Great but not perfect
Great tent. It is not easy to put up and you would need to allow at least 1 hour. It is very heavy when packed up. The side poles bend very easily. There is an internal bracing/pole that has two plastic clips. These break very easy and both of our are broken on the first trip out. My mate has a Hacienda and his clips break every time he uses it. For the money I would have expected thicker better quality ropes and pegs. You will need to allow to buy bigger pegs at a minimum.
Other than a few small issues it is a beautiful piece of gear. Currently camping in 35degrees and the tent is cool.

Fantastic Tent
We have used this tent for over 5 years and it has been a star performer, we go camping regularly and I have always felt secure in this huge tent. Despite the size it is easy to put up and have had no concerns at all with the performance of the tent. Lots of internal pockets, and the zips and poles have always been exceptional.
Would highly recommend this tent for any family looking to go camping in luxury and style.

Diamantina Grand Palace Tent
I bought a Diamantina Grand Palace Tent from Kangaroo Tent City North Parramatta, including the canvas sunroom addition, back in July 2013. I finally got around to using it during my recent 5-day trip with 8 friends to Mount Panorama for the 2013 Bathurst 1000. 9 of us slept comfortably in the tent and I think that any more than 10 people would start to get a bit squeezy. However, with the sunroom walls and floor in, you could comfortably do 14 to 15 people in this beauty. By carefully following the instructions, we erected the tent successfull...Read more
y and it kept us warm, dry and protected for 4 nights. Even the 80km/h wind gusts on Sunday 13 October were no problem for the tent. I had to adjust a couple of guy ropes but that's it. She copped an absolute battering on Sunday and it rained for about an hour on Sunday night but thankfully, we had no issues whatsoever. I should mention that I set the tent up at home well before the trip and seasoned the canvas by wetting it down, checking for leaks and letting it dry out. Having read Chris Harper's review before buying the tent, I was careful to make sure that I followed the care instructions to the letter. I look forward to using this tent for many years and hope it continues to perform as well as it did at Bathurst. Lots of space, good in strong winds.Similar opinion? Good Design, Poor Materials, Terrible Warranty
We used this tent as a base camper while travelling Australia for 9 months in 2011. The tent was set up for a minimum of 4 months over at least 6 locations.
This large (16'X13') canvas tent has loads of space and flexible setup arrangements and if we hadn't had so many customer service and warranty issues would have been inclined to keep using it.
The design was good and sturdy, and the additional sunroom with walls and a floor for the front awning gave great flexibility to use it as a third room, or in our case an indoor/outdoor chiro...Read more
practic room to work as we travelled. Setup time strted at an hour for 2 people but we got it down closer to half an hour after pitching it a few times. The tent was shipped with one broken pole lug, and first time it was set-up one pole bent, due to the inability of the tent to fill with air as it is shipped fully zipped up and the instructions were insufficient. It took us about six weeks and numerous emails and phone calls (more than 10) to get the broken parts replaced. Timeframes given by Kangaroo Tent City were not adhered to and each time we had to chase them when they didn't provide a response as promised. Replacements arrived only just before we set off on our trip around Australia. During the trip two tears along stitching in the tent developed and two plastic pole ends broke. One tear was in the floor material next to a peg point and occurred when stretching the tent in position to peg out. Very little force was applied in this process so we were quite surprised when it tore, although we now know that the floor material is weak and very prone to tearing due to a pin price hole (eg stitching). The other tear was in one of the awnings that we commonly pitched and was near a pole attachment point and tore tightening the guy rope attached to the awning. The plastic pole ends broke in transport, squashed in the pole bag as the clips are wider than the poles.2 comments
I returned a diamantina product to KTC and they were polite and gave us a refund with basically no questions asked apart from polite incidental ones. Of interest this was a diamantina gazebo tent that... Read more
we decided would take up too much space when setting up (not once set up) due to its set up procedure. Whilst we were dissapointed with this it didlook to be very well made. My wife and I toured australia in a great outdoors tent that was extremely similar to the tent described above. ours was 12x9 with a large awning. The quality was exceptional, we should never have gotten rid of it. But it certainly did show signs of were are 18 months daily use - as you would expect. The reason we did get rid of it was that the floor was strugling after 12 months, so we had a new one sewn in, and the people who did this did a very ordinary job. However, the diamantina canvas tents that we have seen displayed are the only ones that I have seen in the shops that appear to be similar / same quality and we have just purchased one ie 12x9 with a large awning. I have looked over this tent basically with a forensic level of scrutiny and criticality and to me, I find it hard to fault despite my long camping experience and my extreme fussiness.Similar opinion?
