Cinetic Big Ball

I have a Dyson cinetic big ball, while operating it the other day I lost a part from the brush bar, the part that is missing is where the filter is (the round plug for want of a better word that goes over the filter. As this is missing the brush bar has no suction. I am trying to find where I can purchase this part and not have to replace the whole brush bar

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for your question. The circular piece that holds in the brush bar is called the end cap, this is the part that you would remove with a coin. The part on the other side that looks like a mesh filter is called the Lint Filter assembly.

Please email our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, the machine's serial number and a description of the issue and a photo of the affected area and we will be happy to help.

Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor

I have a cinetic big ball Dyson multifloor but I do not know if the blue part on the musclehead is supposed be down while doing timber flooring or up. Anyone?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi there,

Thanks for your question.

The purple seal around the underside of the musclehead floor tool should be in a down position when the machine is switched on and the floor tool is on a hard floor surface, it should retract upwards when on carpet. Please note that you can also adjust the suction using the 2 red sliders on the top of the head.

Please note that the suction needs to be going through the head for it to be able to adjust.

If you need further assistance please reach out to our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, a description of the issue and the machine's serial number and we will be more than happy to help.

Cinetic Big Ball Allergy

I have a Dyson 214891-01 Cinetic Big Ball Allergy Barrel Vacuum and recently bought a Dyson 920018 Swivel Hard Floor Attachment, but it does not fit my vacuum! This is despite it being advertised as "fits all models except DC01, DC21 Motorhead, DC23 Motorhead and cordless models". Is there an adapter to make it fit?

Hi Rain,

Thank you for your query.

In the box included with your Cinetic Big Ball machine at time of purchase, there is an adaptor included to allow use of accessories purchased at store. You can see it in use here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGAgc2Cw6wg

We recently purchased a Big Ball Multi Floor. It is difficult to push on the carpet even with the suction adjustment on the head at minimum.
My wife was able to use our old turbo head with no problem, but she will struggle with this new vacuum.
Please advise a fix or, alternatively, state Dyson's policy regarding refund/replacement under "fit for use" provisions?

Hi Keith,
I have found the same thing. Hard floors are great but carpet is more awkward. I've found if you don't push as hard and angle the vacuum it becomes a bit less resistant. I also use the motorised head from the car cleaning kit which is so much better. I'd contact Dyson directly and state your problem. They are always very reasonable.

Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor

I have just bought a Dyson big ball Cinetic multi floor and have immediately found a problem with the design. There is a plastic obstruction shaped like a circle that has been divided into thirds in the top of the pipe that you attach the multi floor thing to. This immediately catches hair and then everything else and causes it to block. Why would there be anything in that tube pipe? Obviously this would catch things!
Please reply in a hurry as I am about to return this vacuum because of this problem.

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your question.

Due to the mechanical rotating design of the Turbine Head, we would expect some noise during the use of this attachment. Alternatively, we would recommend a hard floor tool attachment for your machine, please reach out via [email protected] and we will be happy to help you further.

Hi Susan,

Thanks for your question.

As the turbine head is powered by the suction from the motor, we'd recommend to fully check the machine over as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o3L4TmQimo, also remove the turbine head and check it over as shown here: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/cy23_new/dyson-cinetic-big-ball-animal-pro/my-machine-is-not-working/floor-tool-is-not-working-correctly/turbine-head-not-working/strong-check-the-turbine-head

Hi there,

We have tested the machine and floor tool to work on timber floor and carpets. As with any machine we would recommend to check the base of the floor tool before each use to ensure that any possible wear or tear or damage is not transferred to the floor surface.

If your timber is particularly soft or easily marked we would recommend to purchase our dedicated hard floor tool to suit the Big Ball range

Cinetic Big Ball

I have just purchased a Dyson Big ball origin & its so awkward to carry. the hose slips out of the tiny slot which is suppose to secure it to the unit. the hose also drags along the floor when being carried & my house is large ( thats a lot of hose dragging & wear ). the whole unit appears to be very unbalance when being carried. My old Dyson never had these problems. is this just bad design that I shall have to put up with as the unit was way to expensive to replace? Suction is very strong....too strong for some surfaces as it gets stuck & even with the lever to reduce this fully opened?

