Could you tell me please, why mine has a button for pressure cook and the others don’t? When do I use that button please?

Pressure cooking cooks food rapidly under immense pressure ie whole roast chicken in 30 minutes. Whereas slow cooking would cook the same chicken in 4 hours at high temperature & 8 hours at a low temperature. Just depends on how much time you have but all three modes of cooking will create delicious & moist chicken.

If you take off the lid to check the food when slow cooking, do you need to add extra cooking time?

If it is taken off to stir food then replaced it doesn’t need a longer time. If you remove it for a long period of time it would probably need more time. I have never taken the lid off for a long period of time. Taking the lid off would it lets the heat out.

KBA

KBAasked

Why is the lid so loose in the locked position ready for pressure cooking?
I can move it up and down. Seems contrary to expectation.
Customer Care says it’s meant to be like that but how will steam build up if the lid is not air tight?
I’m dying to use my new CPE200 but am too scared to until I understand this situation.
Please help! K

Hi KBA. Mine moves what feels like 3mm or so when locked. The pressure locks it solid once reached. If you're still concerned, you could go to a store and see if a display one behaves differently to yours when locked. I'm sure you have the silicone seal on under the lid lip, but again, check against a store one to see if it is clicked on under the metal retaining ring properly. Enjoy this wonderful machine.

Customer C.Crock-Pot

Hi KBA,
Jaspa has answered correctly.
The lid does have movement so this is normal. Once the cooking process is underway the lid will tighten. Always make sure the lid is locked into position. The only thing that would indicate an issue is if cooking commences and there is an excessive amount of steam from all around the lid.

Leeanne, If you go and have a read about the stuff on the CSIRO website your concerns will be allayed I am sure. It is like Rhubard leaves you would need to eat many kilos of the stuff for it to be harmful.

Looked at rhis cooker. Made bu same parent company as Sunbeam which has a lot of faulty electronics.

A couple of issues.
1. Like all cookers of type has non stick coating which WILL FAIL after 6mths unless you do not cook with any fat or oil (basically only boil water). No one except teens/uni students wanys non stick....everyine knows its temporary and toxic. Use Stainless for goodness sake.
2. Does not have steamer basket with handle....why...Breville does....and a really nice one at that.
3. No spare parts....again Breville does....why?

Look at the Breville BPR650. I has one lid fail after 27mths....Briscoes NZ replaced with new for FREE!

If I were to order an additional silicone ring that was manufactured to fit the Instant Pot, would it fit this lid, and if so, what diameter/quart size should I look for? I have the 5.7L model.

Hi rowyfo,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. At present spare parts for the CPE200 are not available. We cannot recommend sourcing a part from another manufacturer. This will null and void the warranty.

Guessing by lack of answers that this is a poison pot. Why not stainless steel polished....i have frypan like that and is fairly non stick and doesn't degrade.

I think they think the public is still niave.

Buy elsewhere.

I am part of a growing community of concerned consumers who would prefer not to use non-stick pans, especially Teflon coated aluminium, due to the health dangers. Do you have any plans to introduce a stainless steel option so we can at least have the choice? I also read that some users have found their non stick coating peeling after only several uses, which makes me question that it may not be that suitable for dishwasher use. Does the warranty cover this?

Customer C.Crock-Pot

Hi SBL. We do not have immediate plans to release a stainless steel version of this. We do not recommend to clean the insert in a dishwater, rather with warm soapy water or a non-abrasive cleaner and a nylon scouring pad or brush.

If the cleaning instructions in the instruction booklet are followed and you still have issues with the Teflon coating, the warranty will cover this.

Thanks for answering, though I am a little confused because I also received an answer from the makers of this product, and they assure me that the Pan IS dishwasher proof. Two conflicting answers for the same question. If I do end up purchasing, I definitely will not put in the dishwasher though, just to err on the side of caution. It has been my experience that NO teflon coated product is actually dishwasher proof in the long term, so I never understand why a product that includes a teflon coated product would actually recommend washing in the dishwasher, and using this as a selling point!

Hello, I also share the same concern on the health risks associated with cooking in a teflon coated pot. I have read good reviews on the functionality of the product but for me the unavailability of a stainless steel pot is a major drawback.

In comparing the 2 crockpot cookers the Crock-Pot® Sear & Slow – CHP700 and this cooker what are the advantages of each?

Hi there, I don't know about the sear and slow but the Crock Pot Express Multi Cooker is a fave appliance in our kitchen this winter. I am very happy with it and it's versatility. It does so much more than slow cooking and I've always wanted to a pressure cooker function which has been fun to explore.

Crock-Pot
Customer C.Crock-Pot

Hi Margaret M. The CHP700 is solely a slow cooker with a low and high heat setting as well as a keep warm function. The CPE200 is a multicooker so it has up to 14 functions such as rice cooking, slow cooking, pressure cooking, baking etc.

Hi Ann. The unit uses a maximum of 1000W per hour. Depending on when you plan on using the CPE200 (peak hour or off-peak) you should be able to calculate an approximate electricity charge.
