4 & 1/2 stars. Solid machine.
I was sent this unit as part of the Ambassador program.
I currently own a really great robot vacuum (Xiaomi Roborock) but anyone with a robot vacuum knows that it doesn't get to everywhere in the house and doesn't deep clean carpets with the same power as a barrel vacuum. I had a Wertheim barrel vac that served me well for years but it died last year and I hadn't replaced it.
Perfect time to try out a Dyson as I'd had friends rave about the brand.
Unpacking the unit I was impressed to see no polystyrene and everything neatly packed in recyclabl...Read more

Amazing. Best Vacuum we have had.
We are very happy with this Dyson vacuum, even our teenage kids want to use it... so that's a win!!! We are amazed how much dirt and dust keeps coming out of the carpet.
Pros:
- Well built, quality construction.
- Comes with loads of attachments. The small power head is very powerful if you need to vacuum narrow areas like stairs.
- The articulating head on the different power heads are awesome, you can angle the vacuum at any angle you like along walls and along furniture. You can get down almost flat under beds and tables - better than...Read more

Absolutely love this vacuum!
I purchased this vacuum to replace my old barrel vacuum and also my stick vacuum after both stopped working properly. The price was steep but It is worth ever cent, especially since it replaces a barrel vacuum. It is a heavy vacuum compared to other stick vacuums but it’s not awkward to use, even with the weightiness of it I still found it easy to use and move around my floor, it glides really easily, no more banging my barrel vacuum into the skirting boards and this vacuum has any unbelievable amount of suction power on both hardfloors and car...Read more
pet/rugs. My house is fully tiled, with rugs and the amount of dust it picked up on the first use was Quite amazing considering I vacuum and use a steam mop every day. I love it goes from hardfloors to carpets/rugs without having to press anything on the head. I think the Dyson v11 outsize will actually make cleaning the floors a easy task but most importantly it makes vacuuming actually enjoyable. An absolute winner!Purchased in March 2021 at Harvey Norman Online for $1,200.00.

You get what you pay for
I have always held a healthy scepticism for heavily promoted brands, on the basis that while this implies a lot of money is spent on advertising and self-promotion it by no means guarantees the product itself is any better than its competition.
With that in mind, if pushed to name the best vacuum cleaner, many people would answer "Dyson" without necessarily ever having owned one. So when Product Review sent me the Dyson V11 and asked me to review it was keen to see if these opinions were justified.
It is often the case with consumer review...Read more
s, including some of my own, that the author has a limited range of experience of other products for comparison. In my case I have owned 5 vacuum cleaners, only two of which are worthy of mention, the Miele Cat and Dog and an Aldi stick vacuum. The former is my current cleaner and Im very happy with it, notably at around half the price of the Dyson V11. The Aldi stick vacuum was about one tenth of the price. More on that later. I've always been of the opinion that a battery powered vacuum could never equal a well designed mains powered one, no matter how good the manufacturer, simply because of the current limitations of batteries. A mains source can provided around 2KW of power indefinitely. Even a car battery (which would be impractical obviously) can only provide and sustain a fraction of that power. The Aldi stick vacuum merely reinforced my opinion. So I was interested to try out a top of the range battery powered vacuum cleaner. It's still hard, if not impossible, to devise a subjective test for measuring the performance of a vacuum cleaner. However organisations such as Choice do have access to a range of comparable products and use more objective tests for evaluation. Taking from one of their tests, I have always run the Miele at least 4 passes (or 8 one way) over each patch of carpet. This also seems, to the eye, to be the about point at which further passes make little difference.Purchased in March 2021.

