This product should be removed from the market as it's got to be a safety risk. Our builder installed this heap of junk when we built. If I'd known more about hot water systems I would have done some research and chosen something that wouldn't put my families health at risk. Over a period of a month this pathetic excuse for a hot water system has been turning our water orange. Orange water comes from all our house taps after the hot water has run. We then have to clear the system by running cold water for many minutes. Plumbers hate these...Read more
units, as soon as we contacted a plumber he knew what the problem was and asked if we had a dux heatpump. We contacted several plumbers for second and third opinions... all had the same answer. The unit is 7 years old but seriously turning water orange.?? It would be better if the thing just stopped working instead of polluting our drinking water system. Apparently it's very common for these units to pump their vile waste into the plumbing system. Do yourself a massive favor and stay away from this brand completely. For a unit that costs $3,000 you'd except an amazing unit. Plus they are super super noisy and so not worth investing in. Heap of junk.Purchased in January 2021 for $3,000.00.

Hey Dux, my dux heat pump is at the rubbish dump where it belongs. Got ourselves a nice new electric rheem installed today. So thanks for your concerns and generic response to my review. If I were ... Read more
Dux I’d be very alarmed about review after review of your product contaminating peoples drink water. As a business this should have you very worried. But the fact that you still sell this heap of crap for $3,000 at Bunnings is proof that you just don’t care and are oblivious to customer feedback or care. Hopefully all the negative posts sends your rubbish company broke. Good always wins in the end. I will be making a complaint to health authorities/consumer affairs about your heat pump. Other owners need to be warned. I would imagine such a faulty product should be recalled. I don’t know how you’ve managed to avoid it for so long. I’m still very concerned about possible health implications that drinking contaminated water from your system could cause in future years. You should be worried just as much as all your customers.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good but designed to be redundant
Hi had a Dux Radiant Heat pump installed in early 2012. The thing is noisier than an old box aircon som is completely inappropriate in high-density areas, like units. I had it put on timer so it turned off at night and turned on in the morning, I was always able to have hotwater in the morning as the insulation is good. The fan unit failed after three years and a contractor came out and fixed it but they charged me $200 to replace a part. A year later the thing started leaking and by then 5 year tank warranty had expired. I rang Dux to get some...Read more
one to fix it, they said to call a local plumber. PRETTY LOUSY that they can't get people to fix their own product even if I was willing to pay. The plumber basically informed me the unit had 'shat itself' and the leakage was rotting the tank. So basically it's redundant as soon as the warranty expires. So much for 'sustainability;!2 comments

Buyer beware!
I first purchased one of these units in 2007. 3 weeks after the 5 year warranty was up, the hot logic box and fan stopped working. Because it was out of warranty, we had to have them replaced as well as the valve, at our cost - very expensive! Within a week of replacing the box and fan we noticed water pouring out of the tank. That was it - the whole system needed replacing. I was very upset. I called Dux and was told their new improved systems will last longer. I was furious! After an initial outlay of over $2,000 AND the expensive repairs I w...Read more
ould have expected it to last much longer than 5 years! I made a few phone calls, including the Office of Fair Trading. I called Dux back and told them this was unacceptable and I would be taking the matter further. I also told Dux how their own representative had told me on the phone that these systems only last about 5 years. I certainly wasn't told THAT piece of information when I purchased it! A few minutes later I received a phone call from someone higher up at Dux. This person told me that Dux would replace the system at no charge but without a further warranty. I believe this only occurred because I had been in touch with OFT. The system was replaced within days. In 2015 we had to replace the logic box AGAIN. It's now December 2018 and yesterday we had to replace the box and fan. 24 hours later still no hot water. The system needs further repairs which could cost upward of $1,000. In total there has been close on $8,000 spent since 2007. The money saved on power bills does not balance this out. The reason I purchased a heat pump in the first place was to do my part in being "greener" and contributing to saving the planet - something I take very seriously. But does the landfill cost to dispose of these 5 year units outway the fossil fuel cost to the planet? I could get 15 to 20 years out of a simple electric hotwater system I could purchase for around $1,000. We only need one for 2 people. We would dearly love to install a system that doesn't rely on fossil fuel, but as pensioners we can't afford to take another financial risk. It was hard enough on a pension in the first place but we felt good doing our bit for Mother Earth. After 4 days without hot water I'm a little upset! Please, do your research when it comes to these systems, read these forums and feedbacks and make your decision wisely! One good thing that's come out of all this is we've made very good friends with our outstanding plumber!1 comment
Since writing this review Dux have come through for us exceptionally! They have replaced our system with a top of the line electric one. Thank you Dux for standing by your customer. I would like to give Dux a 10 out of 10 for their service.

Saving water with cool showers!
We also bought our home a bit over 2 years ago, got stuck with lemon dishwasher, dodgy oven but we weren't aware we'd also invested in below standard hotwater unit until start last winter when warm water days started. We've made it through warm summer but started back on Lukewarm water for last month. Replacement cost of such a major item is difficult to say least when you have not budgeted for it? Only option maybe to but outdated electric storage!

