Replaced old Buffulo gas heater
Office very professional. Gave clear instructions including no cash, distancing measures, etc. during Covid-19 restrictions, although not strictly followed by tech (no major issues). Service above expectation, with a call to arrange an earlier time than was initially booked. Warm again!

Service was great from phone call to end of installation which took only two days. The guys who came also took time to explain how the new programmable remote works and how to maintain the new gas heater.

Pays to get a second opinion!
I had David come today to look at my HVAC that had stopped working.
I had previously had another company look at it and tell me I needed to pay $600 to get the fan fixed and also buy a new thermostat as it was on its way out. They also tried to convince me I should buy a new unit as this one was old.
Lucky for second opinions.

Always great service
We have had Darebin Gas servicing our evaporative cooler and heater for a very long time. Prompt efficient service always. As well the technicians are very personable helpful guys who go out of their way to explain everything. Costs are always clearly explained and timeframes kept to. A couple of weeks ago we had them upgrade our very old ducted heater. It is in the roof cavity and was a difficult job. The two guys completed the task without fault. Staff in their office similarly efficient and friendly.

During the past 10 days our air conditioner collapsed. Bad timing during a 40 degree day. Contacted the folk at Darebin Gas and had a beautiful new Braemar unit installed within days. Faultless attention to detail and extremely well mannered technicians attended to do the installation.
Our air conditioning interior vents required replacing and these were duly attended to promptly. These are tricky to replace. However the team quietly and patiently fitted seven vents to our great satisfaction.

LAST MINUTE RESCUE
Thank you so much for your help yesterday. I called on the slight chance being 3pm that someone could come and repair our hot water unit that decided to break down.
The kind lady in the office advised that she will ring around and see if anyone was able to stay back and help me.
Ten minutes later they called back and said a plumber is happy to come past on their way home.
Arrived about 4:30 and had our hot water up and running again.
Cant thank you guys enough for the chop out

FOREVER RELIABLE
Wow not sure what experience the past reviewers have had, but I have and my parents have been using DarebinGas for over 15 years now with out a single real issue.
Always prompt, always explain costs upfront and offer my mum a pension discount every time they've attended.
Mums evap cooler needed servicing last week and were happy to push her forward due to her age, they offered to even test her heater to ensure it had no carbon monoxide leaks while there.
The fees are reasonable as Im a strong believer that you get what you pay for.
Couldn't recommend DarebinGas high enough.

Very bad & poor experience, exhorbitant costs --never ever use them
If I can give darebin gas less than 1 star I would gladly do so. They do not even deserve a 1 star from me. I booked them to look at my breeze air evaporative cooling unit as it was not working. Their technitian [name removed] came at 12.05 pm & was on our roof for not more than 32 mins. Because I timed him. Yet he charged us for a total block of 45 mins. (15+15+15) altogether, because he includes the time taken in preparing his bill, doing his calculations, folding his ladder & loading it back in his van, etc,etc. In the last block of 15 mins....Read more
Which is not right or fair, so we as customers are made to actually pay @ $35 for 15 mins block (which works out to $2.33 per minute), for all this additional time taken by their technitian, which is nothing but fleecing the customers on top of their exhorbitant rates !! --& all this was done standing on our driveway behind his van. So he charged us $163 (call out fee for first 15 mins) + $35x2 = $70 for next 2 blocks of 15 mins. So a total of $233 as service fee or labour cost & $93.50 for some 2 parts replaced. Rightly speaking we should only have been charged for 30 minutes & not 45 minutes. We told him this, but he was adamant that he would charge us for 45 mins. & not 30 mins. To make matters worse, [name removed] the technitian did not even have the decency or the professional work ethos, to come into our house after finishing the job on the roof to check that our system was working well & soundlessly, cooling properly, etc. We actually paid him on our driveway & after he left, we came inside the house only to find that there was a loud sound coming from one of the vents in in our bedroom. We immediately phoned their office & spoke to [name removed] & told her what the problem was & to contact [name removed] & send him back. She phoned back saying that she had a word with [name removed] & if we wanted him to come back again, we would be charged @$35 per block of 15 mins. Again!! I had never heard anything so ridiculous as this & mind you [name removed] had just left our house barely 5 mins ago after we paying him $316.50 for a job that was not done properly. There was no sound coming from any of our vents before this. No amount of arguments with the office lady [name removed], got us anywhere & they were adamant that we will be charged again if someone came out. Very poor customer service & rude. Seeley international, the manufacturers of breezeair evaporative coolers needs to investigate this type of poor service given to their customers by darebin gas who are supposed to be their authorised sevice agents, or they will loose their customers, because as customers we deserve better & not deal with such a company !!1 comment

