Lots of great functions
I love the look of this purifier/fan, it's stylish and unobtrusive and takes up very little space. It is handy that you can set the oscillation to however many degrees you like, up to 350, so it can spin all the way around and cool in all directions. You can also choose to have the airflow direction coming out the back to give general cooling without any direct airflow onto you. I don't have little kids any more but back in the day I would have liked that this is much sturdier on its solid base than the pedestal fans we used to have, and that t...Read more
here are no blades for little fingers to poke at. There's nothing fiddly to have to dust either, it's typical smooth and sleek Dyson styling. Putting the fan together initially was simple and intuitive. My only issue was the cord being too short to place it exactly where I wanted to. Setting up the app on my phone was also easy and fast. I really like being able to operate it from my phone, meaning if I left it running in the office by accident I don't have to go back down there to turn it off, or I can turn it on in advance in the morning to start the office cooling down before I head in to work. It's straight forward to set timers to start and stop, and interesting to view historical as well as real-time information on the air quality around it. The app has been reliable and connected instantly etc with no problems for the last month, other than when we had a power cut, and I struggled to reconnect the wifi once the power came back on. After following the troubleshooting advice unsuccessfully, I emailed Dyson. The next day I re-tried holding the button in for 5 seconds, and this time the wifi reconnected to it, unlike the many times before that I'd tried the same thing. Dyson replied that day with lots of further trouble shooting ideas, but I was up and running again already. One step further, I was able to easily set up voice commands with Siri on my phone, so I can just verbally tell my phone what I want the fan to do (turn on, oscillate, change speed etc) and it does it. You don't have to use the app - or Siri - as it comes with a simple remote, and you can even still see your air quality information (real-time only) without the app, as its shown on the screen on the front of the tower. Initially I used the Pure Cool Tower in our big open work space. We have had issues with bush-fires polluting the air outside, and our work space can be a dusty environment due to some of the work we do in there creating dust regularly. I was keen to see what the purifier had to say about the air quality and hopeful that it would improve both dust and smoke. Ill attach a photo of a day when air quality was not great outdoors, inside though was kept at good levels which was nice to see. The only time it spiked up indoors was when someone was welding in the garage next door. As for cooling in this big, open space, I had it sitting right beside my office chair and while I was sat beside it, it was lovely and cool. When I was up and moving around, it was not effective at cooling the large open area, and we definitely still needed the aircon. No other pedestal or ceiling type fan would be able to cool that big area either, so I wasn't surprised by this outcome.Purchased in November 2021.

