less than average heating
We have the small version (7 fins?) of this and as mentioned in Choice Magazine, it has 'borderline heating'. If we switch it on at 10pm our smallish 4x4 bedroom will be almost warm by 4am...as compared to the cheap Goldair model which warms up the kids room in no time at all. Also I find it very difficult to read the dials against the black background, so poor design. Next time I'll read Choice before I buy.
Oh yes, the enclosed design also means our toddler can drop plastic toys into the tube holes.

Great heating! Love the timer function
Great value heater with a timer function that lets you turn program it for various times during the day. I live in Canberra where it's freezing, and I have two of these heaters - they keep the house toasty (3br house). You may wish to have a third heater depending on the layout of your house.

1 month worth of good heating
It managed to heat up small-to-medium rooms quickly, and held a good temperature. Controls are easy to operate, no problems there. But then it began shorting out and shutting itself off. We've tried multiple wall sockets in different areas of the house, trying to isolate the problem and the unit continues to shut itself down, often tripping the surge protector with it.

Great heater and excellent service
I bought two of these Delonghi TRD42400MT oil column heaters as I have a large area to heat up and it's cold here at night.
This heater for its function deserves 10 stars - it really is very good.
You need to run it at high for a few hours (I did it for longer over several days because these heaters tend to smell a bit too strong for my sensitive nose) and if you have it in a small room (like a bedroom or lounge room with a door to close the room off), it heats it so well that it feels almost like a sauna. You'd need to have it on the low...Read more
er settings to ensure it doesnt get too hot. If you use the heater in a larger room that is closed off, again, it warms the room well and is quite nice. It isnt as hot as it would be in a smaller room, but it is really nice and warm even on the medium heat settings. If you have it on the higher heat settings, then it's really warm. The other good thing about this heater is that it's got a timer, so you can make it start heating up before you wake up so your kitchen / lounge room area is warm when you get up. It's clever to have it there.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent style and heating capacity but electronics may not suit some situations.
The TRD4 2400ET is a solid, well constructed and attractive oil-column heater. The electronic control panel looks very smart, the large heating fins are nicely designed to optimise heat distribution, and most importantly this appliance can generate the perfect amount of heat when needed. Insofar as controlling temperature goes, this is about as good as it gets for a free-standing electric appliance.
Setting adjustments are made easy with intuative controls and a tastefully designed display. Brightness can be adjusted to 3 different intensity...Read more
levels that come in handy when the heater is used in dark situations such as a bedroom. The TRD4 2400ET includes an "Eco" function that automatically chooses the most efficient power settings to reach and maintain the desired temperature. I was impressed at how well this feature worked and appreciated being able to see which power levels the appliance was using (off, low, med, or high) at any one time. It really does save you from having to constantly fiddle with power controls. Cold rooms heat up fairly quickly, but more impressive is the ability of the TRD4 2400ET to maintain a stable temperature once the desired level was reached. The combination of Eco mode and precise (digital) temperature settings prevents the surroundings from overheating or cooling too quickly. Eco mode uses low power to correct small temperature variations. Unfortunately the electronics present several critical downsides that you do not find on the manual models;Similar opinion? I too find the timer function restrictive. It would be perfect for me to have it running in the kitchen for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening as an example. I have tried to plug a timer into the socket and set the time for on an off that way, did not work. Now I will set it on 19 degrees and have it run all the time, not too happy with that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
