Life changing
I got my first Dyson in 2010. And only just replaced it now in 2020 (still working never replacing any parts) Having a inside/out side pet (really dislike pets inside) It was truly amazing. Loads of power a pleasure to use making you vacuum more often and a tru no filter or bag design is so hassle free (could not imagine buying bags or cleaning filters now). And the multi floor head (Is key) ment that you could Vac the whole house in record time. Was it flawless in all aspects no but it was far better than anything els that I looked at then and even now. I’ll never get anything els. Vacuuming is a job always will be but the satisfaction that a Dyson gives makes up for a lot of that.
Purchased in December 2021 at Harvey Norman for $700.00.

Biggest Load of Rubbish
After 15 years of flawless performance from my Nilfisk King, I was talked into trying a Dyson, as they are just the be all and end all of vacuum cleaners. What a mistake that was... While the machine is quite compact for storage, the performance is worse than a $50 Kmart special. On a hard floor dirt is generally just pushed around and only vacuumed when the head is constantly lifted an placed on it, so is probably more effective without a head at all.
I'm not sure I understand the benefit of the whole bag free advantage. I have gone from easi...Read more

This'll be the end of me...
I love using the old DC19... Its awesome the end.
The DC54 is just a great pile of steaming fail from Dyson!
The motor head brushes have fallen off, the motor head just gets clogged up and the little filter on its side we'll just clogs up with dust and that needs cleaning every couple of minutes on its own.
The barrel itself isn't easy to empty in a plastic bag either, it needs a chopstick to help dislodge stuff stuck further up the barrel towards the top - once that's done you've A - covered yourself in dust and god knows what else B ...Read more
- covered the barrel in dust and C - lightly ashed the neighbourhood in your floor fluff... Moving onto another personal hate of this vacuum - the plastic floor broom shaft - whoever changed that from aluminium to plastic to save the possible $10 in profit hang your head in shame... This foray down cheapskate lane now llows static electricity to cling dust to its entire length - which means you are sprinkling dust over the areas you've just cleaned... So you need to stop and get the crevice tools brush and clean it every 5 minutes too... More cleaning of the vacuum cleaner than the floor again - in comparison the DC19 just does an exemplary job and needs minimal fuss to its job...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

My multifloor is dead. Discontinued for a reason
Didn’t vacuum hard floor kicked the dirt around. Bin gets filled easily and is hard to empty. Only used this machine about 50 times and now it’s dead. Been 3 months Dyson won’t take calls anymore as there call centre is jammed. Should have listened to the sales person when he said you’ll be back for the cheaper brand.

Might have a good name but make okay products
I have had my dyson DC64 for about 3 years now.
Though it would be the be all and end all of vacuum cleaners.
Sadly I was wrong.
This machine sucks it has heaps of suction.
But who ever designed the machine has never cleaned a vacuum cleaner.
Its a pain as you need to take the dust collection thing off.
Take it to pieces fiddle around tap it to get all the dust out.
If there is hair in it well give or take 45 minutes once its finally clean you are ready to vacuum.

Dyson says that dust killed my machine
My 3.5 year old DC54 has been used on hard floors only (we have no carpet). We kept the old vacuum for the garage and mess, and the Dyson has never been used for anything other than the house, no plaster dust or anything. It was the worst vacuum ever. Hair used to get tangled all the time and we had to buy a packet of wooden skewers so we could grab the dirt and hair or else it would not come out. The various heads are stored in an annoying spot so they interfere with where I want to put my hand. I had to take them off each time (and misplace t...Read more
hem half the time). One day it made a funny sound and a stinky burning smell. Took it to Dyson who said that it was caused by dust clogging up the mechanism and that we hadn't cleaned it properly. IMHO a vacuum cleaner that can't handle dust is quite a low-quality one. Tried to call them to discuss this, waited 45 minutes on hold (all the while listening to their spiel about how the wonderful design, apparently it oscillates so fast that dust can't accumulate). Gave up in disgust. We went overseas on a holiday shortly afterwards, and we told them we would be away. On our return three weeks later I got an sms reminding me to pay. I tried again to call and there was no answer on one number and an unacceptable wait on another. I finally paid by direct deposit as the credit card phone number wasn't picking up. A few days later the machine was returned to us unrepaired, so they must have despatched it the same day they sent the reminder. Great service, Dyson. I now have to call and wait and wait and wait to fight for my money back. Awesome. I have just bought a Miele Blizzard CX1 bagless and it is awesome. Easy to empty! Accessories are well placed. Will never buy Dyson again.2 comments

Do not buy this product
After 3 years of normal operation the vacuum cleaner made a 'bang' and started smoking. It now no longer works and is dangerous. After numerous correspondence and complaints to Dyson, it refuses to fix this problem despite me having proof of purchase and rights to a guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law. I complained about this to Consumer Affairs Victoria, who told me to take Dyson to VCAT. Be warned. Do not buy this product. Do not buy a Dyson.
UPDATE: After bringing this situation to the attention of Betta Home Living, where the product was purchased, they gave me a brand new Dyson and a bottle of wine. Thank you Betta and I wish you better luck than I in dealing with Dyson.