An attractive air purifier but fan could be better
With the current poor air quality in Australia, a dusty construction site next door I was keen to get my hands on the Dyson Pure Cool fan and air purifier.
Initial Thoughts- the item itself has the characteristic dyson slick packaging. There is minimal setup involved, just clicking on two sides of the filter at the base, and the surrounding cover, and there are spare filters included in the packaging. The item is attractive, as far as fans and air purifiers go, and I set mine up in our dining area next to our kitchen. It is reasonably solid, ...Read more
but I would still keep it out of a main thoroughfare. There is a small remote that can be used to control most aspects of the fan purifier, including air speed, flow direction, rotation of the fan and also to flick through information on the colour LCD screen that can be found on the front of the dyson product. App: The dyson link app can be used with the air purifier to control the functions through a phone, set a timer and monitor air quality. It was easy to set up on my iphone 10, with easy to follow instructions and connection of the product to my wifi network. The interface is intuitive and it was nice to monitor the air quality and humidity in the room, and watch it change over time. Metrics: The purifier measures the following metrics: overall air quality (can monitor over time on a graph, ranging from very good, good, fair, poor, very poor, extremely poor, and severe). It measures particulate matter levels at PM2.5 (very fine particles at 2.5microns or less-these are more dangerous as they stay in the air for longer) or PM10 (particles 10microns or less, e.g. dust). It also measures VOC (volatile organic compounds), NO2 (e.g. car exhausts), temperature and humidity. Cooling: The fan has 10 cooling speeds that be changed. I set the product up in a room that is east facing and gets quite hot during the morning, especially as the air conditioning in the room adjacent unfortunately doesnt quite reach the area. I would say the cooling power is on par or less a pedestal fan, I don't think it is noticeably more powerful, but certainly generates a cooling breeze on a hot day. The rotation function is more versatile than a standard pedestal fan, as it can rotate up to 350 degrees.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Pure Cool : Excellent Pure So-So Cool
Straight off the bat Ill say it does one function well and the other not. Design is typical Dyson since the days of their bladeless fans. The unit is compact and stylish and occupies a very small footprint. There is no problem fitting the appliance in the corner of todays' (small) bedrooms even if you want oscillation. The remote is magnetised and fits atop, very Apple and easy to figure out. The display is clear and provides real time monitoring of air quality, the particulate measurement done through advanced laser based technology. The unit ...Read more
is lightweight and easy to move. The power cord could be longer though and the all plastic body may influence buyers perception of it being a premium product. I suffer dust mite allergies and this with poor air quality gives my nose a hard time. The sealed system includes a glass HEPA filter that can trap particulate down to 0.1 microns (Dyson claim, though most reviews state 0.3?) including mould spores. Importantly, the carbon filter removes VOCs including benzene, formaldehyde and nitrogen dioxide. The latter essential for me as I live near a busy road. The machine has been a godsend with the recent bad air quality suffered in SE Queensland. Indoor air quality has rated much better than the nearest AQ station which is less the 2 km from my house. I have noticed my nose is less blocked in the morning upon waking and less gunky. Dyson don't give CADR scores. Breathquality.com has a thorough review and have rated the units filtration performance excellent. This was conducted in a 37 m2 room, not the 27m2 of Dyson's own testing, which supports the high air flow rate of 290 litres stated by Dyson. Moderncastle.com also tested the unit in a closed room and used a professional grade AQ measuring device before and after one hour of operation. Results were excellent with particulates dropping from 599 to 14. I have noticed to get nitrogen dioxide down when it spikes, I need to close up and run the machine for at least 30 - 60 minutes to get levels down. It rapidly cleared a VOC spike from air freshener in under 20 seconds having been in the red zone. 5 stars for purification. The oscillation settings are varied through 45, 90, 180 and 350 degrees and operation is smooth and silent and coverage huge at 350, meaning the unit could be placed in the middle of a room. You can also adjust the starting point of oscillation through the app. The night mode engages AUTO, minimises fan speed and really dims the display, making it unobtrusive in the bedroom at night. It also gives the option to engage a timer or not. AUTO mode in works well to manage air purification, but doesn't seem to consider temperature. One day with good air quality and with the machine showing 29C, it selected speed one! The app is really good and the AQ tracking graph interesting. I set it to continuous monitoring, where I assume it monitors when its not operating. This isn't stated in the app guide but the data is displayed on the air quality graph for those times when not in use. The home screen displays a general AQ rating for the outside and inside air, the latter also showing temp, humidity, particulate level, plus a mini graphs for PM10,VOC and NO2. The app also gives you remote control and the ability to set an operating schedule for morning, all day, evening, night or custom. Something I noticed is NO2 spikes when the unit is just switched on. It will start in the green, but within a few minutes will go up to yellow, orange and then red. This level is not indicated on the historical chart prior the spike. The other items do not show these spikes at turn on. If you disconnect and move the machine to another room, you lose the LCD 24H AQ graph data. Sometimes issues with the continuous monitoring were noted and there would be no graph data for up to 12 hours even though connected to power.Purchased in November 2021.

A smart purifier that moves air
While I dont suffer allergies, my partner does and since having the Dyson Pure Cool in our home, we have both noticed a difference. When I return home from work, the house does not have that shut up stale aroma and we are both having better sleep with the unit in our bedroom. My partner is waking in the morning far less congested and doesnt wake up nearly as often during the night.

ine, most of the time we would use it during peak allergy season or when one of us were sick. There was no certainty whether or not it needed to be on or was doing its job. It provided no indication of how polluted the indoor air was. When comparing it to the Dyson, it doesnt come anywhere near in design, performance or ease of use. With the Dyson you have assurance of your air quality with the comprehensive array of sensors. The first thing I noticed out of the box is the large gaskets that seal the filters, a sealed system with no air bypass is bound to perform better. Secondly I noticed the build quality, its sturdy and feels well put together. Set up is straightforward, just dont make the same mistake I did, install the carbon (green) filters to the machine and the HEPA (purple) onto the grill which are subsequently installed onto the base. I attempted to nest the carbon filter into the HEPA and wondered why the grill wasnt fitting well. A quick read of the manual cleared up my mistake. After plugging the purifier in and giving it a couple of minutes to obtain the current air quality I downloaded the Dyson app. Linking the device to your app is an easy step by step process. The app proved to be very useful and incredibly stable over my weeks of use. It never crashed and connected every time, whether I was home or away.Purchased in November 2021.

Great air purifier, but not the best fan
We got the Dyson Pure Cool Air 2 weeks before the out of control bushfires started around NSW.
We live in an apartment with a toddler, so it was great to have it in our bedroom when the smoke came all over Sydney.
The set up was simple and the fan looks amazingly stylish. I had trouble setting up the Dyson Link App on my iPhone 6, but it seems to work on my husbands Google Pixel phone after a few tries.
Once set up, we loves the digital display where you can see the air quality in real time: pollen count, traffic and fine dust pollutants.

like the 350 degrees oscillating feature, but the fan itself is not that great. It doesn't even compete with the floor fan I got for $100. If you are considering buying this as a fan, I would stop you right there. The air drift is soft, more like a breeze than anything. It does not really cool the room much after having it on for an hour. Luckily the nights were still cool, so we turned it on sleep mode during the smoky days in the bedroom for air purifying purpose so our daughter can sleep without the smell of smoke.Similar opinion? The fan wont stop oscillating even when turned off!
The fan has ok power however after a couple of years of moderate use we have found a problem with the oscillator. It continues to turn a full 180 degrees even when the fan is turned off. The fan will not stop oscillating. A google search found that the problem is widespread, suggesting a significant design fault. Given the price of 5he fan I would encourage other not to buy.

