Quick shots from a small footprint
I can’t find the receipt but I’m pretty sure I have had my Delonghi Dedica EC 680 manual coffee machine for three years. Its small footprint was important in selecting it to replace my old unit as worktop space, if not at a premium, is not infinite in my kitchen. Three finishes were on offer – red, black and stainless which I chose. It has proven easy to keep clean.
It’s small but can it make a decent espresso? I have pulled at least ten shots a day, for family and friends, every day for three years, and I have had consistently good results wi...Read more
th beans I grind myself or pre-ground kilo bricks. I am happy with the crema delivered by the Dedica. The machine is programmable in terms of coffee temperature, coffee volume, water hardness and stand-by time. Programming is straightforward using the three buttons above the group head. These same buttons convey operational status and indicate when to descale. The filter holder has three filters - one shot, two shot and ESE. The filters are pressurised which promotes consistent extraction but may not suit the more expert domestic coffee maker. The frothing wand is of the panarello type which assists in the creation of froth but again, may not suit the more expert domestic coffee maker. The machine has a 1 litre water tank which I typically fill once a day. The water heater is of the thermobloc type which is very quick to reach operating temperature and recover. Recently, I have started experimenting with various brands of ESE pod with the idea in mind that visitors can easily make a coffee themselves even though they are unfamiliar with this type of machine. To extend this idea, I have bought a Lavazza milk frother so that the ease of use of a capsule machine is approximated.Purchased in March 2021.

Absolute rubbish product
It's a rubbish product. It made about 8 cups of coffee and then refused to make another one. Coffee loaded and nothing came out into the cup so I scooped all the coffee out and put it into my 3 year old $69 Aldi machine and it all worked fine. When it worked the quality was no better than what the Aldi machine made and a far cry from what you get in a coffee shop. It's going back for a refund.
Purchased in May 2021 for $288.00.

You better be a true barista to operate this machine
I bought this on amazon. Hate this machine, as I wasted more espresso when the water would not brew and drip and got stuck frequently. Would not matter if I packed the espresso lose or tight had many issues. Also the milk froth leaked water in my milk and watered it down. Waste of money and difficult to operate!!! I’m apparently not a barista or this is defective machine.

Excellent espresso maker, and so compact!
If you want a genuinely excellent, attractive espresso maker at a reasonable price but don't have a lot of room for one of the behemoth "standard" machines, the De'Longhi EC680 is exactly what you've been looking for.
This machine requires about the same amount of counter space as a Keurig coffee machine. Technically, it's only 2/3 the width of a typical Keurig, but you want to leave a little room on the right so that the steam wand remains easily accessible.

Pod Famine
Machine is very good but availability of ESE pods is very bad. I searched from Canberra today and found that there was no supplier with stock within 200k. Resellers seem to have given up on them. Bad news DeLonghi!. I will just need to find another source of ESE Pods. If you can't get resellers interested in selling them why don't you ask competitive mail order suppliers to add them to their offerings - or improve your own service.

Nope
Had this thing serviced a bunch of times because it's perpetually breaking down. Has to go through the de-scaling process all the time which is super annoying. Pretty darn useless in my experience. When it's working, the coffee tastes fine I guess, but I would caution against buying one of these.

Best coffee maker
So happy with this coffee machine. I’ve had a Nespresso machine before and hated it, too expensive to buy coffee pods and didn’t like any of the coffees or
I wanted a simple machine that made good coffee and allowed me to use organic coffee.
After having tasted coffee made in Italy using one of these machines I was sold! So easy to use, coffee is always hot and I can use organic coffee. We bought the Alicia Latte milk frother and it works like a charm.
Friends who have bought expensive oversized coffee machines can’t believe how much better coffee from our machine is. And it doesn’t take up half the kitchen bench!

So happy with it
We brought this to replace our sunbeam coffee machine and it's 1000 times better! It is compact so takes up no room in my bench. I love that it doesn't use coffee pods (better for the environment) and it heats up really quickly! I have nothing bad to say about this machine. Very happy with my purchase.

Love this machine
Love this machine! You can use pods or ground Coffee in it so it gives you a variety of coffee styles. It also is very quick heating up so makes it easy to make a quick cuppa in the morning before work. I chose the silver to blend in our kitchen, but I would have liked a wider range of colours! Researched this before buying it and were very happy with the purchased!

A great machine but the noise...
I purchased this machine as the Distinta has been discontinued.
The dedica is a compact, easy to clean machine.
Crema is lovely and pulls a decent shot.
Love the adjustable temp for coffee shots!
Disappointed that the machine is quite noisy due to the metal parts, but still pulls a great shot.

Good sized espresso machine
This machine makes a good coffee and sits next to my coffee grinder taking up very little space on the kitchen bench. All the parts go in the dishwasher ok.
The milk frothier is not the bestie that it is not real creamy and tends to be watery, but it does the job of heating.

