When setting my hot+cold to a set temperature on auto it doesn't regulate to that temperature. It seems to constantly be a higher temperature in the room unless I then set to manual and press the cooling button. Should it self regulate a desired temperature or does it not work like that?

Hi Dean, I find it easier to set the manual function because I work from a home office. I find it very responsive on the manual settings. I will test it out and send you the results.

When a temperature is selected, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool should certainly only heat up to the target temperature.

If you find it is going beyond this, please email [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

Why will my fan not oscillate when it’s on heating mode? I was also wondering why the air speed won’t change when it’s on heating mode

Hi Emilee, my Dyson fan heater does both so I suspect it needs to be returned as faulty, to the place of purchase. Hope that helps.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

If your Dyson Pure Hot+Cool is in monitoring mode, you won't be able to adjust the fan speed and it won't oscillate.

We would encourage turning increasing the target temperature so your machine begins heating, and you should then find it will be able to oscillate and you will be able to change the fan speed.

If we can assist further, please don't hesitate to email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch shortly.

My Dyson hot + cold cannot seem to stay quiet in night mode (when heating). We set it to auto and a room temp and it’ll start quietly enough and then go SUPER LOUD all of a sudden which wakes everyone up including my 6 month old son. Is this normal? Why can’t it just stay in the quieter setting? Help

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

When in auto mode, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool will automatically adjust it's fan speed depending on your air quality. For night mode, this will be restricted to fan speeds 1 through 4.

If these should be too loud, we would encourage manually choosing the fan speed after setting the machine in night mode.

We do apologise for any disappointment, however if we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] and happy to help.

I have tried connecting to the Dyson app on an Apple phone and an Android and neither work. Any help?

Dyson Team ..Dyson

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue connecting your machine to the Dyson Link App. Here are a couple of checks to run through:

- Ensure you have the latest version of the Dyson Link App installed on your phone.
- Make sure that your purifier is not too far from your router.- keep them in the same room.
- Check that your mobile phone is connected to your Wi-Fi. While connecting it is a good idea to turn off your mobile data.
- Check that you are trying to connect your purifier to a 2.4GHz network, your purifier cannot connect to a 5GHz network.
- The Dyson password will always be in lower case and a mixture or letters and initials. Be aware that the "j" can look like an "i"..
- There may be a problem with your router, even if other connected devices are still working. Restarting your router may fix this. Most routers simply need to be unplugged and plugged back into their power source to restart them. Please refer to your routers documentation for specific instructions.
- If you have hidden your home Wi-Fi within your router settings, unhide it. The purifier cannot connect to hidden networks.
- Your router needs to be set on WPA or WPA 2 security protocol.

Hi, my purifier is set to go on at 6pm, the graph is green all day, but spikes and says the air quality is very poor or poor inside for the 10 mins or so following the purifier starting up. Air outside is good/green and I'm not sure why it only spikes when switching on and off?

Based on this, we would encourage cleaning the sensor of your machine. This is located at the back of your machine near the power cord. Remove the sensor hatch and clean inside the holes with a dry cotton bud.

If this continues, please get in touch with our Dyson Experts via [email protected] and we will be happy to further assist.

I bought the new Air purifier cool+hot and i use it to heat my room but sometimes particularly at night it shuts off with out any manipulation the the controls. What is the reason for that? I do not have any setting set that would regulate that purposely. Also the fan is not on Auto it is usually on setting 8 or 9 for the blowing strength

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

When your machine is set to a chosen fan speed, the thermostat will detect the room temperature and only operate on heat mode if the ambient temperature of the room has not reached the desired temp. For example if you set the temperature to 12 degrees and the room is already at 20 then the fan heater will not operate. If the room is at 20 degrees and you set the temperature to 25 then the fan will kick in and remain on until this temperature has been reached.

When in Auto mode and a temperature is selected, the machine will automatically adjust the air speed, if it is diffused or not, as well as the heating based on the air quality in the room and the temperature.

We hope this helps, however our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] if we can assist further.

Hi, I’ve got a Dyson Pure Cool, showing very inaccurate readings of the external PMI. Should I be concerned about the accuracy of readings for the indoor PMI then? Does having the fan blowing purifies a room quicker than if the fan was not on? Also, what is the recommend room size for purification? Thank you

From reading reviews and responses from Dyson I believe they use an “external provider” rather than Australian Government sources for external air quality readings (not the machine itself). However I’ve no reason to believe the internal air quality readings - which come from a sensor in the machine - would be inaccurate. You may notice if you set your location on the app and turn off your machine you’ll continue to get an external air quality value - this is because it comes from the app.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

We are aware that some readings aren't quite right and have worked with our third party supplier to rectify this.

