Best Vacuum Ever
We had three vacuums in two years before we decided to spend the money and get a Dyson. Worth every penny. With two Greyhounds (who shed like crazy) and a baby who has just started crawling, we needed a Vacuum that would work everytime and remove all the dust, dirt, dog hair etc first time. This vacuum works great on the tiles and carpet with no need to change the head or push any buttons. Every single time we use the vacuum, we get our money's worth and the floors are visablly cleaner.
Totally recommend this product.

Not all it's cracked up to be! Think twice before you regret down the track.
Bought the DC65 Animal upright after using a DC04 early model for a number of years. Only upgraded because I thought the latest model Dyson had to be better than the old DC04 right? Well turns out the new model DC65, the plastic used is flimsy and not as sturdy as the older model DC04. You try to turn the vacuum on carpet left or right and the handle will actual bend, unlike it's earlier counterpart.
The vacuum was used both on carpet and tiled surface. The brush bar didn't last long with the bristles considerably worn down. Not sure how long...Read more
they're supposed to last. Being only used on carpet and smooth tiles you would think quite a while. The Good: The vacuum has good suction and does a good job at lifting dirt and hair from dogs. We had 3 dogs with all different hair types. Worst offender a long haired German shepherd. The bad: The hose is very stiff and doesn't loosen up over many years of use. We had the hose break near the bottom where it connects to the vacuum. Couldn't be fixed as the plastic ripped over the tight spring in the hose. Bought a new hose and its just as stiff as the old hose. Tried to loosen up by stretching hose as suggested by Dyson but it doesn't. This is a key feature that really let's it down. My partner uses mostly and this is her number one complaint. The vacuum follows her around or falls overs when using the hose... :( Dyson say PM for a fix but they have no fix, other than try to stretch out the hose. Been there done that many times...Purchased at Harvey Norman.

It is a good vacuum cleaner but a bit heavy
My wife wanted to buy it. We went and was choosing between two models. Ball animal model is easy to use. It is very powerful. Has two floor option- carpet and wooden floor. Also has attachments to clean lounges/ blinds etc. The only problem is it is a bit heavy to manoeuvre around. Otherwise all good.
Purchased at The Good Guys for $599.00.

Bloody awesome vacuum
AMAZZZZING WE HAVE A DYSON V8 and really like it for small
Quick cleans but need something bigger for the lounge room and for the dog fur.
Sucks so hard it pulls out first where you think is clean.
Obviously not good for long carpet like some people have suggested, but just do the research if it’s right for you.
Great machine for any surface. Easy to clean and empty

Flimsy feeling but powerful.
I bought this after MANY years with my previous sturdy, reliable Dyson. This one is lighter but feels more flimsy. It maneuvers well which is probably why it feels flimsier - more flexible. It is noisy and has incredibly powerful suction so smaller mats etc have to be cleaned with the hose and a tool, but that is not a major issue for me. The dodgy on/off switch WAS an issue though. I had to press several times for it to stay on. I put up with this for a while but when the brushes wore out early on the head and the motor burnt out, I sent it for repair. Which proved to be a huge and drawn-out saga.
Purchased in January 2021 for $399.00.

Worst vacuum cleaner I have ever purchase
This is the 3rd time I have to send it back to Dyson with in 1st year. This is not the first vacuum I have use. 1st time the motor died. 2nd time its lost all the suction. 3rd time it just stopped working. I live in a two bedroom unit and I paid $697 for this product. Also, rude customer service provided by [Name Removed] today while calling the Dyson Customer Service on 1800 239 766. The machine been received by Dyson 2 days ago, though the technicians havn't got time to check and inform me what's wrong with it this time. How come Dyson still sale this type of Vacuums to the customers which doesn't even work for a 1 year properly and charging $697 for that.

Hard to use
Find this machine hard to handle hurts my wrist when manoeuvring. Hard to use the extending plastic hose. Hose does not stay out when extended when machine is switched on. Heavy machine.

Suction is too strong
5 week old cleaner - wish I'd never purchased. Rang Dyson and they told me to contact the distributor.
Sure the Qantas store won't tell me how to fix the problem of the suction being too strong to push around my carpet. I empty the bin and have already cleaned the filters.
Purchased in May 2021 for $800.00.

