The brush mechanism is moving very slowly and and there is no suction... What could be the issue?

Loss of suction is often due to a restriction within the airways of the machine. We kindly encourage going through the troubleshooting via this link: https://support.dyson.com.au/supportHome.aspx/Vacu...

Best wishes, ShanI own a dyson DC39 Animal, with the 1st triggerhead. Which stopped spinning. If buy a replacement, would it be better to buy the newest version of the triggerhead? Would it work with the use of the release button? and would it work with pet hair the same as the initial triggerhead?
Hi there,
Thank you for your question. ...
Read more For the DC39 Animal there is only one Triggerhead that will work with the release button. This machine is designed to be used with the Triggerhead and not with the new style of Turbine head that we offer on other machines. It's acting like the suction is not powerful enough. I've checked the hose and verified there is no debris restricting air flow. I've cleaned the filter. Still seeing the same issue. I've cleaned the brush and verified nothing preventing it from spinning from the axis. As soon as I lift it from the carpet, the brush spins rapidly again. Any idea what the issue could be?
Hi Julie,
Thanks for your question. ...
Read more Some possible reasons this could be occurring is that there is a blockage of airflow in the machine or something hindering airflow between the head and the floor surface. Please check the machine for blockages as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PheQ00a_urU If the carpet is of a particularly dense type and it seems that the head is almost sticking to the floor pull the trigger on the handle to reduce the suction slightly. If this does not resolve the issue or you need further assistance, please reach out at [email protected] and we will be happy to help. Best wishes, Shan Facebook.com/DysonI have a DC39 and the brush will not stop spinning when I push the appropriate button. There are no clogs, but I have hardwood floors and I need it to not spin. When I hold the button down it does stop spinning, however there is no suction. What can I do to fix this?
I normally use the hardfloor attachment for hard floors as the brush scratches my floor tiles. I'm not sure if u can permanently stop the brush. It is supposed to be automatic. There is a circle on th...

Read morefloors. Then out of nowhere it wouldn't work and had to be held down, but like you said, then the suction is not the same. I actually called Dyson and they could not troubleshoot it over the phone, so I went to a local vacuum repair store through my warranty and they told me NOTHING was wrong with my vacuum. They said ALL Dysons that convert from hard wood floors to carpet have to have the button held down at all times. This was confusing as for 4 years I only had to push it once to change settings, not hold it down. I Called Dyson again and they told me the same. Tried vacuuming this weekend taping down the button and the suction is nowhere near the same because the compartment is open. Makes no sense. Probably need a new vacuum now which sucks. Can the triggerhead on the DC 39 be washed under a faucet?
Hi Melodie,
Thank you for your query. ...
Read more We don't recommend washing any part of the DC39 with the exception of the filter. Once the brush is removed, you can wipe the head out with a soft, dry cloth. You can find out how to remove the brush from the head here: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/dc39/dc39-animal/machine-is-not-working/trigger-head-not-working/dc39-check-the-brushbar/dc39-check-triggerhead-tool If we can assist further, please email [email protected] with your details, and we will be more than happy to help. Best wishes, Shan Facebook.com/DysonI bought a dyson dc39, I am so upset spend over 400 on a vacuum that started over heating the first week I used it. I have taken thr filter washed it and checked for cloggs and don't have any! How do you get a refund for this??? Is it the case that they will only replace it with another defective machine?
$400...that's cheap. I paid double that lol. Imagine my frustration. Is it still under the warranty period? If it is, should be able to get a replacement

Best wishes, Shan Facebook.com/dysonMy Dyson DC39 is approx 5 years old & I need to change the filter twice every time I vacuum the carpet & surfaces (which is once a week). The suction works fine for about 5 mins once I replace the cylindrical filter (luckily I bought 4 spares) & then eventually stops sucking & makes the specific loss of suction sound. Not the sort of experience you would expect from an apparently well engineered machine. any ideas?
Hi, I experienced the same issue, multiple filters, which needed to be changed after every vacuum, and the dust sitting on the filter instead of being sucked into the machine.I assumed it was the cycl...
Read moreone that was either blocked or the cyclone components ( ie.rubber inserts inside each cyclinder ) had broken down. In my case it was the motor itself, which blew up,not long after I replaced said cyclone, which as I found out later was quite common on the Dyson DC39. Best of luck to youThanks for the response & insight Mrs N! Yes, it would appear that the dust is just captured on the filter rather than the being captured in the barrel. I thought it odd that there has been less & les...
Read mores dust/dirt captured in the barrel itself but I but never pieced these issues together. Hmmmm, I'll look to get the machine serviced by Dyson. I don't think I'll be investing in anymore of their products. I had x2 previous Dyson handhelds which broke down in no time. Very poor product return on investment in my view. Many cheers!Hi Axel,