Best of the best - buy with absolute confidence.
My first impressions of the Dyson V11 Outsize is a brief comparison to the Dyson V7. Surprisingly, I found the trigger ergonomics on the Dyson V7 better than the Dyson V11 Outsize. Reasons being is that the trigger on the Dyson V11 Outsize has too much curve on it so feel was not as "natural" and as comfortable as the V7. Given the cost of the Dyson V11 Outsize, just one small miserly sticker entitled "What you need to know" on the waste canister, is disappointing. The Dyson V7 comes with a detailed Operating Manual which describes the setup, f...Read more
eatures and operation in detail by way of colour coded graphics beautifully and professionally set out. In addition, the Dyson V7 had no less than 3 warning stickers in bright yellow / black stripes on it describing basic key-points about the various operation procedures and safety warnings. The Dyson V11 Outsize A4 2-page "Important safety instructions" and "warnings" leaflet on its own is indicative that a hard copy Operation Manual should have been included. Albeit the online information is comprehensively informative and the pdf Operation Manual is brilliant, not everybody has instant access to a computer / printer. However... Dyson engineers have put a lot of effort into the new Dyson V11 Outsize vacuum cleaner - and it shows. There are no short cuts in any respect and not only does this vacuum cleaner do an excellent job, it is a full-house item requiring very few, if any optional extras. My premises comprise of a variety of tile types and sizes throughout with carpets in all bedrooms and family room. The Dyson V11 Outsize adjusts to the varying floor surfaces with uncanny accuracy and never misses a beat. So the Optimised 3-mode cleaning feature is no gimmick - it works. The run time of this vacuum cleaner is phenomenal so only the very largest of premises might require the optional extra battery pack. The power management system, ensures one will easily achieve the one hour run time Dyson claims - and more. The weight is not a problem as implied by some so-called professional reviewers. To the contrary, the added weight is proportionate to the power output adding stability, and ease of control. The reputable Dyson twist-to-turn direction characteristic means that unlike the old corded wide-track monsters, the Dyson V11 Outsize is exceptionally easy to use. The suction power is outstanding and one can visibly see the where the carpet pile was lifted upwards and cleaned after in just one stroke - and the very first vacuum cleaner I have used that cleans carpets thoroughly. The added power of the Dyson V11 Outsize all but eliminates that constant, push-pull momentum one has to do to achieve the same result. In short, the efficiency of the Dyson V11 Outsize is so good, it will clean the average home in a lot less time than most if not all other vacuum cleaners - period. It is also very easy to discharge the waste bin and clean. The detachable battery is a great feature as if anything is going to fail without warning or prematurely, it's the battery. So if ever there is a problem, it is now very easy to eliminate the battery as a possible cause without having to send to a Dyson support centre. For me, a really good feature is the drop-in dock which allows for mounting and storage in confined spaces . The build quality is outstanding so although the initial outlay may appear prohibitive for some budgets, it is a once-off, one stop shop item. I predict this is one vacuum cleaner that with proper care, will last for years, trouble free. In my opinion, the Dyson V11 Outsize the best of the best, backed by a reputable company that offers excellent service. The 5-Star rating was easy to award as one can buy with absolute confidence.Purchased in March 2021.

V11 Oustsize Dyson's Mega Cordless stick! But is it the best all-rounder?
I’ve purchased many brands of Corded Vacuum and Hand held/Dust Buster cleaners in the past 35 years.. My experience is that Dyson by far is the best brand for longevity and performance, still owning my corded Dyson some 15 years on, flogging it in my previous large home, so followed up with a Dyson DC59 stick as a Dust Buster, but found it was so good I started to use it as a regular house Vacuum Cleaner, using it now in my average sized home nearly 3 years. After 5 years the battery started to die after a few minutes use, another battery ...Read more
purchased from Dyson has is still running perfectly, into year 6. We have almost finished building a rather large house, and with a lot of build dust happening for a long time, I had been looking into the purchase of a more heavy duty stick with more power and longer battery life for our next house, not wanting to go back to using a corded cleaner. As my current stick does a great job, I thought a newer model would surpass it. It was very timely that I was asked to trial and review the Dyson V11 Outsize, by ieatwords.com. This is an unpaid review. For anyone currently with a Dyson Stick and wondering if the time has come, and if it is worth the money to upgrade, I hope my honest review and insight comparing the old to new can add extra perspective from a household review point. For first time buyers considering a Dyson, my operation and performance review will hopefully assist you too. I am not measuring sound or throwing anything onto a floor to test. But, speaking of sound, there is some good news!! This Dyson has been trialled at my current 28 square metre home. Our household flooring, consists of matt tiles to Living areas, Master Bed and Hallways, 3m x 4m metre rugs, charcoal carpet in media room, office, theatre room and 3 x minor bedrooms. Residing is two adults and a very special hairy Border Collie Fur Child, who sheds a lot of long fur year round, along with my long hair, also adding to the shedding problem onto floors.Similar opinion? My oversized expectations were met with the Outsized Dyson
We've been Dyson owners for quite some time, V6 Animal handhelds though, not the full kit like this one. We love the handhelds but wanted to see some change as there are things which can't be accomplished with them or were undesirable. So our oversize expectations and results were :
1. Less noise! On full squeal the handhelds are painful to everyone around
Oh the beauty of it. It's much less noisy then the handhelds even on MAX.
2. Less dusty cleaning. Whilst the open bottom is simple, you still hold the handheld above the bin and wh...Read more
en there's stuck stuff, the awkward latch becomes annoying to remove the barrel, clean it out and replace it. The cleaning process is fantastic, whole barrel slides down and INTO the bin! We didn't feel like we were having to hold our breath as all the dust started swirling. Also, with the handhelds the filter was prone to fall out on the floor (or your face) when you were holding it up over your head. Can't happen on the Outsize.Purchased in March 2021.