Only good thing is the suction.
The suction is superior but the cord is difficult to manage as it is so long (some might see this as an advantage but to me it is a constant impediment. There is a screw in the hose that constantly clogs up (manufacturer was not helpful when I tried to problem solve) and you have to constantly empty the container.
Purchased in May 2021 for $600.00.

I love my five year old Dyson D65 Animal
But I’m writing this review to help others get the best performance with a few tips I’ve gathered through DIY. First of all, keep those filters clean and wash the dustbin. When your brushes won’t turn, watch the Dyson video on how to clean the floor plate and get out every bit of string and fibers. When my Dyson became hard to push I discovered I had reinstalled my filter in the ball upsidedown! Reinstalled corrrectly, tightened up the ball, and voila - my Dyson was once again racing across the carpet. Oh, and a tip from the manual, stretch the hose around the cleaner for awhile to loosen it up.

A poor performer
Used on tiles and low pile carpet. Suction was ok on tiles but never reached the pre sale hype for picking up dog hair (Staffy breed - fine short hair). Some parts didn't function periodically even though unit was regularly cleaned and maintained until its untimely demise. Not considered value for money given initial cost, ongoing performance and life span of the unit.

Great Vacuum
I use this on wool hypo allergenic carpet and lino flooring.
The vacuum performs excellently. It's easy to use, not too heavy to roll around, very easy to maneuver around edges and small spaces.
It really makes the wool carpet come up like brand new carpet after vacuuming.
Excellent for pet hair also.
I am really pleased with this vacuume.
Having previously used other animal vacuumes this is no comparison.
I was sick of spending $300 on a pet vacuumes for it to break within 6months or not be good for pet hair.
The nossle on this ma...Read more

Actually helps alot with pet hair
We were hesistant to buy a dyson at first. But happy we did in the end as this machine is definitely better than our old miele vacuum. The price is a bit steep. But overall we are happy and dont have to change bags which is good. Comfortable to operate and not too noisy.

Unusable on plush carpets
Machine works OK on short pile carpet and hard floors but is unusable on plush carpets. It will actually lift the carpet and stick to it, rather than travel over the surface. I sent the unit back to Dyson who serviced it with only minor (and not sufficient) improvement. After its return to me, I advised Dyson that it remained a significant problem, could not be used by several members of the household and in my view its use actually created a risk of injury. I asked for advice on anything I could do to make it useable. Their advice was "we don'...Read more
t have anything else we are able to advise for the Cleanerhead to be easily used on your particular carpet" but no offer of refund or exchange on a vacuum cleaner that might actually be useable - Dyson or other. I have been making do with an old Dyson stick vacuum but this has died - my new Dyson is barely used but will have to be replaced. This vacuum cleaner should not be sold without a warning that it is unusable on plush carpets.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
I will never buy Dyson again!
A total waste of money! Before owning this vacuum My last 2 vacuums were Dyson, I loved them both. This one the quality has gone down hill, it's overall very cheaply made with inferior parts. It too hard to click it into place to make it stand up so it's constantly falling over. It doesn't suck properly even after constantly cleaning the filters. The tool attachment are very poor quality. Sadly I will never buy another Dyson product again the quality is not like their earlier models and there are lot better products now on the market for a lot better price.

great machine spoilt by short brush life
95% of use is on short pile carpet, the rest is on tiles. The unit works very well on both carpet and flat surfaces BUT the brush life is very short. We have had 3 brush replacements under warranty in 2 years. The unit replaced a Dyson DC 14 which we used for 7 years and this had only one brush replacement (although it was due for a brush replacement when we retired it. Both units have been used by the same operators on the same surfaces. Another issue we have had with the DC 65 was that the internal head hose disintegrated, probably due to the...Read more
fact that our carpet tends to pick up beach sand, but this issue did not arise with the DC 14. Unfortunately the handle has broken due to misuse so we have had to retire this unit as well after 2 years use.1 comment

New machine to me- the hose will not stay extended- keeps retracting itself. Any help?

Pull out the metal tube until it clicks
Get a refund or get used to it. Common problem unfortunately hose being too stiff.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
While we anticipate your hose will be taut at first, it will loosen up over time. We encourage to having one person hold the machine in place while a second individual stretches the hose to its full length to help loosen the hose. You can also store the machine temporarily with the hose stretched around the machine. Be assured, this will stretch with time.
