I have just purchased a delonghi magnifica s machine and it is only 1 week old and the descaling light has just started to flash today? I was told that I wouldn’t need to descale it for at least 2 months?

I had that happen to me as well. I called the customer service line and was told to change the water hardness level on my machine. I use distilled water, but the hardness level was set to tap. Once I set my hardness level very low, the light went off and hasn’t come back on.

Cheryl B.DeLonghi

Hey guys the water hardness is based on how many coffees you make and the setting you put the machine too. If you have very hard water like WA and Northern QLD and SA then setting 4 is required as the scale will build up much faster. There is a test that comes with all our machines that you do and it tells you which setting is best for the water you have. If using filtered water than you can generally just go to setting 1 which is for the softest water and longest time between descales.

We have just replaced our worn out Primadonna XS with a new Magnifica S. We have spent a couple of weeks trying to get the settings right. We are using the same brand of coffee beans but have never been happy with the coffee taste. It tastes and smells burnt and bitter with very little crema. Any suggestions?

Hi coffee mates
My Magnifica S ECAM 22.110 is about 7 years old. The steam dial (the plastic silver lever that 1/4 turns to produce steam for cappuccino) has split and broken away.
I bought a replacement part (https://www.4delonghi.co.uk/product.pl?pid=2987374). It's referred to as a dial in the instruction manual but the spares site calls it a knob.
Anyway, the new part has what looks like a slim brass ring at the end. My broken one is missing this bit, which is buried deep inside the machine and I can't reach it.
Does anyone know how to dismantle the machine enough so I can fit the replacement part? I've seen a couple of Youtube videos showing how to dismantle other Delonghi machines, but not this one.
I've contacted the spares site for detailed instructions, but in the meantime I thought I'd ask here.
Thanks in advance!

Look I know the metal ring you are talking about, I just can't imagine where it ended up. This could be worth a try. Turn the power off and unplug it from the wall. Get a long piece of cotton and tape or tie it to a magnet that fits thru the hole, let it drop straight down and have a bit of a fish, if you pick it up pull it all the way up to the hole and then get your tweezers and grab the sucker. Happy fishing!

My delonghi Magnifica S delivers very uneven amounts of coffee when making 2 cups. Can this be adjusted?

Liz, it doesn't sound right to me. Each coffee generally speaking should be the same, if you are using the same button on each occasion, my advice is contact Delonghi support, they are really good at supporting us. It could mean your machine has to go to a repairer if it is still under warranty. Good Luck.

Same. Followed the instructions to a tee and it’s still lit up. Seems like a common problem that they really need to address.

Hi Dennis and AJ C, when descaling the machine it's quite important to get the amount of water right for the rinse if you don't fill the tank to max each time the machine needs to rinse after using the descaler the process is broken and it's like you did not complete the process hence the light staying on. The machine still works while the light is on so when you descale next time if you just make sure to fill the descaler and water initially to A and B and then water to max for the second and third time rinses. If this doesnt make total sense might i suggest you call our customer service team they are always super happy to help out and talk you through the steps.
Also here is the link to the how to video note the video only shows the machine rinsing once but it may take two to 3 rinses to turn the light off, ensuring the tank is filled to max each time. The machine is just making sure your coffee will not have descaler taste by rinsing extra.

Hi David, doesn't sound right to me. It's all pretty simple in fact. I assume you have tried to deselect "Grinds" by pressing the Beans or Grinds button it the middle, below the rotary strength dial? The grinds light should go out and your next coffee will be ground from the Beans bin. Next thing to do is a factory reset, refer to your manual. If all this fails contact DeLonghi support on 1800 126 659 they are brilliant or just call them they will walk you through it all.

I bought a magnifica S about 6 months ago. At first the coffee it produced was really good and strong.
The descale light has been on twice since we have owned it and we have descaled it.
The last time the light did not go off but continued to deliver really weak coffee.
Then there was a sound of something breaking deep within the machine.
We took it back to Good Guys and they arranged for service which has been done.
The service people fixed under warranty and descaled the machine for additional $30.
The coffee is still very weak and watery despite having the settings set to fine grind and max amount of coffee.
Is there something else that is wrong as we are really disappointed with this product?

We had friends over the weekend and they put coffee beans in the slot where grounded coffee should go . Do I need to do anything now with the machine ? Most beans came out to the tray and I cleaned what was left of them .

Hey Greg,
It would be a good idea to remove the infuser unit and just check no beans are stuck in there. The Infuser can be removed from the trap door behind the water tank.
Once removed give it a rinse and then check around the area inside the machine to ensure no more beans are stuck around there.
Have a great day.
Thank you for your question.

I purchased the magnifica S in Mid September. I then descalled it at the end of October as it asked me too and followed the full process. 2 weeks later it asked me to do it again. I feel like this is a fault in the my machine as I believe descalling after 6 weeks is excessive and then again 2 weeks later. Also, it always asksv me to empty the tray with the used coffee in it, even though I have only made 3 coffee's since last time I used it. is this normal? with such a big holding, I would have thought it could hold more used coffee bricks than 3. Can anyone offer suggestions?

Mine does the same, I just shake them around and it continues with the coffee making. It eventually hold quite a bit in the tray.

DeLonghi
Cheryl B.DeLonghi

Hi Carolyn,
What water hardness do you have the machine set too? The descale alarm relates to litres of water used and the water hardness setting. So with a higher level of hardness (level 4) more scale is left on the machine and descaling would be required sooner and if you make more coffees than normal that will mean more litres are running through so it will trigger the descale alarm sooner. There is a test that comes with the machine in the accessory pack so you can see what water hardness setting is best for your water.
The machine should hold more than 3 coffee cakes even on the max dose setting perhaps give our customer service team a call to talk through a couple of processes as it may be the tray not sitting right or something simple that is causing the machine to think there is more coffee in there. The customer service team number 1800 126 659.

Thanks
