happy with it, keeps the dog free of fleas. Never an issue while he is on it.
But.. the tablet is large and he certainly would never take it. The smell of it is revolting, smells like insecticide to me.
I do worry what it is doing to him if it smells so bad. But he suffers terrible allergies from flea bites and ends up with a mange infection. So I have to prevent fleabites for him at all costs.
Nonetheless if I crush it and put it with canned tuna he takes it then.

It worked!
My two cats had been suffering from fleas for the last 3 months. I had tried multiple different brands/products, flea bombed the house multiple times, steam cleaned, vacuumed daily, washed clothing/linen/cat beds with no improvement what so ever. It was so bad that I was also being bitten daily by the fleas!
I spoke to my local vet and she recommended trying Comfortis tablets.
After 1 hour of giving the tablets to my cats they became very irritated and itchy (this is normal). Just days later and I could not be happier! No more fleas :D :D :D and I am no longer covered in flea bites! Can't recommend this product high enough! Thank you!

CAT is very ill
After taking comfortis, my cat get really ill.
She doesn't want to eat or drink. After 4 days she still doesn't want to eat anything. The fed count find nothing wrong. But after 1 week she is still ill, and she got pancreatitis. I don't know if she gonna make it. Everyday I have to go to the fed voor medication.

Comfortis killed my cat...
Would you call the death of my cat within three hours after taking one tablet a side effect? Product killed him before it had time to kill the fleas. First review I read here is about this product killing someone's dog. My condolences Rusty, same thing happened again. Really wish I'd seen this earlier. There are general warnings (keep out of reach of children) on the box, but nothing as specific as "usage may cause the death of your animal" or whatever. If just one animal has died there should be a warning prominently displayed on this product,...Read more
not a useless picture of some smiling kid, whose image actually connotes the opposite of danger. Why is there a warning a cigarette pack? Because usage may kill you. Similarly, a warning should appear in an equally prominent fashion on a veterinary product that has the potential to kill an animal. I've not been able to make an informed decision here, really. Nobody told me this product was dangerous. It needs to be labelled accordingly at the very least.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
The only treatment that has worked!
We have 3 cats and a 15 year old Golden Rereiver, all of which had horrible fleas over the summer. No matter what we did they wouldn't leave our pets alone. We tried Revolution, Advantage, baths, dusts, the lot! And nothing!
Finally our vet recommended Comfortis. Yes, it is expensive! We could have gone out for a nice meal instead.. Ha! But I never imagined these results. Within 30 mins the fleas started dropping off. Our pets were all agitated! Scratching and Running around, as I imagine the fleas were uncomfortably dying!

rse of the evening the cats all settled and slept on our bed with us. Which is unusual.. But I guess they were feeling a little strange and needed comforting. Our sheets became a crime scene in the morning. Dead fleas all over! The best thing to wake up to. Honestly!! Comfortis cleared up our dog and 3 cats within a day. Following treatments were just as effective! So far 3 months clear.. Very happy!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
My cats hate the taste
I got comfortis from our humane society. They recommended it highly. I tried several disguises after the cats at first refused the tablets, but to no avail. I even ground one up and mixed it with delicious lamb aspic, and still they wouldn't eat it. If I knew how to administer the stuff, the review might be better.

Lasted a little over two weeks!
I gave each of my 3 dogs their first Comfortis about 2 weeks ago and already the results are wearing off! For $100 per 6 month dose it was not worth it. There are adult live flea's on them which leads me to believe that it's not helping with breaking the life cycle.

Not suitable for all cats
My cat's reaction to the product was quite alarming. She became lethargic and withdrawn once we administered the tablet with her meal. After about two hours she perked up. We discovered to our dismay that she aspirated her entire daily meal. She had never done that before. On occasion she will have coughed up a hairball or something small that interfered with her digestion. But nothing like this.
Elanco, the distributor for Comfortis, refused to refund the product. However, the retailer, PetBarn, was willing to do so and exchange back to Revo...Read more

Comfortis, the best product ever for my cats!
I have 2 adult cats and I used for many years Frontline and Advocate, which in the past 2 years didn't work at all.
I discovered recently the Comfortis and because my cats are MainCoon of 6 kg and 7.5 kg I had to buy the green box, but I wanted to try first 1/2 tablet to each cat and just half an hour latter I have notice that the cats started being agitated. The whole day they were agitated but the next day, they were so happy, running around and playing like I haven't seen them in the long time.
It's been nearly 3 months since I give them just half tablet and my cats didn't have any fleas.
People, I am so excited, this product really works on my cats!
Excellent product, highly recommanded!

Killed my 14 month old healthy cat DO NOT USE
I had 2 14 month old cats brothers who were very close. I thought this product was great after using it for 3 months with my 2 cats. It was always a battle to get one of my cats to take it it was as if he knew it made him feel ill. I continued with it knowing it worked. I gave them both a tablet on the same day, an hour later one of my cats got up after a rest, had a vomit and collapsed and was dead I rushed him to the vet and they couldn't save him. I can't find any other explanation for a sudden death like this. Fortunately we still have one cat I will never ever give him Comfortis again. I just wish I had read these reviews before.

It worked for my dog
My dog had a very bad flea infestation that was literally driving him crazy, he was miserable. After trying other products like spot on and washing in flea shampoo I was desperate to get him some relief. I decided to try Comfortis and given some of these reviews was slightly nervous but was very careful to follow all the instructions and it was true to its word. After 30 minutes he was calmer and within 4 hours or so the fleas were gone. He did seem to be lethargic for a few hours but that could have been exhaustion from several days of extreme discomfort. I gave him the tablet about 2pm and by the next morning he was his normal happy self and flea free was such a relief.

Green comfortis
My dog is a 4 year old male miniature poodle who weighs 9.4 kg. On the advice of a vet assistant at my local vet surgery I gave him a dose of Comfortis - green to control an infestation of summer fleas. Over the course of the next eight hours he vomited four times & showed further signs of listlessness. In my view this medication is totally unsuited for dogs at the lower end of the weight scale & should come with advice to either not be prescribed or to be administered in a smaller dose (eg half a tablet). The difference between 9.1 kg & 18 kg ...Read more
is almost 100% & what is appropriate for an 18 kg dog cannot be the same for a dog half its weight. In the past he's had Comfortis - orange without a problem. Did it work? No, because in all likelihood the pill was expelled. Would I recommend Comfortis? Not without the caveat that the user should research the potential consequences & be mindful of weight/dose ratios.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Killed my mom's cat!
My mom gave her 8. yes 8 cats this medication last night and 3 threw up the meds and 1 was found dead this morning! After researching, this has been happening for YEARS with this medication! Ridiculous excuse for medication. negatively affected literally 50% of her cats and killed one of them! I think the pet store gave me the wrong size comfortis for my dogs..my dogs weigh up to 8kg and the pack I was given is 9.1 to 18kg..can I cut these ones in half and will half be effective? I have opened the pack so can't take it back....

I gave my dog comfortis with his food. He was fine. But 24 hours later he threw up. it looked like it was an acid type of substance from the medicine. Did the comfortis go into his system? or could he throw it up 24 hours later?
1 answer
Well the timeframe until fully digested would vary in different dogs and conditions. I would think 24hrs would be pretty safe to say the product would not be getting thrown back up... I think it mentions this in more detail on their website.
