DC15RCBW (4.4kW)

After reading the manual book, I still don't understand how to use the heater on DC15RCBW.
If I have to attach a drain hose then the hose should have been included.

Hello Jenny
There are no extension available for the exhaust hoses, these units are designed to operate with the length of exhaust hose that is provided with the unit. If you extend the exhaust hose you may damage the unit.

Hi have had one of these units for about 4 years, been awesome. Just recently on cooling mode the unit has stopped blowing hot air out the vent hose. The bottom fan FAN1-DOWN has correct voltage coming from plug, same as FAN2 but the red wire returning from fan motor to C61-P2 capacitor has no voltage. Does this mean the motor has packed up?

Lucy have you contacted Dimplex Customer Care Hotline: 1300 556 816 ?
Unlike many other companies I find they do try to help.

I am grasping at straws here with your problem. You have not mentioned the make/model of your machine - my suggestion may or may not apply.
My own Dimplex portable aircon beeps and switches to a higher temperature or stops altogether when the water drain (situated half way up the side of machine) is left unplugged during cooling cycle. The idea of having this drain outlet closed during normal cooling operation is for water condensate to cool the compressor - which may already be heavily loaded during the hottest days.

Hi!
Does this unit have a remote? It may be picking up a signal from a different remote and interpreting it as something else. For instance, you might want to turn the volume of your TV up and the aircon "sees" the signal and interprets it as a request to increase the temperature. It wouldn't be a very common problem but it's worth checking.

DC15RCBW (4.4kW)

Hello,
I just bought this model from JB. Unpacked it today (22/12). When I set it to cool it takes a few minutes then starts running but NO AIR comes out from the vent. The exhaust has warm air but again NO AIR from the front. I called JB and already getting the runaround. This close to xmas holidays I just want to resolve it or get a replacement. Is there a trick to getting it to cool that I've missed?
Thanks in advance

Eleonore E.Dimplex

Hello Charly M
Thank you for your email query. Assuming the following>

*that the unit is set for cooling rather than either dehumidify or heating ie displaying the snowflake symbol
*that the display is holding solid (rather than continuing to flash as it will until the compressor engages)
*the exhaust hose is placed correctly so that the hot air is being vented outside
*the unit is being operated on a flat, firm surface with the drain plug in place
*air inlet and outlets are clear and unblocked
*the unit is not situated in direct sunlight
*the room being cooled is closed up as much as possible ie doors & windows closed, blinds/ curtains drawn etc

If all the above are true and cold air cannot be felt coming from the front vents, you are able to return your product to the store for replacement within the 24 month warranty period offered by the manufacturer (as long you can verify purchase details by showing original invoice).

... DF being displayed would normally mean that the cooler is trying to go into defrost mode as the condenser and/ or compressor has iced over . This may disrupt the cooling cycle as the unit recycles the water collected internally and washes it over these parts to remove any build up of ice. This issue can be caused by using the unit in cooling mode without the drain plugs in place (thereby reducing the amount of available water to recirculate) If this is the case, please fit all plugs back into position and run as normal.

Do you leave water plug in when using cold air, do not have manual

4 answers

Hi Colleen,
The upper drain plug must only be removed and a drain hose attached when using the heating and dehumidification functions.

Sam L
Sam L

Your unit has 2 water drainage plugs. Bottom for cooling function or drainage prior to storage. Top for heating function.

When cooling, normally you do not have to unplug/drain unless you are in super humid environment. Then you could either periodically unplug bottom plug & empty or attach tube for constant drainage.

Here's Dimplex manual spiel: "When the air conditioner is used, excess water condensation may be produced that cannot be removed via the exhaust hose. This water is captured by an internal container. When this container is full, the unit will stop working and display the E4 error code. When the error code is displayed the water collected must be manually drained.

For Heating, Dimplex manual says the following: "When the heating or dehumidification functions are used the upper drain plug must be removed and a drain hose must be attached."

Have you tried Dimplex 1300 556 816 ?
You actually do not need additional panels to bridge a large opening (such as sliding door) - any material such as plywood or cardboard or styrofoam - wrapped in plastic - eg clingwrap or packing plastic or whatever to make it impervious to moisture (& to improve looks) will do the job - as it has for me. Just affix your homespun panel (say with tape) to original Dimplex panel that has the opening for the duct and you are set.

