How do I turn the water temp down

1 answer
Magda
Magda

Dear Lauren,

You mean temp of water coming out of the tank? You will need to speak to Dux technical person. Temp of the water inside the tank is set by the plumber who installs the tank to an allowable temp, so I haven't done that myself. But why do you want to do that? Just mix with cold water.... Or do you want to save on electricity bills?

Hope this is useful.

does Dux 250L HWS come with a 2.4 KW element?

1 answer

Dux C.Dux

Hi Andrew,

The 250L unit is only available with a 3.6kW element. A suitably licensed tradesperson will need to replace the fitted element with a 2.4kW element, the part # for that is H0071.

Please email us at [email protected] if you have questions in the future.

Hi...I am a landlord of a newly built house ( 2017) and it has a 5 star hot water system ( Dux) installed. It has sadly failed three times, the first time when the system was 22months old. The plumber contacted DUX and was informed the system had a one year warranty and therefore was out of warranty. I paid for the part and labour for the repair. It has since broken down two more times and each time as we ( the property management and myself) had been informed by Dux support that it wasnt under warranty after a year..I have had to foot the repair bill ( not to mention deal with the stress) . I have all the info regarding the plumbers, the breakdown details and the paid invoices and need to know who best to contact please. I need not have had to pay a cent as I have subsequently found that it was fully under warranty the whole time.
I love to review products and after care favourably and Im hoping you will help ASAP
Thank you and kind regards,
Deborah

Hi,
I have just installed Solar, and I was wondering if I could change when my hot water system heats up? instead of a night, during the day to utilize the sun? Is this possible ? Its hard wired?

1 answer
Dux
Dux C.Dux

Hi Zoe,

If you have Rooftop panels for electricity, you'll need to talk to your electrician and your power company about changing the electricity supply to your hot water system.

There needs to be a 240V AC 50Hz supply to the heater, of sufficient time and capacity to heat the tank completely from cold to hot.

Please email us at [email protected] if we can help for you in the future.

We have a 400 liter Dux hot water unit. It is solar energised with two panels on the roof. We live totally of grid and on sunny days turn on a switch that connects the hot water unit to our main solar system thus boosting the power to the unit and usually never have a problem. Today however, during this process we heard a short rumbling sound coming from the heater. I went and checked the solar readings and the power going out had not decreased (which it usually does by around four watts when boosting the power to the hot water unit) My questions are what would this sound be thermostat related and would the thermostat cut off the extra power coming into the unit and be the reason the solar power reading has not decreased?

The only thing that can cause rumbling would be a lack of water into the tank due to an air lock.

By the way, is this a solar hot water heater with solar thermal (water) collectors on the roof heating the water or is it a normal electric storage heater powered by PV panels on the roof?

Massive electricity bill that I'm attributing to the water heater (which I've set to lowest temp on thermostat). I see it's a 2007 model - would you agree it would be chewing up power?

3 answers
Dux
Dux C.Dux

Hi Jane,

Thanks for raising that question.

Unusual high energy use - if there is no corresponding high water use, could possible indicate a leaking tank, a slow leak there could possibly be causing the thermostat to come on more than normal.

So we can understand the specific details can you please email through your full name (state this username as well), best contact number and serial number to [email protected] so we can call you back, talk through the issue and try and resolve it for you?

I have not used other brands of hot water system, so there is no comparison of power consumption. But the Dux I had last for almost 16 years and worked well.
Compared to the electricity bill, purchase and install a new hot water heater cost at least $1700+, so to me, the life of the hot water system itself is more important.

Thanks for your reply. My parents have never had an issue with this unit either, until I moved in! I have a feeling it could be the thermostat as despite being set to lowest temperature, the water is very hot
