Hi Christina,

Once you've completed your review just email through your full name, phone number, address where the unit is installed, date of purchase, model number and serial number of the unit to [email protected] so we will update our warranty system details.

Best Regards,

Hi
Current hot water system (Quantum) has split. 315L Electric lasted 6 years - out of warranty - apparently. I am after a 315L Electric Hot Water System that is going to last. Any suggestions of good quality hot waters systems would be appreciated?
Thanks Kylie

We paid a little more for a Rheem. Stay clear of Dux.

No idea mate. Think you might need a sparky or plumber to do the fuse section.

Hi, I have bought a proflo 315L from Bunnings and it was installed by our plumber. There doesn't seem to be enough hot water for a family of 6, even though our previous water heater which was 250L seemed to have more than enough. What could the issue be?

We also bought from Bunnings and had the same issue for 2 years, luke warm water. When we called Dux after a year they refused to take responsibly for being faulty from the first day since it passed 1 year warranty time. It was installed with temp valve, we thought it was due to that or season change winter/summer etc..
Dux response was 315 liter is not sufficient for 4 people, but that's what we had before & it was sufficient?!
After we got the element and the thermostat changed 3 weeks ago, now we have boiling hot water sufficient for shower and washing the dishes. ( & we didn't ask for their assistance this time)
My advice: Avoid buying DUX electric water heaters, they are bad & their after service is even worse!!!

How long does it take for an electric hot water unit to heat up once installed?

Hi, this depends on the element you have in your hot water system. If there is a 3.6KW element, this heats 62L per hour, if there is a 4.8KW element installed this heats 83L per hour. If you look at the model number of your hot water system, it should state which element is installed.

I have a Dux proflo which was installed two years ago. Now it is leaking hot water onto the concrete so much that it has become slimy and hot. I phoned Dux and was told, in no uncertain terms(!) that 9 litres over a 24 hr period was completely normal! No wonder my electricity bill has shot up! 9 litres!

Should have had the outlet plumbed in, Dux said. Well nobody told me that, least of all the installer who came through Bunnings where I bought the bloody thing.

The manual says "it is not unusual for a small quantity of water to discharge during the heating of water in your storage tank". How is 9 litres a small quantity of water?

Hi my Dux proflo is leaking from the joins and seals. When the two plumbers came to give me advice they checked the seals and overflows too, as they said the way the unit is installed affects the warranty, but they were not leaking.. The only times I have noticed it leaking from the bottom overflow outlet is when I top it up, I also find it very expensive to run because in my Dux proflo is connected to the main and not off peak power. I am told it is because of the size. Now it is turned off because the last person who inspected it said it was unsafe having water leaking everywhere, my daily electricity use has halved . To your question, 9 litres of water seems a lot, have you checked with an independent company, I have found the larger company shops that have the plumbers attached to them can give you advice on what is reasonable, also our consumer affairs is very helpful too.

Turns out it was more than 9 litres leaking after I started collecting the water in a bucket. Dix and Bunnings (who I bought if off and who installed it) have both refused to fix it. I got a plumber to fix it, cost $250. He told me it's not a quality product, so now I know, and I hope this helps other people who may be considering buying a Dux Hot Water tank!

Yes that is why I put my product review up to help other people chose with information. I want to help others. It is also time Australian Companies make quality hotwater services that last a reasonable amount of time. I suppose it is to the benefit of plumbers if they have to replace every five years too so they are not going to stand up for us.
