Maytronics Dolphin M500

Whilst it cleans the pool fairly well (walls excluded), the connectivity to the unit is rubbish. Unless I'm within .5 meter it doesn't connect. Sometimes have to try 2 or 3 times to connect. The weekly timer is also inconsistent and I have to reprogram the unit all the time.
If you change the sponge rollers, they will cost you a fortune (around AUD$200 for 4 pieces of foam)
After owning the unit for 2 years I have come to the conclusion that it was not worth the money
Purchased in October 2017 for $2,500.
Questions & Answers
Hi, I have Dolphin M500, that I purchased on May 2018, recently, have noticed that upon operation, power lamp illuminates and the robot bubbles, then it does not move and stops bubbling. Using the remote control it runs for a few minutes then stops, but if I use the remote as a Joy stick I can run the robot.
I have cleaned the impeller and ensured that the drive system moves freely by hand.
What shall I do?

I have recently bought a property with a 3 year old swimming pool with a Dolphin M500 pool cleaner, the unit has been relatively trouble free with the exception of having to replace the floating electrical cord due to corrosion on the connection contacts for a diagnostic, supply and fit cost of $350. I have the following questions.
Why does the Dolphin M500 maintenance manual contain the following advice to
(1) "let it air dry" after cleaning it Pull the filter out, rinse it clean with a hose, let it air dry, why is it necessary to let it air dry ?
(2) "The robot’s handle should be adjusted and locked diagonally in order to ensure optimum cleaning results". Why is this adjustable if the optimum position is for it to be locked diagonally
(3) "The handle angle can be adjusted to determine the speed at which the robot advances along the water-line". Is this a separate adjustment to # 2 above ?
(4) The unit climbs and cleans walls very well but it will not enter nor travel along a subsurface longitudinal 600 mm wide x 5 metre long stepdown.

Hello Jim. Thank you for reaching out regarding your Dolphin M500. Please find information below relating to your questions:
1. Air drying your Dolphin is recommended it will minimise any premature fading and signs of wear and tear. ...

The optimum position of the handle as diagonal allows for the Dolphin to move across the waterline on the set angle and no differing speed as in the straight position it would move up and down. 4. Climbing steps and ledges as areas that require cleaning is not part of the mapping process that each robot undertakes in order to clean any pool. As robotic pool cleaners have a footprint of approximately 400mm, it is not guaranteed that robots will be able to climb steps and ledges due to the variance in size, shape, depth and shape of steps between pools.
