Too much trouble

published

Putting boiling water in the tray and then filling up the cups and then trying to get eggs out with a spoon...all too much trouble...you can find a 2 egg poacher on ebay that is much easier to use

Purchased at Woolworths Physical store.

Big disappointment

published

I followed the instructions exactly and ended up with completely runny, watery whites and knobbly yolks. Totally inedible. What was wrong? My eggs were fresh. My microwave is fine. It was such a disgusting result I wouldn't even try again. It all went into the rubbish bin.

Perfect First Go!

published

I wonder if people here giving low reviews are following the instructions! Must out boiling water in bottom first, and check what wattage your Micro is. I got great eggs the first time and ongoing.

Purchased in March 2021 at Big W Retail Stores for $15.00.

I’m not a poached egg fail anymore.

published

Followed YouTube video instructions exactly except took 10 secs off cook time as I have 1200w microwave. Used 2 x 700gm eggs. Cooked perfectly, soft whites and half runny yolks. I’m teaching hubby how to use it tomorrow.

Purchased in December 2021 at Coles Supermarkets for $10.00.

Takes practice!

published

Got mine on sale for $2 at Aldi, When i first tried this, i had the same issues as everyone else, overcooked yolk and undercooked whites. Took me 3 goes and i figured out what works for my microwave was to pour boiling water up to th fill like and put the lid on, microwave for 1 min (just water, no eggs), then quickly put the eggs in, microwave 2 mins= perfectly cooked runny egg.

A handy device

published

Product works - you must have just boiled the jug before you put the water in as water at a lower temperature means the egg doesn't cook in the time allocated. I also put a drop of vinegar in with the egg to help the white to set. I used one minute 30 secs for eggs that came out of a 700 gram packet.

Exploding mess

published

Bought today from IGA after seeing advertising on telli. Because Im on my own I tried 1 egg after carefully reading the instructions and the egg exploded leaving a real mess in my microwave. I will try again with a suggestion from one of the reviews on this page. Dont put water in the cup, put spinach in the other cups. See how I go.

Very happy with result and product!

published

Easiest way to poach 4 eggs at once by far. It took 2-3 times to get the perfect result but keep in mind egg size is different every time so adjust time accordingly. If it's the smaller size eggs from 600g box then 1min 20sec is good. If 700g eggs then 1min 30 sec is perfect.

Absolutely useless item

published

Just used Decor 4 egg microwave poacher as per instructions and it doesn't work. Takes 5 minutes not 1 minute 20 and solidifies yoke and barely cooked egg white. Absolute piece of garbage would recommend no one buy this. Will never use this again. Just like most of Decor's current range not so cheap but crappy.

Do not follow their instructions

published

Disaster if you follow their instructions... I agree with all the bad reviews and you lose most of the white. Follow the initial instructions, but Instead ADD THE BOILING WATER AFTER they come out of microwave for minute plus 10/20 secs. rest for about minute, perfect. Ps I did not need fifty words for this!

Do NOT buy these products

published

The poached eggs are terrible and the bacon cooker melted in the microwave. They are not "microwave safe". The egg cooker requires water to be added to the top of the eggs with the result that the finished product is eggs with runny whites and hard yolks. The bacon cooker was unusable after the first time as it had a big melted hole in it.

If you don't know what a poached egg is this is awesome!!!

published

After many attempts it is clear all this item does is turn perfectly good eggs into inconsistently cooked ice hockey pucks! I have tried many ways of cooking eggs and even time they have been done in a microwave the result is the same. They turn into rubber!!! If you have any clue about cooking do not buy this.

Better than expected!

published

I love poached eggs and, as someone who owns chickens, not being able to master the poaching process was messy and frustrating. Woolworths were selling these half price so I gave it a shot, despite my initial skepticism.

Just follow the instructions and you're set! If you have an ancient microwave like we do (my parents purchased it back in the 1980s) you might need to add 10-20 seconds. Make sure you use boiling water, not tap-hot or recently boiled. After cooking, let them sit for a minute as instructed but not longer (they will continue to cook for a time).

It really couldn't be any easier.

Perfect eggs

published

I misread the instructions so I don't put the boiling water on top. I cook for 1.5 mins give or take for 1 or 2 eggs and baby spinach in the other cups. I check and add a 10 sec burst if needed for bigger or more eggs until the egg whited are not clear. Easy to pop out of the cup. No mess. Easy, quick, perfectly cooked breakfast every time.

Awesome, now I can cook eggs

published

Not the best eggs I've ever had, but definitely the best eggs I've ever cooked myself. Follow the instructions perfectly and it works great. One min for two eggs or one min twenty seconds for four eggs. This final line is because the review is a fifty work minimum.

Useless poacher but all is not lost!

published

I followed the instructions and after an initial failure (yolks overcooked and whites underdone), I tried adjusting times but no matter which way the result was poor.

I contemplated returning the item but have since made the most of a bad situation and intend to use the egg 'cups' as icecream/jelly cups for my grandchildren, the insert to trace circles for meringue baking (or crafts) and the main container for storing spinach/kale in the refrigerator. All is not lost when you recycle!

Waste of money

published

Bought the egg poacher and bacon cooker a while ago. The process of cooking the eggs seems unnecessarily complicated with boiling water under and in the egg cups, risky keeping it level getting it in and out of microwave. Eggs had solid yolks and broken down uncooked watery whites. And I am quite used to my microwave power and adjusting power/time as needed. I will return to microwaving eggs in my little pyrex ramekins. As for the bacon cooker, tried it a few times. Basically you get steamed bacon. Get better results putting bacon on a plate and putting a paper kitchen towel over it in the microwave. Dumped both of these 'cookers'.

Hi All.
These cooking instructions are just a guide line. As a lot of others have stated egg size plays a part in the timing. I followed instructions to a T and my first ones were a bit too firm for my liking so next time I will just take 10 seconds off and so on. You can still eat your first attempt, it’s still an egg and I don’t see what all the fuss is about the product. It’s like everything else in life, you learn the more you do it.

Used Decor egg poacher and bacon grill first time last night - dismal failure. BUT, instruction only given for 1000w microwave. My microwave is 1500w. Does anyone know how to adjust cooking time without wasting countless eggs/bacon experimenting. Faye

Hi, my microwave is 1200w so found I adjusted 10 secs off cooking time and left them to rest longer before opening lid. Maybe size of egg may be a factor also.
Good luck.

Same time for 2 eggs?

Yes but they will be slighly firmer. Adjust by 10 sec up and down depending on how runny or firm you prefer them.