Purifier or cooler? It ticks one of these boxes exceptionally well.
How you review the Dyson Pure Cool depends entirely on why you considered it in the first place. We were, most definitely, looking for an air purifier. Why? I'm an allergy beast. Year-round. Getting a purifier for the bedroom had been highly recommended by numerous health professionals. We'd narrowed it down to several; the Dyson was close to the top of the list.
Why not the top? Well. For starters, it is expensive. And. To be honest, I have no idea why Dyson market this as a cooling device. Surely anyone can see it's just a juiced up fan! It...Read more
s genuinely attractive as an appliance (a Dyson specialty) but it WILL not cool you on a hot day any more than a $30.00 fan. Coming off the back of a four day heatwave and looking forward to several 40+ degree days you'd have to laugh at people who bought this for cooling in our climate (Perth). Its a failure as a fan in general to be honest. It just doesn't get the flow needed in a hot climate. To get moderately decent airflow it needs to be on the maximum setting and, at this setting, it is really loud and raspy. You couldn't possibly sleep with it on full blast. In our bedroom we have an air conditioner, ceiling fan and now the Dyson. On moderate warm days the Dyson can't do the job of a good ceiling fan and on hot days its just hopeless. If you want something to look good and move some air then by all means go for it but don't enter the arrangement thinking that you'll have arctic reprieve from the heat. Its key strength as a fan could be the fact that it doesn't have moving blades so potentially more child-friendly. Where it excels is as an air purifier (preferably complemented by an air conditioner on a hot day). Air conditioners are a nightmare; mould brewing masters and can be really problematic for people with allergy issues like me. To have something like the Dyson as a purifier is nothing short of tremendous. Set it to auto. Put the sleep timer on and it is as quiet as a mouse (it'll rev up occasionally but nothing intrusive). The app is brilliant. I had no idea how bad the air was in the bedroom on certain days. You could argue that I don't need to know but I'd disagree. Even on cooler days when we sleep with the window open we keep the Dyson on and the flow of air can be reversed so that you don't get a direct breeze (clever!). If we have a bush fire nearby and the smoke levels are up (quite a few recently) it detects it and will throw a poor reading. Shut the doors, turn it on and within a few hours things improve. We also have two dogs that sleep in the bedroom and, yes, the place smells doggy so the filtration in the Dyson has actually improved this immeasurably. Its biggest value to us is probably the fact that it filters the air from the air conditioner. This may be the first summer in years where I don't wake up with a sore throat and blocked nose after sleeping with the air conditioner on all night. We have used it every night since getting it and we have genuinely slept better on the whole. Especially me. As one of the original owners of the first (Made in England) Dyson vacuums (which went for 12+ years!), we kind of felt that the brand had dropped the ball quality wise (the vacuum got replaced with a Miele). Just a bit plasticky, over-priced and nothing like the truck-like beasts that the originals were. The Pure Cool has restored confidence in the brand. Its built well, has a solid metal base and actually feels that it could go the distance. Filter life is still an unknown quantity and it must be noted that replacement filters aren't cheap; around $100.00. Dyson say that filters last around 12 months and, if this is the case, then that's acceptable. Parts availability shouldn't be an issue. Replacement parts (mainly filters etc.) for our old vacuum were around right until the end so Id assume the same to be the case for the Pure Cool. Time will tell. Purely as a purifier I'd give it 5 stars, as a fan I'd give it 1, as an attractive piece of appliance kit it also kicks goals. Some of those goals are gimmicky so, in that regard, kind of fun although possibly problematic in terms of long-term app support. So, taking that into account I'd say a solid 4 (or 4.5 if that was an option!). Like I said, how you review it depends on what you were seeking; purifier or cooling device. In this instance it was a purifier so happy campers all round.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What is it?

A Dyson Pure Cool. According to Dyson, it senses pollutants in real time and uses HEPA and activated carbon filters to remove allergens and particles as small as 0.3 microns. Its Air Multiplier technology circulates purified air about the room. It operates via a small remote control and has a night time mode.