Dux contacted me from previous post
It appears that maybe they do contact everyone to make it look like they are concerned. Passed on the serial number as requested asked for photos of leaks. No contact since. I have an old Saxon still going strong after 20 years at our little house. Bit slack I think.
Have had win put a rinnai electric hot water system in . Yeh it cost me but no leaks and I'll save on water and heating costs.
I'd like to thank Dux for there assistance. Only joking

Not happy
We bought our home a bit over 2 years ago, we weren't aware we'd also invested in below standard hotwater unit aswell. We've had Lukewarm water for a few months now, we've had the Fan replaced and that didn't solve the problem, what's next? We've got a young family and simply can't afford to replace the whole unit? :(

Have just been told that our 8 year old Airoheat HWS is beyond repair due to corrosion of the main tank & outer body of the unit. Previously paid to have the pressure valve replaced & am now going to have to replace the whole system................ ( It will NOT be with another Dux product ).
Our real estate agent told us that they have experienced numerous such situations with these HWS systems.
If this product was a car there would have been a thorough investigation by the manufacturers & a product recall.
All in all Dux, I would say you have caused irreparable damage to your reputation & standing in the industry by manufacturing & promoting such a shoddy product.

DUX Airoheat failure
In sept 2008, had major renovations done to my house and at the same time the original HWS failed. The plumber subcontracted through the builder recommended the DUX airoheat Heat pump system and approx. $4500 later (including plumbing installation) this new system was in place outside on the side of the house (at the plumber's recommendation). Well, several months ago noticed water (rust stains) on the side of the tank. A plumber was called and the diagnosis the same as one of reviewers below - the core had rusted out / failed and system will n...Read more
eed replacing. I agree with all the reviewers that spending upwards of $3000 for a hot water system you expect it to last more than 5 yrs or so. The manufacturer needs to seriously look at the design because I suspect these failures could be a result of the units being typically installed outside in the weather. Given my experience I would not purchase another DUX heat pump system nor recommend one to anyone either.1 comment

an undoutbted dud. An early unit.
finally gave up on the aeroheat. Ive seen people with them whove had no problmes at all. I guess there was a bad bunch that came out early on, but this is pure anecdotal and not objective observation.
Tired of constant breakdowns, i got tired of calling the plumber. I too had to start the fan with a stick for about 12 months. Youd wake up at 2 at night to hear it groaning away with no fan on, and out you'd go in the rain and cold to wind it on. Basically every night, until the whole unit finally stopped coming on at all. A plumber told me ...Read more
he could convert it to a standard electric, but I didnt bother. Ive lived for the last 12 months without how water, heat it up on stove and have sponge baths. its actually quite ok. Much cheaper. Girl doesnt like it but, though i respect he a lot for putting up with my weirdness. But Im putting money into other projects at the moment, cant afford a new system. Its amazing how little hot water you actually need with modern appliances making their own hot water. ill be getting an instantaneous gas system next when I get tired of the ancient japanese bathing method. BUT. People and your NOISE complaints? Theyre not that noisy. BUT you DONT put them next to bedrooms!! Obviously. If you have done that, simple solution. Turn it off at the mains at night. Turn it back on in the day. Problem solved. And you should use them in day anyway as its a much more efficient process of heating no? Yes. Stop complaining, at least you have a unit that works. Yes they have a fan, its actually quite efficient, thats just the way she goes.1 comment

Read these reviews and buy accordingly
Like so many others here, regret purchasing the Dux as in 5 years it has twice broken down. Fortunately the first time was under warranty and needed a completely new unit as both the barrel and the fan broke down. Second time not so lucky & had to spend $300+ on repairs for the fan unit. Not good enough given so many others with similar issues and obviously a Dux quality issue.
Energy efficient...quiet
Too many breakdowns and quality issues

Sounds like it is cactus, have had a bunch of water heaters pack up in my life and this is a symptom when this happens. Up to you ultimately but the plumber will probably tell you to ditch it go with a more reputable brand which will generally be a couple hundred dollars more.
Get a new system and not DUX which are duds!

2 hot logic boards and a replacement fan and now I notice a water leak from the bottom of the unit. The unit was installed in 2008. This is unacceptable Dux. What is this going to cost me? This appear to be a problem many have experienced here. I think Dux needs to replace these units at their cost or they may be sufficient reasons for a class action law suit. Do the right thing Dux. Thanks. KishoreS

i'm keen for a class action, mine just **** itself not even 5 years old, nothing left under warranty except if the whole tank splits and then i still have to pay for the labour and installation if it needs to be replaced!
I'm up for this action I had my post removed because I told it as it is just a crappy dux product
I will be in on a class action. Our system is only two years old and has been nothing but trouble. There is no hot water yet again because of the faulty pilot light.... grrrr
