Hi
I have just bought this product and as well as having issues with the smell (like others) when I turn the thermostat down - there is no clicking sound to indicate the temperature of the room (as outlined in the instructions). This is even when I run the heater on max temp and power for hours. Does this mean the product is faulty?

Hi, the smell is a big issue and Delonghi says to it will gradually go. Your thermostat is not kicking off because your room is big / open / ventilated. So in this case the heater will keep running on max power and temp for hours. To narrow down the issue, run the heater in a closed room and test (probably when no one is sleeping inside).

The "Burning In" smell should go away. Its important to turn both the thermostat and power settings to max. Put a half a bucket of water next to it and make sure you have some free flow of air when doing this. Preferabltly open door or window close to the radiator.
Also make sure you have removed all the packaging.
Mine is working fine with no smell at high or low settings. Took just over 2 hours at max to burn off...
Another important note is that if you have a dusty house the dust that settlern on the radiator and in the columns will burn off at high settings. Just use a vacuum cleaner on it to remove the dust every now and then...

Hi what is the running cost of a column oil heater vs gas vs radiator type?

Regarding the costs, not sure the exact price. But from what I know, gas heater will be the cheapest to run overall (as long as it has a 6-star rating) and then a column heater, but again all of this depends on the star rating of the product, how big your room is, whether it's well insulated (so the heat doesnt escape) and the quality / performance of the heater.