Hello. I have a DC10RC model and when I use the heating mode, every 2 hrs or so the air conditioner would automatically stop working, then start working again after 5 mins making very loud noise in the middle of the night. Sometimes the noise woke me up and I had to turn it off. Is this machine able to work continuously throughout the night?

2 answers
Sam L
Sam L

I have not had the experience of this aircon periodically stopping. I am not a techie. For that you may wish to consult Dimplex but possibilities in order of likelyhood:

1 An overheating compressor stops the aircon. According to Dimplex manual aircon will then restart in 3 minutes. It is not unusual on startup for the compressor to make a louder noise then during steady running.
2 Aircon thermostat detects that the set temperature has been reached and stops the machine. Aircon restarts when room temp dips below set. If not set at its highest, try setting temperature higher.

I am assuming that you have cleaned the filters. I am GUESSING that in heating mode aircon relies on air intake to cool the compressor. In cooling mode water condensate assists in cooling the compressor.

I am also assuming you have unobstructed condensate water drainage

Dimplex
GLEN D.Dimplex

Hello Anh
Please ensure the unit is being operated on a flat, firm surface with the drain hose in place, filters are clean with no dirt or particulates visible and air inlet and outlets are clear and unblocked.
If the compressor gets to hot the unit will stop, when it restarts you will hear the compressor cut in.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on 1300 556 816 if you have any further questions.

Hi Dimplex
I have bought a Dimplex DC10rc
There was no water drain tube in the box ?? ( The 100mm white air exhaust tube is fitted)
I am I correct to understand that a drain tube must be attached to the middle side drain hole of the of the unit in a heating mode.
I have found water pooling at the bottom of the unit on the carpet.
Is there a drain tray as well for this unit (small black tray) if this is the drain tray where do i fit it on the unit.
Do I remove the side drain plug of the unit for heating and leave all plugs in for cooling ?
How long can the drain tube be ?
Do I need a water drain tube in Heating mode ?
The Heating mode does not create much heat ?

Your questions are addressed in the manual.
Yes, continuous draining is required in heating mode from the mid-height drain. Leave the bottom drain plugged for heating (but really makes no difference). TRAY OF ANY SIZE WILL NOT SUFFICE for continuous drainage in heating mode. A bucket sized container (periodically emptied) or a length of downward sloping tube leading outside your premises (or a drain outlet) are the practical solutions for the amount of condensate produced.

Amount of condensate during heating is NOT a design fault but is a reflection of amount of moisture in the air.

I really cannot recall whether a drain tube is supplied with a new Dimplex machine. Ask Dimplex.

If you have to buy one - measure the mid-height outlet nipple first to ensure a snug fitting tube - from the likes of Clark Rubber or Bunnings or aquarium shop or fit a garden hose - whatever fits. If plastic or rubber tube is difficult to fit upon the outlet nipple, immerse the end of the tube to be fitted, in hot water for approx 15 seconds to soften the tubing material for easier fit.

The water drain is not pressurised so it does not matter what you use as long as it fits snugly around the outlet nipple. The length of the tube has to be at least long enough to reach wherever you want the condensate to flow by gravity (such as the bottom of a bucket positioned next to the unit.

For cooling, condensate is misted out through the exhaust duct. Bottom drain may be required only in exceptionally humid conditions (when tons of condensate may be produced) or for long term storage (to empty a tiny built in internal condensate tank).

Further to insufficient heat, your unit may be insufficient for your space. To reassure yourself, you could find out on the net or from Dimplex required capacity for your room size. Having said that, your aircon will be 2.5-3 times more efficient than a resistance heater of equivalent heating capacity.

Do you ever have to put water into the dc10rc ??? We haven't used ours for 18mths and plugged it in works but doesn't cool as much as I remember.....

No. I do not add water to mine. I have just re-read the user manual to be certain prior to this answer and there is NO mention of adding water at any point. Besides, there is no access point to do so. The best efficiency of this type of unit is to turn it on prior to the extreme temperatures being reached within your room. Ensure you shut as many doors and cupboards and blinds as possible. Once you achieve a decent result in the main room to be cooled you can potentially try to cool an additional room or area. Remember that the unit really only efficiently cools a 3m x 3m room.
