Worst customer service
My roof is leaking and take them ages to fix it. When you try to contact them, their number goes to answering machine. They ask you to email them instead. I email them, it will take them weeks to reply. Cant you imagine dealing with builder who cant communicate. The sales department always do very good job. They will ask you to sign the contact as soon as possible. But the service after that just down the hill.

This is a terrible building experience with Don Russell Homes. They are absolutely terrible, terrib
I am so frustrated during the building period with Don russell homes. There are so many issues during building with them. I can't write all of it here. Initially they built a roof shape which it is different with the sketch drawing of my signed contract. They took down the whole roof and re-do the roof, which cause the building process delayed for two months. They built a very small window for my study room and ask me to install a skylight. In addition, they build a poor quality drive way and it is broken after I moved in one week and when I a...Read more
sk them to repair it, they said it is my responsibility to maintain it. Up to now, they remain refuse to do repairing. During whole building process, they are just demanding more money from you and ignore the building quality level and post building service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fuss free. friendly competent staff and a great result
This home is for my retirement and I am a fussy type. From start to finish, all my requests were met with a "can do" approach from Don Russell Homes and all were delivered. The quality is excellent and all the tradesmen used were the top of their game. Supervision by Gavin was A1 and he went well beyond what could normally be expected. I am a very happy customer indeed.

Very happy clients
We built our Don Russell Homes several years ago and were very happy with the service and workmanship. We would highly recommend Don Russell Homes to any prospective client. We found the staff to be very knowledgeable in all aspects of the building process and the whole experience went very smoothly. Over the years that we have been in the house we have had very little maintenance and we love our new house.

Excellent!
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank Don Russell Homes for building such a beautiful home for us.
This was our first time we build, so we spent several weekends visiting display homes and thinking about different home elevations, layouts and finishes for our home when we came across Don Russell Homes a builder that impressed us with excellent quality trough the whole range of their display homes. Soon after that we made the decision to build with them.

They had a very knowledgeable, professional and helpful team to listen and support us through the process. After only 6 months we were handed over the keys to our beautiful home. They meet every single one of our expectations, and deliver everything that was promised.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Totally Satisfied
We signed to build our "final" home with Don Russell in July 2013 and had mixed memories of our 2 previous building experiences. Construction commenced April 2014 (DRH were very understanding and fair with pricing as it took more than 6 months to sell our home). From Pre-start through to handover, we were very impressed with the professionalism of ALL DRH staff who responded to any issues quickly and efficiently. The quality of the build is excellent - a fact noticed by several of our friends who have had varying experiences with building. To date we have only a few very minor issues to report for maintenance. In summary we would highly recommend DRH to prospective home builders.

Very Happy
We built with DRH in May 2013. This was our first time building and we were very nervous. We did a lot of research before deciding to go with DRH.
The Construction Manager [name removed] was fantastic and was always on hand to answer any queries we had along the way and put our minds at ease.
From the first design, through pre-start, handover and after care we could not fault DRH.
Our 420m2 build was completed within 8 months.
The level of finishing was what you would expect from a top-class builder.
I have recommended this builder to a number of my friends and would have no hesitation in building with them again in the future.

Facts reign supreme in this medium of communication
I wish to share my experience with the Management, contractors and sub-contractors from developer/home builder Don Russell Homes (DRH).
The catalogue of issues commenced when I entered a contractual arrangement with DRH to develop and construct a land and home package.
1. The initial design plan placed the water meter in spoor location which encroached the access to my garage. installation. The incorrectly locales of the water meter wasn't identified until I submitted an enquiry regarding the alignment of the driveway. Due to the meter ha...Read more
ving been already installed, I was advised by DRH I would be required to pay a monetary contribution towards the relocation of the Water Meter. arrangements between DRH and the Water Corporation being in place with the meter installed, I was advised by DRH I would be required to pay a monetary contribution towards the relocation of the Water Meter. 2. In contradiction to the house plans, the garage area was reduced from 37.01 sqm to 35.62sqm without any consultation. 3. The initial pre construction inspection was undertaken on the 11th October 2013. Due to the general level of unsatisfactory workmanship I decided to obtain an independent building report. The independent report listed an incredible 100 items which required rectification. Items included unpainted doors, unfitted door handles, roofing issues, erratic and substandard laying of floor tiles within the wet areas are only some of the matters to be resolved. 4. Don Russell Homes removed two packs of pavers from my driveway following the initial inspection, which I consequently asked to be returned. To my shock and dismay, a mere 34 pavers were returned to my property. The former site supervisor from DRH subsequently advised he had been instructed to return only 34 pavers, I can only surmise that this was an act of spite as I had previously complained about the poor workmanship I had encountered.Similar opinion? Don Russell Homes
The poor quality and time frame of this build from start to finish has been appalling. We were promised a smooth, no fuss build from the start as we have been mucked around before. We signed our contract in April 2012 and we still do not have a home to move in to. The supervisor is absolutely useless and if it wasn't for my Husband pointing all the issues out we would be even further behind. The contractors are terrible and their workmanship even worse. Then to top it off they are all filthy pigs. They leave their food (tuna tins etc) all...Read more
over the floors in the house, they put their smoke butts out on our floor, there are no bins out the front of the home so there is rubbish blowing all over the neighbourhood. As soon as our toilets were put in they took the toilet away from the front of the home and now we have contractors making an absolute mess of OUR toilets. I am so unhappy with Don Russell Homes that I am lost for a word to describe it overall. We have paid top dollar for budget workmanship. Everything from start to finishSimilar opinion? Couldn't be happier!
We took possession of our home in Dec'12 & found the whole process from signing up, to pre start, to build very smooth. Everyone was professional & the supervisor was always on call & available for us to work in with all the contractors. A major plus was the timing of the build which moved between stages without delay. I've recommended a family member to go with DRH. I'll be happy to report on progress there as well!
Good quality workmanship & availability of DRH staff at all key stages.

Dont bother.
Overpriced and poor quality workmanship. But at least we got a decent coffee machine out of them. I would seriously advise doing your homework first before using this builder or at least using an independent supervisor.
Like the style of the home.
nothing was done properly and i mean nothing. Every trade mucked up.

How are their display homes? Thinking of buying one, but seems expensive. Is it because of their 'workmanship', high-grade material used or too many features or expensive tradies?
3 answers
To be honest - their workmanship was poor....but may be of a higher standard in their display homes - because that is a point of sale. Material is standard - but they will be quick to tell you otherwise....our choice of appliances and fittings was of low quality - anything of a higher standard ... costs more....
We had a positive experience. Communication was great. Their customer support person was always on the ball and available to answer questions. We were assigned a building supervisor who always took our calls and lined up the trades for a fast build. It all went smoothly. They were very professional and customer orientated.
Display homes prices are the true yardstick of the actual prices the high quality finishes these builders promised in their sales pitches. If you are going for the lower priced packages and specifications, expected much less in all things, quality, workmanship, timeline and etc.
