I've been with Asus for 6 years without any prob, laptop still working. Try upgrading with Dell, only lasted a year! Got a replacement motherboard which didn't last long either!

All the features but SLOW and Frustrating
I purchased a new Dell 1500 some 18 months ago, i5 processor, 8Gb RAM, and whilst it does the job for general word processing, browsing and the like it's frustratingly slow. Often times it takes and EON to boot and the McAfee AV scanning hogs all the resources along with endless updates to make the pc unusable 'til it's done it's thing. I guess Windows 10 mightn't help but all in all it's very frustrating piece of kit. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.. Maybe I just need to purchase a high end machine?

ays is that whilst the processors might be faster, the developers are forever adding more "features" which negates any performance increase. I yearn for the day when we can have a basic OS remove all the feature's and dross to allow us users to operate the machine as intended. How many frickin screen saver and customisation options do you need!!!

IF you only use one application at a time, it's fine...anything else and it's S-L-O-W
I bought this laptop 4 months ago and the lady confirmed that it would suit my needs for:
- Working remotely
- Using multiple Chrome tabs
- Using applications such as Zoom, Skype and Google Hangouts
I am not a gamer, and don't need high-graphics or anything. All of my usage is cloud based and internet based.
My internet speed is fine but the laptop goes soooo S-L-O-W that most tabs time out. And if Windows 10 updates, I'm in for way more trouble - it requires me to manually go and reinstall all my drivers because it stops recognising my hea...Read more
dphones and things. I tried to get a hold of the retailer and haven't had a response. I've called Dell and they suggested I buy a new laptop because this one is old (it's FOUR MONTHS OLD!) and that I should call back at a convenient time for them so that their tech support can maybe help me disable unnecessary Dell features (so why install them in the first place?)Purchased in September 2021 at The Good Guys for A$775.00.

Biggest Mistake I Ever Made
To begin with, prior to the terrible experience with my recently purchased Dell Inspiron 7570 my experiences with Dell had been positive, but all the previous Laptops worked perfectly.
However, I purchased the Unit in late May 2022 and have had nothing but intermittent problems. I simply asked Dell to replace the unit for a brand new one, yet they have continued to do everything, but offer a replacement. For example, they initially offered a refund when I actually asked for a replacement unit and I refused because I felt a replacement unit...Read more
was fair and reasonable. They then offered to repair the unit with refurbished parts (Yes refurbished parts and not brand new parts). I purchased a Brand New Laptop so said I would not accept anything but new parts (That was even a big deal for Dell's so called customer support). They then suggested they would replace the unit in various emails, but then said it was refused at a higher level. I purchased the unit at a discounted price on their website so to accept a refund means I could not afford a similar Laptop with the same specifications (I would be the Loser), which is why I feel they are not offering to replace the unit to save money, yet they were happy to sell me the product at a special price, but not look after my needs as the customer when it was a lemon. To be frank, the experience has been terrible, dragged on by Dell and I feel under goodwill and a 12 month warranty that the Laptop should have been replaced first prior to offering a refund. It is obviously cheaper for Dell to offer a refund, repairs with refurbished parts than replace a unit. Dell are great as long as things are on their terms and they obviously do not care about the customer. Very poor form Dell and a terrible product! Worst customer care I have ever experienced in my life.Purchased in May 2021 at Dell for A$1,299.00.

Avoid it if you can.
Avoid it if you can. As soon as the warranty period finished it started breaking down. The mouse pad worked off and on. It randomly turns off and on the 20th month of ownership it has completely died. If you are purchasing from a retailer with an optional extended warranty definitely purchase it and then return it every 18 months to be fixed.

Screen hinge broke a month after warranty end
that's very disappointing. I paid for this laptop around $1400 and it worked well until like a 1 months after the warranty end. Do they really expect us to pay $1400 for a new laptop every year???

Worst purchase in my entire life - misleading product listing on website
During Dell's sale, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 laptop as it was a good deal, but upon arrival, there were no accessories (ie laptop bag etc), which is fair enough considering the deal, but there was also NO CHARGER so it was not a usable product at all. When contacted customer service about this, I was notified that this particular laptop does not come with a charger, and has to be purchased separately. Checking the product listing on Dell's official website again, the description/specifications did not specify that the charger was not included, and under the list of "recommended accessories to purchase" there was no charger under in that list either. This is very poor customer service and very misleading.

Completely shithouse keyboard; trackpad almost as bad
don't really have complaints about slow performance (which is what everyone else seems to be complaining about), it seems as fast as anything else I've used, but I'm just using for web surfing, video watching, email and word processing so far. Mine has 8GB RAM, almost 1 TB HD. My main and HUGE issue is the utterly shithouse keyboard, and the almost-as-bad trackpad. Any typing on it is just totally painful. It's hardware, NOT software-related too, because you get the same problems in Notepad - many keys, such as space bar, apostrophe, Backspace, etc, have to be hit multiple times before they work. Utterly painful. Bought for about $900 at JB Hi Fi, a couple of days ago.

