Hi,
My Dyson DC37 is four years old. I'm finding I need to clean the filter just about every time I vacuum now. Do I need a new filter?
Thank you

We certainly wouldn't expect you to need to wash the filter every vacuum and will be happy to help.

Please forward your details and the serial number of your machine to our Dyson Experts via [email protected]. We will be in touch shortly to help get this sorted.

DC37C Multi Floor

I have received a DC37C for Christmas and want to know if it is good for picking up cat fur. If there is a better machine, what would it be?

3 answers

Hello Julz, Honestly i do not own any pets so i could not answer that, but in general i have had my for a few years now and not 1 issue, Picks everything up off the floor as it is meant to do.
I can not see why it would not pick up cat fur.

Hi Julz,

Thank you for your query.

While the floor tool for the DC37C is effective on carpets and floors, for removing pet hair, a head with rotating brushes to capture this will be more effective.

For your DC37C, a Turbine Head is available as an accessory to provide this powerful cleaning. To order, please just give us a call on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am -4pm EDST. At time of writing, these are available for $129.

Hi Julz,
This machine is not good for cat hair. We have two cats (short & medium hair) who shed a lot. Our downstairs area is tiled where most of the fur collects. Whilst the suction is good the multi floor head that comes in the box is awful. It seems to push debris around rather than suck it up and the fur gets caught in all the bristles. I spend more time pulling cat fur (and other junk) out of the bristles than I spend vacuuming. It's not pleasant. Hope this helps although it sounds like you're going to be out pf pocket if you actually want to use the vacuum effectively.

Which is better model the DC376 multi floor or the UP16 multi floor?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Cath,

Thank you for your question.

It is quite hard to compare these models as one is an Upright and one is a Barrel machine. When choosing between a Barrel and Upright we always find it best to recommend to stick with what you are used to as the transition can be tricky.

Both machines are suitable for both carpets and hard floors however the UP16 comes with a spinning brush which will provide superior pickup on carpet. If you have the majority of your flooring in your home as hard floors we'd recommend the DC37C.

So we can provide you the best advice and answer your specific questions we'd recommend for you to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 directly. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm EST.

Is there any way to lock the multi floor tool? When I vacuum the part where the wand connects to the head moves up and down, jolting the whole thing as it comes back into place. It is driving me crazy and I don't want to vacuum again. I just started using the machine so please tell I am overlooking something as I can't believe it would have been designed this way on purpose.

Hi Melanie

That only happen to me when it is not lock in properly. I will just disconnect the head and connect it again until i hear a 'click' and also your head have 2 icon on it. One is a shoe looking icon and the other one is a brush or vacuum head icon. When u push the brush looking icon on carpet or rug it pushes the head down closer to the ground. Just wait for couple of second for the suction to grip the carpet and then slowly and steady move the wand around for better vacuuming. If you move the wand too quickly it will jolt and not suck up dirt properly. The shoe icon is to release the head higher so it doesn't suck ur tiles off haha Hope this helps. Good luck :)

Hi Melanie,

Thanks for your question,

From your description it sounds as if it might be switching from hard floor to carpet mode each time you push forward and back or the neck is moving more loosely than expected. So that we can fully assess and help solve this for you please email our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, the machine's serial number and a description or video of the issue and we will be happy to help.

Is it true that Dyson Vacuum cleaners should not be used with wool carpets? I have a turbine head only on my DC23 and have been told it is too strong for my carpet. What alternative do I have?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Freddo,

Thanks for your question.

The turbine head is designed to work both on carpets, including wool carpets and hard floor. Turbine heads are particularly effective on carpet as they beat the surface to help pick up pet and human hair and embedded dust and debris. If you have particularly delicate flooring or have further concerns we would suggest to stop the brushbar from spinning to reduce the friction or reach out to your carpet manufacturer for their recommendations specific to your carpet.

Please reach out at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you further.

at $500+ what does Fairtrade say about "fit for purpose"? even after 2 years?

I was about to buy one of these units but now I see all the problems with burnout motors, has anyone pushed the question with fair trade? and if so how did you go.