Best wishes, Samuel Facebook.com/DysonWhat other power heads are compatible with the dc39 dyson barrel?
Hi there,
Thanks for your question. ...
Read more Aside from the Turbine head which comes standard with the DC39 Animal, there are two other floor tools which are also compatible. Both these floor tools are similar in that they do not contain a rotating brush bar as part of the design, however they do vary in other ways. The Musclehead has a soleplate which adjusts automatically between carpet and hard flooring, and is also designed with suction release control. The Flat Out floor tool is a very simply yet affective tool which has a standard soleplate designed for use on both carpet and hard flooring and is easy to reach under lower furniture. The Musclehead is not currently available for purchase online, however you can review both tools on our website below: http://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/musclehead-965577-01 http://shop.dyson.com.au/accessories/flat-out-floor-tool-914617-01 If we can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to call us on 1800 239 766. Best wishes, Taryn Facebook.com/DysonI have the dc39 and it isn't good on my tiles, sand comes flying out the back of the head. Are there different modes for this one?
Not sure ! Mine is DC39 Multi Floor. I guess it uses the same "motor" but different hose head... They discontinued this particular model for a reason....
Well I dont have tiles but have hardflooring (as well as carpet). I dont use the head with the spinning bristles for the hard floor as I found a similar issue was occurring (Where the bristles are too...
Read more fast and flick the dirt behind the head before the unit has had a chance to suck it away). So I would turn off the bristle spinning (the small grey button at the top of the telescopic arm) or change to the smaller head for hard surfaces (that has no moving parts). I find that works best for hard surfaces, and the head with the spinning bristles best for carpets and rugs. A pain to change heads I know.....Will Dyson ever 'come clean' and admit that the Dyson DC39 Animal is a complete failure?
So many review comments full of consistent complaints, so many disatisfied consumers.
Why are Dyson in denial?
Obviously because everyone will want a refund. They told me I was the first complaint they had received. I suggested they look online. I'm sorry I didn't go to fair trading initially and lodge a co...

Read more! I vacuum everyday as I have three, four legged furry kids. Can someone help us innocent customers please. Not only am I very upset with myself that i had purchased another Dyson but i also told my sister how good they were. ( I was still using my old Dyson that i had purchased 6yrs ago at the time) My sister had only admitted to me today that she doesn't like her Dyson either. They want me to send it to them to be tested. What a joke! I told them it was a bad design. But,I don't think they really care. Unhappy CustomerThis product is simply not fit for a purpose - and the consumer laws require a refund. It may even be fraudulent to sell it as a vacuum cleaner. Dyson will never admit their faults because they are ar...
Read morerogant and ignorant. All they need to do is half an hour's vacuuming in a family home and they will be sitting on the floor poking at the flat piece that connects to the barrel to unclog it, cutting away hair and rubbish that is clogging up the brushes, then they will empty the dust barrel and get dust everywhere because it's got a stupid lid on it and places where it clogs. Then when they go to put it away they have to use two hands just to put the floor tool back onto its clip on the barrel - lift the head and hold the tool at a weird angle and connect to the flimsy clip on the barrel that will be sure to break any day.I am thinking of buying a dyson dc39. I have two short haired dogs that are always dropping hair and a daughter with long hair. My main aim is to pick up the hair left on all floors I.e carpet, tiles and wood but do not want to be changing heads and removing long hair from rollers all the time is this going to be a problem?
unfortunately with dyson animal you will be changing heads and the hard floor tool is a wiggly mess so hard to navigate because its structure is rotating too much during use. for the carpet tool also ...