Poor servicing
I booked a service for my evap cooler with Darebin Gas. When booking I stated that it was noisy on low settings.
After the service the tech told me the reason the cooler was noisy was due to its age and the parts not working as smoothly as they once did.
The next day after the service I went on the roof to inspect the cooler as it was still very noisy. I found the issue was the fan was rubbing against its cowling. Incredibly poor service and product - DO NOT USE DAREBIN GAS
Darebin Gas came out to replace our ducts (for $600) and two months later we were faced with the same problem (collapsed ducts). They came out again and said this time it was due to cats damaging the ducts and wanted to charge an extra $300. I had a second opinion who advised it was simply because the ducts are of poor quality and therefore collapsed again. The technician (SHANNON) who came out the second time was rude and did not care. He simply referred me to management. DO NOT USE them there are better service providers out there who actually care about their work and product quality and are cheaper

Our technician that attended had mentioned to me that you were disgruntled about the situation we did try to explain that it was not of the fault of installation or the product, so we don't believe we should have to pay for your vermin issue. The ductwork is covered under a 12 month manufacturers warranty so if we had found the issue to be that we would have gladly changed it as it wouldn't have been of cost to anyone. Poor service/high cost/no positive outcome
Technician attended & advised of SIMPLE fix to our problem AFTER having spent sufficient time on the job to then charge the next increment. I would have hoped experienced technicians to look for the quick/common troubleshooting first, not last to keep householder costs to a minimum. Recommended replacing batts, but not the unit (older unit). Batts replaced and problem reoccurred very soon after - now told major part/cost or replace unit. Darebin Gas take advantage
When I called Breezair to find someone to repair my Evaporative Cooler it went automatically to Darebingas. This is a monopoly!! They serviced and did minor repairs my cooler on 4/1/18 and charged $889, $13 was for credit card charge. It is now just over a year since and my cooler has the same problem. They will not come out and assess if it is the same issue and could be a manufacturers fault and refuse to take any responsibility for the work. They take advantage of being directly referred by Breezair and their paperwork was inadequate, not itemisation, we don't know what we paid for. Do not use this company, shop around.

NOT outstanding service.
Two men came; they went up on the roof for 2 minutes (If that).
Came down said unit will eventually need a new motor and pads; gave me a quote of over $1000.0, charged me almost $280.00 and left. Easiest money earned in 2 minutes!
They didn't service the unit. In fact, not sure if in the 2 minutes they even "looked" at the unit.
Do GP's say:- "you will eventually die" and so do not treat you now?

Don’t use Darebin Gas - not reliable - unprofessional - over charge - no service
The worst plumbing experience I ever had! My hot water system not work, no hot water. I get on to Darebin Gas and sent a guy to come and quoted $400 to fix my hot water system, been told it’s fixed and water boil again, hot water should be ready in 1/2 hr, so the guy left. I call the office immediately (around 4pm Friday), get on to the manger he said they can’t get anyone to come over, all their plumbers finished work no one available, the early they can do is next day, terrible customer service! Next day a different guy came, ask me some questions and check for problem, at the end he told me there is other problem, I need to pay $300 for a part to get it fix. This is ridiculous!! At the start no hot water, after paid $400 I still have no hot water, not even work for an hour (you can’t count this job been fixed right?) I paid $400 for nothing. The guy keep saying the first problem been fixed, this is other problem, if I not pay $300 he will leave, not fix this problem, call office on Monday if I want. I didn’t pay so he left and leave my family with no hot water for 3 days (Friday, Sat. & Sun). They don’t care for their customer at all, all they want to get your money. If they are professional enough they would have identified what’s wrong on the hot water system. If they told me approximately $700 to fix it, I will consider to buy a new one, not paid $400 at the start, and now ask for another $300. I can buy a new system on $700. Now my concern they have not fix the right part at start. they offer me a new hot water system with the cost $1800. I checked in shop I found a new hot water system just $695, and installation charge $250, altogether under $1000. Darebin Gas charged way too high, not reliable, unprofessional and no service! heating and cooling service + call out
super reliable, the team were very fast to come to check out my problem and fixed it immediately. reasonably priced and he explained to me in basic terms the problem. I didn't feel like he took advantage of my lack of knowledge as a female at all. My aunty dealt with them too and was very impressed with how fast the service and work was. definitely recommend

Super helpful
Our hot water service actually got stolen from the new house we were building. We did not realize until we had moved into the property and obviously had no hot water!! We called Darebin Gas and they were super helpful, we had a new unit put in the same day and are so grateful for all their assistance!

Three call outs, gas heater still not fixed
Don't waste your time with this company. Our heater wasn't pushing out hot air and we called Darebin Gas. Each time he came out (3 times and 3 call out fees) the serviceman says 'it should be fine now', and doesn't explain what he fixed or what the issue was. He doesn't wait to see if it actually heats up the house and says gives us a call if it's not working and we can come out...
I would've thought you would fix it before you leave. Avoid at all costs.

Either scammers or not knowledgeable
Was quoted to have hot water unit replaced for $1500 after being charged a callout fee of $150. Called a second plumber for a second option (who didn't even charge a callout fee) and fixed the problem in 10 minutes.

Braemar Loft Heater System
They fitted a new Braemar heater system for me in 2015 and did a real good job at the time I had a honeywell system and was asked if I wanted to keep the existing thermostat on the wall I said yes fine they left me with the new units thermostat for later down the road.