1 answer

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Weig,

Sorry to hear this,

The hose has a red lever that need to be engaged to ensure the hose is fully locked in. In carrying the machine, simply hook the back of the floor tool onto the stow area of the machine, and lift the handle, with the extension tube on an angle across your body.

Some Cinetic Big Ball machines also have a red suction control sliding tab on the head, please reach out at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you with your machine.

HI We have long and thick Carpet in out home. I currently have the Dyson V8 cordless vacuum and whilst it is great on the tiles, it is not quite good enough on the carpet. Would the Animal Cinetic Big ball have a better suction than the V8 Stick?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Kirsty,

Thanks for your question.

The suction on your V8 can be boosted by switching it to the Max power mode which increases the suction to 115 Air Watts, however this will shorten the run time to around 7 minutes. Please also ensure you are using the correct Motorhead for the floor type, the correct head is the purple Direct Drive Motorhead as pictured under in the "In the Box" here: http://shop.dyson.com.au/vacuum-cleaners/handstick/v8-absolute-164527-01

The Cinetic Big Ball Animal Pro does have stronger suction, at 250 Air Watts and has a larger bin. It comes with a Turbine Head, in which the rotating brush is powered by suction.

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for your question.

The Cinetic Big ball machines have the same internal specifications, the only differences are the colour and tools that come with the machines. With your pets and mixed floor, we would suggest the Animal Pro or the Animal, as the Turbine head (for hair pick up), Hard floor tool, Tangle free turbine (to pick up hair from upholstery) would be ideal for your requirements.

I looked at the website and the one available to purchase severally looks like a small area one. I haven't called yet but I plan on speaking to a rep to find out if I can buy separately the turbine head that comes with the Allergy Pro Big Ball Cinetic. I have the multifloor muscle head and it has no bristles just some rubbery type pieces and it feels a lot harder to push. Even on the lowest suction setting it rubs and gets stuck to things like mats, where as my old ones used to glide more easily. I hope that helps :)

Hi Lorretta,

Thanks for your question,

The Brush Bar from your machine's turbine head can be replaced. Please contact our helpline or email us at askdyson.com.au to order a replacement.

For your reference, the DC23 Turbine head (which is often also available at stores as well as at http://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/turbine-head-912969-02 will fit on your machine provided you use the adaptor supplied with your machine.

Looking for advise on which vacuum to buy. Big house, mainly gloss floor boards, tiles and carpet and rugs +stairs. Like to get under the lounge and beds. No pets, no allergies. Like something lightweight so I can pick it up and do tops of cupboards once every blue moon. appreciate your help, struggling to work out the difference between models.

Farah
Farah

To work out which one you need, you'll have to look at what heads you need. So for the carpet you'll need the carbon fibre turbine head, stairs the stair head (although I use the tangle free head as my cat loves to chill on the stairs and it still gets into all the corners), tiles & floorboards the hard floor head and for under/top of furniture the reach under tool. I know it seems like madness but they each work sooo well for their intended job but not at all for others. I believe you can look on the Dyson website to see which heads are included for the different vacuums, or you can buy them separately (but would be quite expensive). I can carry it while doing the stairs so it's pretty lightweight. Hope that helps!

Thanks Farah, just read your review. You purchased the animal pro. Did you buy extra attachment? And why did you choose the pro rather then the standard animal? My house seems similar to yours I have narrowed it down to the animal or animal pro. Thanks for advise.

The machines have exactly the same internal specifications. The only differences are in the machine's floor tools and accessories. The Cinetic Big Ball allergy will be best suited for homes with allergies and will have the best pick up of hair or threads especially on carpet.

Hi Katie,

Thanks for your question.

Our Cinetic Big Ball machines have no filters to wash or replace.

The machine does have an inaccessible internal post-motor HEPA filter that ensures the air leaving the machine is cleaner than the air going in. This filter will never need any owner maintenance and will last the lifetime of the machine.
