Makes great ice cream!
This is one of my favourite kitchen appliances. The ice cream recipes are easy to follow and I've made delicious vanilla and chocolate custard-style ice creams so far based on the recipe book that comes with the appliance. It's quite easy to reduce sugar and there are no nasty additives and preservatives in home-made ice cream. It's a little time consuming as the custard mix needs to stay in the fridge overnight for the flavours to develop but the churning usually only takes about 40 minutes. Best to keep an eye on the mixture when churning...Read more
in case you have overfilled the container - you don't want it spilling into the machine. I usually put a little less cream and milk in to avoid overfilling. Once churning the ice cream is best after a couple of hours in the freezer to solidify.Purchased in October 2021.

Was ok
I purchased my ice cream maker as Christmas present to myself
I have only used it 4 or 5 times and it did work a treat. I went to use it again in early January but it played up it worked ok for about 3 or 4 minutes into its blending cycle and then made really terrible grinding noises. I stopped it to check and make sure I had placed ice cream container correctly. Restarted it and again got the grinding noises. Reached and then restarted and it worked ok. I have since been very hesitant to use it. I will give it another go and but it look...Read more
s like I may have a lemon. Other problem is the zvailabily of ingredients some recipes call for the use of pectin only place I can source it is online and the postage is almost the same as the product.

Brilliant machine, simple to use and great results every time. I have tried the other type where you have to freeze the bowl and this is absolutely worth the extra cash you'll need to splash- don't even consider any other one just be patient and save up for this one

Great
Great little ice cream maker, we have this model and a similar Apuro model and much prefer the Cuisinart for the little extra cash. We just ran it for three days straight producing ice cream for our ice cream van and it didn't miss a beat, yet the Apuro would freeze up.

Love it!
We've made about a half-dozen batches of ice-cream and we're delighted.
it's easy, fairly quick and we control what goes in. Just milk, cream, a little sugar and flavouring. No preservatives, colouring or salt which are in most commercial ice-creams. We've found that half the amount of sugar suggested by the recipe book is all that is needed. Strawberry is the best we've made so far!
It's a little noisy and the mixture is a little soft when finished (but if it were much harder you wouldn't be able to get it out of the bowl!). We also wan...Read more
ted the plain stainless steel finish, rather than the red, which, surprisingly, cost more. These are very minor negatives. It's a great machine that does what it is designed to do with no fuss and produces great results.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Real, delicious and healthy icecream
I was on the lookout for an ice cream machine with a compressor for the last couple of years. I jumped at the chance when I saw it and can't believe how good it is. easy or complex recipes- they are all DELICIOUS. I have not bought commercial ice cream since November 2013. My kids can eat as much as they want because it's ALL NATURAL and I know what's in it. I would have made over 20litres of ice cream over the summer. everyone that tastes it can't believe how creamy and flavoursome it is. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mango, choc mint- all s...Read more
crumptious. You can eat it freshly churned after about 45 mins- it's that real silky soft gelato. The recipe book is excellent. Easy to clean. Do yourself a favour and invest in your health with this machine. Big thumbs up! Can eat icecream straight after a churn Nothing.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Awesome
Have had my new best friend for 2 months now and what a fantastic product !!!!! I use it every day and if you want to take chemicals and other junk well this baby is the answer. LOVE IT. I am so fussy when it comes to ice cream and would only ever purchase that. Well now comparing ice cream from my own ingredients my previous favorite brand of ice cream no longer has a place in my freezer

Does the finished ice cream have to go into the freezer or is it ready to eat out of the machine?
1 answer
Yes you can eat it straight away, your custard mix has to be very cold (use metal bowl) and rested overnight in the fridge. Don't believe what u see on masterchef TV, where they throw hot custard in an ice cream machine and churn in away. It won't taste nice and set properly.

Can you use ordinary Pauls cream with no additives, or do you need to buy double cream as the recipe suggests (heavy cream). I used Pauls and the icecream did not set. Even after an hour in the icecream maker, it was still thin like milk. Not cold enough??? I put it in the deep freeze at this stage and, of course, it went to ice. I was tempted to put it back in the icecream maker after it had been in the deep freeze for 2 hours. Any ideas?

Hi Noela, I can't really answer your question as all the recipes I use are made from a coconut cream and cashew base which I've never had trouble with unless ambient temperature has been too high then It takes up to an hour and a half - now I put the air con on to avoid this. - a chilled mix in a cooled room takes about 40mins on average any longer it gets over frozen. I would have though after an hour it would thicken at least little, the compressor in the machine may not be running?? Is it at least cooling the mix? Thanks Chris - Ubuntu Ice Cream Co.
I use the double cream from Cole's not the Tasmanian it's too thick, too long in the Machine you get Butter, Try 300Milk 300 cream 175 Sugar heat milk let cool Beat 3 egg with the sugar add whatever, I used 175ml Brued coffee and 1/2 cup Nutella Churn 30 min with Gelato Paddle ( about as thick as custard then freeze 2 hours . I make the mixture the day before and whip slightly before you put it into Machine. This is the best one I have made along with other Gelato I had recipes for I don't like the idea of Flour or Pectin as the book suggests, It's the Vanilla custard Ice creams I am getting the fatty tastes. along with them setting like rocks a bit of Alcohol etc. 3T/S Grand Mariner helps as Alcohol keeps it from setting so hard. Can't dispute Recipes from the Book The Silver Spoon . Neola I hope this helps cheers Shirley
Thank you both. This is very helpful.

How easy is it to get the finished product out of the bowl? Does the paddle come out or do you have to work around it?

WHen the ice cream is ready to take out I just lift out the paddle and shake it into the container then scoop out the rest of the ice cream. Easy!!
Thanks. Sounds great.
