Steel based on the rust stained water spewing out of the bottom of mine !
I think maybe steel coated with enamel,best you ask Dux.

The inner cylinder is made of Mild Steel with a Vitreous Enamel lining (sometimes known as "glass lining".

does Dux 250L HWS come with a 2.4 KW element?

Hi Andrew,
The 250L unit is only available with a 3.6kW element. A suitably licensed tradesperson will need to replace the fitted element with a 2.4kW element, the part # for that is H0071.

I am going overseas for 3 months on a business trip. I was wondering what is the best way for me to turn off the outdoor dux water tank? Do I turn off the circuit on the switch outside first and than release the water? Would that cause any problems when I come back?

turn off the hot water power at the switch board and I'd turn off the water at the mains. No need to drain the tank.

how to change electric element?

Flip the circuit breakers off, (turn the main supply if not sure..) turn off the water feed to the house or if fitted the valve to the inlet tank. drain water- open another outlet fitting to let air in as it drains. remove two screws and the housing cover, the element is held on by the four bolts. disconnect wires and then remove bolts. Reece plumbing have replacement parts for both the element and the thermostat.. replace both for some reassurance... always take photos of the setup prior to disconnecting to help with the refit. refill tank before you turn the power on... good luck
FYI, I did successfully change the element and thermostat however the hot water never arrived the next day. I asked a Sparky mate to look at the board and he said its wired ok at the house end but the Energex house feed was suspect. Its the feed to the old analogue style meter which has a tariff 33. I simply pushed the outer protective plastic case of the energex feed (2mm) towards the board and power was restored. (sparkys advice) the screw that had fixed this to the backing board had broken the plastic mount. no doubt they used a drill to install this and over tightened. I placed silicon over the mounting screw which will hold the protective casing in its rightful place.
Note: This is Energex's property and I'm not an electrician either. I was not exposed to any wiring. Should've got a sparky before replacing the 16 mth old element and thermostat. I have spares now though.

Hi my Son and partner have moved into a rental property and the hot water unit runs out of hot water after 1 not very long shower and then doesn't heat up again until overnight so no more hot water for the day. what could be wrong?

Hello Rob, Im not sure of the kilowatt and I cant even check it for you because its in the tip where it belongs. Do yourself and your wallet a favour and do not buy this hot water unit. It broke down 4 times, company Dux coudnt care less and it finally died last year after less than 5 years old. This product is a waste of money

Hi Rob,
Yes your hot water system can be connected to Off Peak power. Assuming you have a 3.6kw element this heats approximately 62L an hour.

We have a dux Proflow 250 have had it for about 6 years. But in recent times, there is water flowing from the hot water tap but its slightly warm, I have checked the temperature setting and its set to 60 deg. Will I be up for a new System? Or is it something a plumber can fix?

Hi Lee,
If you release the PTR valve does hot water come out of here or is it the same temperature at your hot taps? If the PTR is running hot, then it may be an issue with a tempering valve. If the same then is is possible you have a faulty element or thermostat, which an electrician would be able to fix.

My hot water system started to leak from the heater element. I purchased a new seal and replaced it but it is still leaking, though not as badly as before. There was some corrosion on the face of the boiler flange where the element bolts on, which I cleaned up by lightly scouring with some fine grit sandpaper. Could this be the reason for the fail to seal? I also noted that the lip on the replacement seal was not as wide as the original seal which could also be the reason for the leak. Any advice?

The Dux Proflow in my rental property provides plenty of hot water for all the family of four in the morning, but at night, the water is almost always cold. We are not particularly heavy users. The kids can't have showers, the dishes are washed in cold water. It's infuriating. Do we need to get the landlord to call a plumber?

Yes I would contact your landlord. We rent out and our tenants haven't had a problem with the new Dux Proflow to my knowledge so it doesn't seem like your Dux system is working properly.

Have a Dux ProFLow 250. Unit is leaking from the black plastic seal on top. Is this serious? Can I fix it or should I call a plumber?

Not sure. Our leak was at the bottom of cylinder. Best call a plumber and get some advise.

Hi Jon, it is possible that it is just leaking from the seal which is around the anode. If this is the case this seal can be replaced. Dux Manufacturing Limited would advise to have a plumber inspect your hot water system. If you would like Dux to recommend a service repairer in your area please call 1300 365 115 - option 2.