Excellent fan with air purifier
Received this fan approx. 1 week before smoke from bush fires burning in NSW reached Sydney and can I say timing could not be more perfect.
The fan has worked better than expected and has definitely made a difference to the level of smoke and smoke particles in our home.
Things I really like about this unit:
1- Small monitor at the front of the fan shows real time air quality. So you can see how polluted the air is in your room and you an actually see the level of air quality in real time. Quite a neat feature.
2 - The unit has carbon fi...Read more

Fantastic, Well-Made, Excellent Filtration. Invaluable During This Smoky Weather.
I received this item to review as part of the Ambassador Program.
Structurally, it is like nothing else on the market. As usual, Dyson design is simple, incredibly well made and built to last. It is also safe - no moving parts to injure tiny fingers, so it would be great for parents with young kids. The remote control slides perfectly onto the top curve of the unit, held on with internal magnets - quite ingenious, and perfect for people like me who tend to loose remote controls. breeze to replace when needed. The fact that it has both a carbon filter and a Hepa filter is a major bonus for those with allergies - it offers excellent filtration. The design is obviously very attractive - sleek and modern. It would fit easily into a small space or apartment. The fact that it oscillates on its axis means that it takes up less operating space than a conventional bladed fan - a definite bonus for those with limited room in their home. Another bonus is that you can control the level of oscillation - you can choose from five different oscillation settings: 0, 45, 90, 180, or 350 degrees, meaning you can tailor it completely to your space and needs. At the moment, I've got it going at 45 degrees so that it doesn't blow on my very temperamental maidenhair ferns. It is extremely easy to set up the wireless connection, and very simple to disconnect from the wireless network again. The remote offers much of the same features as the app, so the app isn't absolutely necessary - but the advanced features are really very handy (which I discuss below). Honestly, when I first received this fan, I was dubious about whether it would do the job - could a fan really clean the air that noticeably? Was the price tag really worth it? My husband suffers seasonal allergies - hay fever from the pollen at certain times of year (plus high sensitivity to mould spores), and I wasn't sure if I could give it the comprehensive review that it deserves, as his hay fever comes & goes depending on what blows in on the wind. My husband was doubly dubious that the Dyson would do the advertised job - he is the cynic of our family.Purchased in November 2021.

This has been a life saver for me
I am asthmatic and very sensitive to smoke. I had a severe asthma event due to smoke from bushfires in Tasmania earlier this year. I purchased the Dyson in late January and it has been performing beautifully since then. Once the bushfire smoke cleared and I began to recover the cold weather hit and neighbours began using their wood fires. There have been many nights when I am sure I would have been calling an ambulance if I did not have the Dyson. It is fantastic. I researched other products but the proven effectiveness of the Dyson combined with a lower price tag convinced me.
Purchased in January 2021 for $799.00.

No more blocked nose waking up
I use to get really bad sinus blockages when waking up, but since getting the Dyson Pure Cool tower I don't have this issue anymore.
I did had to get the fan replaced under warranty after 1 month of usage due to a really high pitched sequel but Dyson customer service has been great to deal with and they organized shipping for it to be sent back for repair and they replaced it with another one. Very please with their service and haven't had an issue with the replacement fan since.

Not sure what I was expecting
I love the look and the idea of this fan, but in reality it doesn't really do much more than a $50 fan, especially for the high price tag of $799.
Fan wise, it's weaker then a cheapo tradition fan.
Think more of how an air conditioner blows air, but without the cooling.
Weak air flow, not enough to help during hot summer days.
Noise wise, it's only quite at low levels (1-6). 7-10 is pretty loud.
I don't have any allergies, so probably not benefiting from the air purifying function.
It does look super cool and modern though, a great look for any contemporary home.
The mediocre review is probably more of a reflection of my poor money management.

While pretty expensive, these Air Purifiers are a pretty amazing piece of kit. Great to look at, take up minimal space, do a pretty decent job of moving the air around a room, are fairly quiet (unless you crank it up to max.. and even then it's not too bad).. and seem to do a pretty good job of cleaning the air. I have Dyson Pure Cool Link purifier. On last 5 days, from around 12am to 12 pm, the PM2.5 and PM10 level spike up from near 0 to mid 35 and cause the fan running full speed for 12 hours, then the level will back down to 0. My basement have nothing turn on/off around that timeframe. What might be the issue?

While we do apologise for any disappointment, we can't offer any insights into what is occuring in your home. If the reading is fluctuating in a small range, this indicates the machine is sensing a pollutant in the air and working to remove it.
If you feel this isn't right, we encourage cleaning the sensors (found just above the filter at the 11 o'clock position). You can also test the sensors are reacting appropriately by introducing a pollutant near the machine, such as a short spray of aerosol deoderant or similar. Once this is sprayed near the machine and it is in auto mode, you can expect the machine to react.
If we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] and happy to help.

Update: Last night we received a lot of smoke drift from the Adelaide fires. The smell was very strong and our Dyson Pure Cool powered on through out the night and proved itself very effective at keeping the smokey smell at bay inside.