Good but not great!!!
Bought it on 2014 and that was the time when it was so powerful, but these days after getting all new updates etc it started showing off its aging signs and then became to worse to use, takes at least 5 min time to start during startup of this machine although I have switched off heavy things that will use up a lot of RAM to start,my friendly suggestion to people who needs to buy this go for 8+GB RAM and SSD as an hard drive rather than default HDD storage.
Purchased at Dell.

What junk
This computer is very unstable and erratic. It is very, very slow. You get a very low end computer that is not worth wasting your money on. I would spend a little more and not have to put up with all its idiosyncrasies.

Poor performance improved after Support Assist
Edited 20/04/2020:
My first review was honest and accurate 6 months after purchase, but since then, after using Support Assist and doing a reset, the machine has greatly improved to the point that I would describe it as reliable. The start up time and overall speed has greatly improved. It no longer takes ages to open a picture or create a folder. I don't know why it was so sluggish out of the box but it hasn't been too bad in the 6 months that followed since the reset, therefore I felt obliged to post an honest update. I can consider it good ...Read more
value for money. I have posted this update at my own volition as I think this is a fair and accurate assessment. ********************** Original review: It was a mistake to purchase this laptop. I've only had it for 6 months, it hardly gets used, but It is either frustratingly slow or it just freezes. It cannot handle Microsoft Office and even takes a long time to open a picture or create folder. It should not have been allowed for retail sale. Decision made = never purchase another Dell!Purchased in February 2021 at Dell Australia for A$800.00.

Big Design problem
The computer is good for my needs specs and all in all is a good product.
BUT, there is a big issue with the design, the keyboard is silver and the characters are white with a back lit that make things worst. I can't not even type because I can't see the letters in my keyboard.
I still do not understand how this computer was approved to go to production.
Do not but it, you won't be able to see or type.

Great laptop
love this computer but had to immediately update the Ram as it could not run my embroidery software programs fast enough. Love that the keyboard lights up so you can type in the dark. Sorry I didn’t look close enough at the keyboard as I don’t need the extra numerals area on the side, which has made the laptop just a bit too big. Found that dealing with Dell themselves with queries was a long drawn out nightmare but sorted out finally. Also finding that I have to charge the battery daily as it doesn’t seem to last long enough. Running the free Classic Shell program as I hate Windows 10. Works very well.

It is the slowest laptop I have ever had. And I had a laptop in the early 90s!
This laptop was purchased for me in 2014 as a replacement for my old laptop that was running slow. To be honest, this one wasn't much better. It has the modern Windows interface which is nice but seriously the ten minute warm up time from pressing the button to power up, to putting in your pin to unlock it- and then waiting several more minutes for the interface to open, it was very frustrating. Credit where credit is due - it did get slower with age - in the beginning it wasn't as bad, but it still was quite slow. I didn't download anything...Read more
on to it - I used it for internet and word documents that's it! I did not use it very often and the other day when I pulled it out it wouldn't work at all. Took it to Jaycar and they ran some tests - the battery is cactus and my charger was buggered. The told me to buy a new laptop - so I did (typing this review on my new baby - a IdeaPad S145. (It's so quick I love it!) lol. I'm going to reset my old laptop once I buy a new battery and charger and gift it to my mum as she doesn't mind if it is a bit slow. Other than the slowness, the interface was good and easy to use, I did have an issue with the "@" sign and the quotation marks (") being on the opposite keys - I recently found out that this is because if you select the 'UK' keyboard instead of the US keyboard it reverses those symbols (it did exactly the same thing on my new laptop yesterday so that's why I figured it out!).Purchased in October 2021 at Harvey Norman Retail Stores - Appliances.

Frustrating machine!
I really hate this laptop! I bought it whilst my other laptop was getting fixed under warranty which was taking too long and am I regretful! It’s slow, painfully slow. It lags, A LOT! Watching movies etc is very laggy. The start up takes forever! It freezes a lot. The speakers were fine the first 2 weeks, now can barely hear any sound.
My advice, stay away!

A solid budget level laptop
There's some pretty damming reviews on this site about this laptop - I can only assume they paid a premium for the i7 version. I didn't...
My Inspiron is the Pentium 2.3 Ghz dual core, 8Gb mem version. It was never going to be a power house, but I own a desktop for any heavy number crunching I need done. I wanted a reasonably portable laptop with a full sized screen, and I wanted a bargain, so expectations set to a reasonable level. And my expectations have certainly been met!
I paid $550 at JB (end of year sale), and I got my moneys worth. D...Read more
on't expect big CPU loads and you'll be rewarded. HDMI port, RJ45 lan port and 2x USB3 (plus a 3rd USB2 port). Battery life is HOURS rather minutes as reported in other reviews. The negatives? Microsoft/Dell configuration wizard is an absolute pain to navigate. I really don't need another Microsoft/Dell/McAfee account to manage; it took me quite a few hours to navigate the setup and then remove the rubbish I really didn't want. Best thing you can do? Don't accept McAfee as your AV of choice (try Bitdefender or another AV of your own choice); Office365 can be replaced with OpenOffice as a free alternative; go for Google Drive instead of Microsoft OneDrive.Purchased in June 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Online Store for A$549.00.
