I rang to change to annual premiums to save some money and ended up saving heaps with some very helpful advice offered to me........I have changed to a level of cover more appropriate for me. Dom and Anna were very pleasant, informative and explained everything very clearly

Bad cover, poor service
1. I took out general dental cover (as well as hospital) as my teeth are in excellent condition. Soon after, my dentist advised I needed a mouth guard to stop grinding which could prevent major dental work down the track. I was unable to claim anything on the mouth guard (cost was around $600). CUA Health class mouth guards as major dental, whereas the other major funds see mouth guards as preventative, and with some funds you can claim 100% up to your annual limit. ransparency. 2. In the online joining process I was not asked to provide a clearance certificate from my old fund. Seven months after joining, I received a letter saying that I have a lifetime health cover loading and therefore my premium is increasing. They then debited more money from my account. Not once was I asked for the certificate, nor did they contact me to confirm anything before they sent the letter. When I advised them I did not have an LHC loading they said they'd request it from my fund, but then didn't follow up with me when they didn't receive it. I've been with CUA Health for about 8 months now. Overall I'm disappointed with the fund and would not recommend them. Given they're a lot smaller than the bigger funds, I find it baffling that their service is worse. I'm waiting to find out how much the other funds' premiums are increasing by so I can shop around. I regret moving from my previous fund.1 comment

Clarification on policy
In my policy under eyes, the excludes in bracket cataracts did confused me. We believe the policy should reward members who have a lower claim each year, instead of more to pay with age. Not all older generations claim a lot.

very helpful phone staff
Rang to update my Health cover. The staff were helpful in going through the pros and cons of different levels of cover, helping me to avoid paying too much. explained that I would not have to wait the usual time for most extras, which should be helpful.

UPDATING HEALTH COVER
I was extremely impressed with Kaleish in assisting me with this change of policy. I found the information was really quick and I could understand many things about my updating my policy. I hate to think how long I have been with CUA Health, for many years.

Cancellation of Health Policy
I was contacted by Shelley Duval CUA Health regarding a policy that my 91 yr old mother had been talked into taking out in CUA Wynnum branch. Mum was a bit confused and wasn't sure she had done the right thing. Shelley was very helpful and I appreciated her giving me a call to sort this out.

Wow that was customer service!
Aaron was friendly, took ownership of my call so I wouldn't have to deal with multiple people, and was patient in explaining the cover. He even made some suggestions that could save me from paying higher premiums unnecessarily including calling my previous health insurer for a clearance certificate which I didn't know about. I'm a happy new customer of CUA.

Great Customer Service
Gail was easy to talk to and able assist in my inquiry really quickly. She followed up with a third party to double check the cost of my premiums and called me again (after we finished talking) to let me know exactly what I will be paying per month.

I got injured accidentally about 8 months ago, in my right knee. At that time my GP asked me to get MRI done, which was covered by medicare. Now after 8 months of physio i can still feel pain in my knee. So im thinking of getting another MRI done, before i show it to a specialist. My question is; as this time my MRI is not covered by medicare will cua help me with payment for MRI ?

Unfortunately I am not able to respond. Check with your doctor/surgeon and get item numbers and check with Medicare as well as CUA Health. Thats what I would do myself before proceeding.