Great coffees but room for improvement
Perfect compact coffee maker to fit into my apartment's small kitchen. Probably even a good size for a caravan if you can spare the money! It's excellent quality, never had a problem at all with it and every so often it tells you to descale it which is very easy. The only problem is I had to scour the net and the guide to figure out what the different blinking lights meant (should be the front page of the guide or a seperate extra page). Also, despite having a milk frother so made for full manual coffees, the distance between the base of the ma...Read more
chine and where the coffee comes out only fits a small cup. Perfect for a piccolo but you will need to use a small cup and tip it into a bigger cup if you like anything bigger. All in all, great product and would recommend, but just be aware of those 2 minor issues.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Grounds spread every where
Had this for a couple of years now and it's so annoying to use I've bought another fully automatic one. To start with you need ground beans which means you. Red a grinder then you need to put beans in the group head and tap down which is an art and you spill grounds every where once you've done that hope you did it right because if you haven't it won't screw in then when your all done you need to get rid of all the grounds which is just one messy process before you enjoy the coffee

Solid espresso machine, weak steam wand
This thing has been churning out perfect espresso shots everyday for the past 5 months and i love it for this function. However the steam wand is relatively weak and takes a long time to foam up the milk and ive never really managed to achieve that perfect barista-standard glossy foamed texture in the milk. But the machine is great for the price and if you're happy just to be able to have the ability to make a cappuccino at home then this would suffice.

Good little machine!
I absolutely love my coffee but spend a fortune on takeouts. I love this little machine which makes a really nice cup. Its easy to use and looks smart on my kitchen counter top. Saving me lots on cafe bought coffees!!! I chose the silver model but comes in a great range of colours red and black

Great little machine
Use this machine 2-3 times a day without any issues and love it. Simple to use and makes great coffee for a bargain of a price in my opinion. Perfect size if you're just after a couple of cups at a time. It did leak a bit when I first got it but it must have settled itself as this is no longer an issue.

Perfect! Can't live without it!
Love this little machine!! Upgraded from an Aldi pod machine and haven't looked back! Love the taste of my coffee which comes out with a lovely froth without having to use the milk frothier. I love how compact and easy to use this little machine is. Easy to clean and well worth the extra time it takes to manually make your coffee opposed to using a pod machine and better for the environment!!. We use our coffee grains in the garden!

Love my coffee machine
This is a great coffee machine. The coffee is so creamy and tastes great, it's extremely easy to use. I suggest watching tutorials before setting up this coffee machine so you know what you're doing. Descaling is easy but again watch a tutorial or 2 on how to do it. It's easy once you know exactly what you're doing
June 14th 2017 Update: Beautiful coffees
I have only had mine for 3 weeks and although it had to be returned as it was faulty I still loooove the coffee. It comes out so creamy and the crema is beautiful. It also makes lovely silky milk every time. It's easy to use but I suggest going on YouTube on how to set it up and also of how to descale it as it's a bit weird. I do recommend buying this though

Excellent, highly recommended
This is a very good machine after a series of Sunbeam coffee machine breakdowns and returns. I discovered that you can get a mug under it by removing the drip tray. It has a small water resevoir but that's OK, it's right next to the sink. It is also fairly quiet and makes a great coffee. The steamer makes great milk froth easily and the nozzle doesn't get milk burned onto it. I just ignore the flashing descale light - it still works perfectly and I'm not spending $29 on descaler beacuse a light says so, I know this is at my own peril ! It did come with a small amount of descaler though.

My light for descaling stayed on too after we descaled it 3 times. Now it has stopped pouring coffee. It comes out in dribbles. I did the water hardness trick too but it still isn't working properly. Any ideas?

Hi Libpac, I must say I was a bit put off the Delonghi Dedica due to a number of reviewers mentioning issues with the descaling function. I had a Sunbeam Cafe Series that lasted ten years that I never once descaled!! As I have had the Dedica for a few weeks I can not advise you at all about the descaling other than read the instructions carefully (which you probably have done already). The only other thing I can remind you of is that the Dedica (and other machines) can be very fussy regarding overfilling, over tamping and too fine a grind. You probably are doing it right....but just in case...I have our grinder just a bit finer than the coarse setting...I fill the basket to the top with loose grind, level off and gently tamp down so that I have about 5mm of clear space in the basket from the top. In the first week I was putting too much and too fine a grind and tamped too hard. and it either would not come through at all or just dribbled. If in doubt...if you have accurate kitchen scales use 7 grams for the single cup and around 10 - 12 for the double.. The Dedica does not take much coffee! Hope that helps! let me know how you go...because I will probably hit the same problem too! Regards Bernard
Watch the video on youtube and follow allong. Most importantly ## power off in correct sequence or you will have to do it over again .
