Great Design rleliability and Service Seems to be a Problem

published

Purchased the fridge 3 years ago. Every now and again contents were not as cold as hey should be. Finally caught the compressor trying but unable to start. Dropped it off at the local agents who told me problem is not unusual. The agents have had it for two weeks and still not fixed. I am glad I wasn't travelling as I would have had to buy a new fridge
It is light. The digital thermistat and temperature gauge are nice features . It is also very quiet which in this case was a disadvantage. If it was noisier I may have heard the compressor trying to start
Length of time for the repair

Terrible

i think i picked the wrong service agent but considering its age(3-4years)and little use and service issues im having why would you buy another one.
it was ok when it was working.
the fact that it wont work, the fact had to pay $110 to service agent for aquote.the fact have had no service for three weeks, went in person to be told dont know whats wrong (display says er 2)im working on quite a few waecos out the back.the fact that waeco in wa does not have its own genuine repairer.

OK

Battery is only good for a days shopping trip in the big smoke, lucky my vehicle has a properly wired plug to run the fridge on the way to town. You would need a 130 watt solar panel to charge the gel battery and an additional one is $304 and it's only 36 amp hour [20 hrs]. That's it. I researched deep cycle batteries and I can get good quality unit [100 amp hour] for $280, and a 130 watt solar panel is $1030, so $1310 will give me a good fridge that can be operated by 2 batteries and a solar panel. Of course I could sell it a buy a Honda generator.
It was a gift.
Came with a battery and cover, battery is only good for a weekend jaunt.

11 yrs on - if only all the other s..t was as reliable !

published

Ok this fridge has probably been the most predictable part of our lives in the last 11 yrs. You put stuff in and it keeps it cold. What more do you want ? We have just purchased a brand vehicle (our first one ever) and my wife won't let me throw this unit in with the old car as part of the package. It has never run the battery down and i have always had a cold beer.
Beer is cold
Sometimes, because technology has passed it by, (not sure what each dot represents on temp scale) beer is too cold - is this possible ?

Good

published

Overall, a very good fridge and we are happy with it. We have had it for 18 months so far and it has been really good. We go off road quite a bit, and it has handled that well. Would probably go for the dual zone next time so that we can have a fridge and freezer at the same time.
Good price for the size. Same footprint as the 40L engel but with an extra 9L of space inside. Came with a cover. Handy dairy section.
Can be hard to get to stuff down the bottom as the fridge is so deep. Seems to use quite a bit of power, which can be annoying when you are on generator, battery or solar power. Have some trouble with the lid not clicking in properly, so we have to be careful and check it regularly.

Size cannot be a negative. You chose that size, if you wanted more room in it, you should have bought a bigger one!!

CF-50

my cover lid latch does not seem to work. Fridge OK when stationary but lid does not lock down. Looks to me like latch spring has been put on backwards as the lid latch pushes back out when let go. Anyone got this same problem