Dyson for the win!
I got the base model and I exchanged the head with turbo head. I love this model, it sucks up everything in its way. I have had it for 3 years and it has never broken down on me once. I also bought the dyson car attachments and it works well to suck up dirt in difficult places. I really recommend dyson for your vacuum cleaner!

Regretful buy
I wish I did more research on this vacuum before purchasing it! I use to have a older Dyson which I loved and lasted 12years. So I thought, yes. I will purchase another Dyson. What a mistake I made, I can't stand this piece of junk. It's awarkward to empty and clean around the filter. After I have finished vacuuming and have to redo it, as I find it hadn't sucked everything up from the floorboards, even though I know I went over that area. There never seems to be much suction, even though I know nothing is blocked. Please stay away from this vacuum

Awesome!!
Performance and ability to maneuver are awesome and does it with ease. Although the suction ability is incredible and best in any vacuum I've ever used. Also when you use this vacuum you won't believe what it collects and will be pleasantly surprised how good it does it's job. Anyway awesome vacuum, get one.

What a disappointment.
After a few months suction was poor. Only received on floor tool so carpets were never really clean. Not as easy to manoeuvre as i had hoped. Would fall over without too much effort. Vinyl & tile floors were very difficult to clean. Had to chase bits to catch them. On board tools fell off from day 1.

Still waiting on hold
Purchased a DC54 a few years ago. Have been happy enough but the handle broke. So thought I'd just order a new one. Went online and it says I have to call. Am on hold now - 20 mins and still waiting. Your reviews are atrocious - you'd think you'd save face by answering calls!!!
EDIT: 25 mins and they hung up without speaking to me. Great job Dyson!!

Not as advertised
In the commercials they say it fixes problems that others ignore. But this has all those problems.
- It's hard to move and keeps getting stuck in the corners or falling over.
- It is too hard to empty the rubbish container.
- It gets full very quickly in a one bedroom apartment in which only two people live.
- Too pricy compared to other brands that do the same job

Don't buy a Dyson, and don't expect reasonable service
A terrible vacuum - don't waste your money.
After owning my Dyson for 2years 9months the motor blew - one day I was using it, there was a big bang and smoke started coming out. Suction was also very poor after owning it for around 18months.
We have a fairly small home and I use the vacuum once a week. I called Dyson, the lady on the phone arranged for me to send it to the service centre. I received a call 8 days later saying that the motor had blown and that I had to pay $249 to have it fixed.
It just doesn't seem reasonable that after...Read more

Smoked
No reason after 5 years just smoked. Worked well up to this date. I found after research this is a Common fault. Check other models on forums in detail to find out if Dyson had fixed the problem of other models have similar faults.
The motor seems to overheat with the rubber foam that wraps the motor compartment.

Amazing and worth the money
I always brought cheap vacuums until I bit the bullet and purchased a Dyson DC54. It was the best decision I have made. We have had this vacuum for 3 years now and it is still performing exactly as it was when I first brought it. I love that it has great suction, it is easy to maneuver and it goes from carpet to hard floor without me adjusting anything.

Love my dyson
So handy because we can go from wood floors, to tiles, to carpet. Has never scratched our expensive wood floors and always works so quickly as the suction is so good. The automatic cord is an extra bonus as well as all the add on heads. It is very easy to clean

Please be assured the Cyclones for the DC54 are the same across the DC54 range with the colour being the only difference. There would be no issue swapping the cyclones as long as they are Genuine Dyson DC54 Parts.

Hello,
I have the dyson Dc 54 for about 4 years now and it's terrible from day dot. My question is can I or how can I pull it apart to check right in the motor as it makes a squiling noise and has very bad suction. Nothing is blocking it from the nozzle side

My Dyson DC 54 after a few minutes makes a very loud noise. It appears to be working fine otherwise. I wear ear muffs to continue vacuum cleaning. It's about 3yo. Cleaning out any debris from the appliance doesn't seem to make any difference. What should I do next?
3 answers
Throw it out, you shouldn't have to wear ear muffs to vacuum . Shame on you DYSON!!!!!!!
my old machine did that as well …. at the bottom of the machine there is a little squishy tube ….. after completely pulling the machine apart many times the tube clogs up …. after sending the machine back to Dyson (after it blew up) I was told that I should have had the unit cleaned out by a service person..... I was not told this when I originally purchased it ($900) up in smoke …. literally
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Poida,
Thank you for your question.
A machine making a different noise is usually the sign of something obstructing the air flow. We would first recommend to run through the checks outlined on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PheQ00a_urU.
Should you find the issue persists we would recommend to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. Our helpline is open Mon-Fri 8am-7pm and Sat-Sun 8.30am-4pm.
Best wishes,