I am replacing an Electrolux vacuum which was also out of warranty but promptly received a refund with I asked if the unit was "fit for purpose" considering the price.

Hi there,

Thank you for your query.

Dyson machines come with a two year express warranty from Dyson. In the unusual event the machine fails outside of this, Dyson assess everything case by case and, of course, honour your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

If you would like to discuss further, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Cherie,

Thank you for your query.

We recommend something long and thin such as a bendable pipe cleaner, or small pair of tweezers. This will help remove any build up.

To avoid the build up, after each vacuum, we would suggest dusting the area with the combination tool off your machine.

If we can assist further, please email [email protected], and we will be in touch.

Hi,

Do you sell a tool that won't damage bamboo floors like a microfibre vacuum mop head?

Regards,

Phillip

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Phillip,

Thank you for your query.

The Floor Tool included with your DC37C will work well across hard floors with no fear of damage. However, we do have a specific hard floor tool available with nothing touching the floor except for nylon bristles to ensure gentle cleaning of hard floors. This can be found here: http://shop.dyson.com.au/accessories/articulating-hard-floor-tool-920019-01

At this stage, we don't manufacture a micro fibre mop head or the like. Apologies for any disappointment.

There should certainly be room for movement at the attachment connections to allow for the backward and forth motion of vacuuming. If you are concerned that the handle is broken you are more than welcome to get in touch without customer care helpline on 1800 239 766 or pop into a local Dyson repair centre. I have a DC37 Animal and am getting shocks from the handle recently. Can this be fixed?

2 answers
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for your question.

Due to the dust spinning through the bin of the machine, on the odd occasion you may receive a static shock from the machine.

To avoid this happening, we'd suggest to wipe the clear bin of the machine with a soft dry anti-static cloth (available from your local office supply store).

We also suggest applying hand cream (to your hands) before vacuuming.

This should help, but if we can be of further assistance please give us a call on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

Walk around naked whilst vacuuming. I think you will find it is the fabric you are wearing, the time of the year, and the material you are vacuuming. Then again, walking around starkers might shock the neighbors, and that could be worse.

DC37C Multi Floor

Hi there,
I'm looking to purchase a new Dyson DC37. I currently have a DC29 which I am happy with but despite it having been a mothers day gift a little over 2 years ago, my now ex-husband wants it in property settlement and I really can't be bothered fighting over a vacuum. So, my question is, what is the difference between the DC37 Origin and the DC37 multifloor? Is it just the one head attachment and possibly the colour? Is one head better than the other? I love the idea of a head that adjusts automatically but am also a bit skeptical of how well the musclehead on the multifloor may work as apposed to the dual mode head (which I'm guessing is same as what I currently have on the DC29) which comes on the Origin?
Any help with this would be great ASAP as I think the sales end today!

I'm unsure of the differences- i'd suggest checking Dyson website or ask Good Guys. My original head tool was slightly faulty so Dyson posted me the muscle head. I'm not unhappy with it but I'm not convinced it's better. Sometimes it sounds a little rough on my floor boards but it hasn't scratched them. You can't go wrong with Dyson. Their support is great

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Kate,

Thank you for your question.

We apologise for the delay in response. The only difference between the models is the heads that come between them. If you have not already made a decision we would recommend to go to your local retail store and try them in store to get a feel of the difference.

Unsure of weather I can afford one and with the reviews unsure weather I could really really afford it in case it goes wrong and for some reason doesn't work- I have Two high needs boys that transportation to separate schools daily takes up a lot of my wage. I was just wondering weather their was a chance for a product review. I'm constantly on Facebook so I could get a lot of people talking about Dyson. 1 answer
Jemima
Jemima

Hi Annette, we always have this problem too! If you take the barrel off, at the bottom where the hose attached is a screw on little plate thing. If you remove this you can then pull the soft part of the hose away and remove the objects. Certainly not an ideal solution, which is why I'd never recommend this vacuum to anyone. I can't believe they allow objects to enter the pipe that can't fit all the way! Hope I've helped :0)