Dyson use our Air Multiplier technology to project purified air around the room quickly and effectively. A Dyson Purifier will work in any room in your home, larger rooms will just take more time to clear.

Should your readings from your app still not be quite right, or you have any further queries, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to help.

I spent $800 for a Dyson pure cool tower only a week ago, due to the poor air quality in Melbourne and being an asthmatic. We can make no sense of the readings. Often my room is worse than outside. Surely if there is bad pollution outside that is the point if the purifier- does it only work when outside is actually pretty good anyway? This would be a waste of money if that’s the case.
We phoned a few days ago and the person in customer service just said the app is not working properly due to the bushfires and they have to fix it... that sounds a bit dodgy to me. She told us to email a different email than you have mentioned- [email protected] and we sent screen shots and everything and have heard nothing. I don’t want to ring the customer service back because they seemed to have not much of an idea. I am wondering if I should get my money back and look for another brand. Apart from a day where the epa said the air was good and Dyson said it was good it has never been in the green. Thanks

My Dyson app is saying my filter has 90% life but still getting the humming noise no stop when monitoring is on. Is there something else I can do?

1 answer
Dyson

To continually graph the air for the Dyson Link App the machine will run at a very low setting to pass air over the sensor. You can turn this feature, 'Continous Monitoring', off in the settings menu of your Dyson Link App however when the machine is off it will no longer monitor and graph air quality when not turned on.

Would like to know how adjustable the oscillation is. As I look at the fan with its display centred, it rotates to my left, returns to centre but won't go to my right. The coverage is very limited! Is a manual adjustment possible - crunch, grind, crunch! The Dyson supplied info only refers to the function button on the remote and app. Cheers

Try the diffused mode, it gave me more coverage .

Dyson

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link will oscillate 70 degrees, 35 degrees each side from centre (centre being from the display). We wouldn't recommend manually twisting the machine.

If your machine isn't oscillating through the full 70 degrees or we can assist further, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will only happy to help.

The Dyson Pure range can purify a room of any size given enough time. The rate of purification is 27 minutes to completely purify a room that is 13 metre squared.

If you are in a heavily polluted area (especially Canberra with the smoke), your machine may take some time to clear your room.

Ok cool mode, how to reduce the temp?

To confirm, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool can function as a heater, however doesn't function as an air conditioner as it doesn't work on refrigerants or the like. The "cool" refers to it's ability to function as a fan to cool you in summer using the wind chill effect.

To switch it into fan mode, press the blue button on your remote control and the machine will stop heating and work as a purifier fan.

We hope this helps, however please feel free to email [email protected] if we can assist further. We are happy to help.

ok so that was a waste. turning that off and putting the normal fan on. Then you need to put in the book, that you can't cool despite being able to put the temperature lower than the ambient temperature..

We do apologise for any disappointment, To confirm, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool can function as a heater, however doesn't function as an air conditioner to cool the room. Hi,

I have two of these fans and even have the V8 vacuum. One nickel and the other blue. Bought about a year apart. Happy with the quality and style of Dyson in general so far....

The nickel one (the older of the two) connected to the App without issue, and has been a joy to use and monitor with. The blue one - no matter how many times I've tried using Dyson tips and emailed instructions i.e. changing wi-fi passwords/getting the router closer/reseting etc. etc. over 8/9 months, regardless it just never finishes the damn connection. It's been super annoying from a control perspective and being able to check and set the air quality for example, but the most annoying is that there seems just no other way I can SET the highest air quality target as per the nickel model without having to use the app. You would think Dyson'd have factored in backup functions via at least the remote in this case.

Any help would be great. I also thought with the number of app updates that have happened, that this would resolved the issue by adjusting the app or using it to update the firmware on the blue unit so it works correctly.

Will it be useful if I put in the living room? Will it work to clean air from allergens like bird feathers?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Dyson Purifiers can capture gasses and 99.95% of fine particles such as allergens and pollutants. While airbourne allergens can be captured, larger airbourne debris such as bird feathers are likely to settle to the floor and can be cleaned up using a household vacuum cleaner.

Our Purifiers will work well in any room of your home, however not recommended for wet areas (such as the bathroom), and we suggest to put them where you spend the most of your time.