Fabulous vacuum cleaner for the strong
Overall I am impressed with this effective cordless vacuum cleaner. It is excellent at cleaning carpets.
The V11 Oversize arrived well packed in bits of shaped cardboard; all of which are easy to compost. No plastics or foams. The vacuum is bigger and heavier than I am used to. I am short. When the vacuum was assembled, it came up to my sternal notch. I lay it across a carver chair for easy access to change parts. The Dyson V11 Oversize did not come with an instruction manual in the box, so one has to look on-line to understand how to use it. T...Read more

Makes vacuuming fun?! Believe it!
The Dyson v11 Outsize cordless vacuum cleaner actually makes vacuuming fun. We’re inventing excuses to use it. My wife calls it her ‘toy’: “I love it!” she exclaims as she happily walks the Dyson around the house, and I have certainly had occasion to excitedly go get the device to clean up lawn clippings I've dragged in, or those annoying little spiders in the cornices around the house too. Quite clearly, this vacuum cleaner is doing a marvellous job of just inspiring us to clean. It’s just so convenient, effective and easy to use.
The fun sta...Read more
rts with the fact that its hanging on the supplied wall mount where its battery is constantly topped-up and remains fully-charged, which means it's ready for duty in an instant, without any hassle at all. That may not sound like a big deal, but just the fact that it’s no drama to get to work with it represents a quantum leap in convenience over traditional vacuum cleaners. Incidentally, it is mounted in our garage, screwed securely into a wall stud just near the internal access door where it is out of sight (even if it is a rather attractive-looking device) but close by. Once in use, this Dyson is much quieter than any vacuum cleaner we’ve ever used and importantly, it doesn’t stink either. Our conventional, bagged vacuum cleaners' expelled air always smelled offensive, with an odd, slightly cheesy smell. Happily, that is completely absent with the bagless Dyson thanks to its very effective air filtration system. Of course, the cordless design of the v11 Outsize is its main attribute. As we all know too well, a drudging chore with conventional vacuuming is dragging out and connecting the cord and then an extension cord and then managing the lot whilst navigating the house. No such drama now! Cordless is convenient, but used to come at the cost of extra weight and a lack of suction- and staying-power; weaknesses that Dyson have successfully addressed with this product. The Dyson v11 Outsize incorporates some clever power-saving features that enable us to vacuum our entire four-bedroom house with a single, full charge. One can hear it doing clever things as it adjusts between its three power-modes on the fly, when set to ‘auto’. On tiled areas it cruises in ‘eco’ mode; then ramps up the power when one moves onto carpet, where it has to work harder. It goes flat-out in ’burst’ mode on rugs. One can also manually select a power mode if desired. I haven’t timed it but recharge from empty seems to take about three hours or so. At first we wondered why there isn’t a trigger lock to ease the constant actuation required with the trigger finger, but it seems this too is a means to minimise battery power wastage. There’s a big LED readout on the back, facing the user, that indicates how much battery power is remaining so that one can time bigger jobs down to the minute. The readout changes colour as the battery drains and the cleaner even pulses thrice with about three minutes of power left, to give the user haptic notification that the charge is getting low. The unit is not quite as light as one might dare to hope but it is remarkably light for a solid, well-made, cordless, upright design that carries all its main components ‘up top.’ Of course, once in motion, most of the weight is transferred to the floor, though we wondered whether a removable, adjustable outboard handle (like one might see on a bigger electric drill) wouldn’t help users to stabilise the machine and provide more natural, double-handed leverage when in operation. Happily, without cabling issues to deal with, our entire house can be vacuumed in around half the time it used to take with a corded cleaner, which significantly minimises the effort involved in using the machine. The three-axis head on the main brushes, in two sizes, makes accessing corners and difficult areas much easier and more effective than ever, further speeding the work. A selection of seven heads is included with this Dyson for cleaning everything from large areas to fabric surfaces and skirting boards, as well as reaching difficult nooks and crannies. With so much thought gone into the packaging of this device (the unboxing of which is quite special; akin to the Apple experience), I wonder if the Dyson people could do just a little more thinking to incorporate a storage-box solution for all the heads in the packaging? No matter, I just found a small cardboard box for all the fitments and left it under the wall-mounting. Having used a leading conventional vacuum cleaner for years, which hasn’t seen the light of day since we received the Dyson, we can confirm that the v11 Outsize is a powerful cleaner, sucking up one and a half loads of dirt into its near-two litre bagless receptacle from floors that were vacuumed only a week earlier. Emptying the collected rubbish is an easy, one-touch affair, though some fluff can get caught up in the top of the receptacle after a big job, when a little manual persuasion easily gets the job done. In summary, the Dyson v11 Outsize cordless vacuum cleaner takes much of the drudgery out of vacuuming, most notably by ridding the task of cable-management difficulties and smelliness, as well as most of the dirtiness and noise. The appliance looks attractive but more importantly, it is the state-of-the-art in modern, cordless, household vacuum cleaning technology, to deliver not only an effective and powerful cleaner, but one that is actually FUN to use. And THAT is a truly outstanding achievement! Five stars!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Dyson V11 Outsize - “ The Heavy Lifter “
So you’re considering to purchase one of the most expensive stick vacuums on the market but is it worth the money?
The moment you unpack the tools and lift the vacuum out of the box, you will realise two things. Muscles in your forearm that you never thought you had and that you have purchased a product that feels solid.
While rebuilding a 45 sqm home, we decided to install a ducted vacuum system purely because of the size of the house. Our long-lived Dyson barrel vacuum got placed into storage and has never seen the light of day. The...Read more
ultimate reason is wanting portability of only having to take a hose up and down the stairs and keep the dust, dirt and noise outside. Like most males, no instructions, I just wanted to snap it all together and clean the house from top to bottom. Clicked the battery in and up came the digital display showing 35% battery remaining. Not an issue, I plugged the charger in and searched for the manual to read over the tools Dyson provide you with. I am glad to see a company finally doing away with a paper manual in 20 languages but instead a link to an online manual. Scanned the QR code via my iPad camera and up came the Dyson V11. They provide you with everything you need to know how to use it, videos, and a downloadable manual so there is no need for me to explain how to use the vacuum in this review. Having fun yet? No? Battery now at 37%. Battery vs Performance: You are presented with information to 'fully recharge your battery' before using it but for how long? Dyson specifies the battery will last around 60mins based on how you use it, but they don't inadvertently tell you how long it takes to charge. In the 'Getting Started video' it reveals the demonstrator's vacuum with a 20% charge and 2hrs later it appears to be fully charged. Unfortunately, it takes almost 4.5hrs to fully recharge a flat battery so consider this based on how you clean. You might now be thinking, (I'll just buy another battery) but you may want to reconsider. The cost of a replacement/additional battery is around $199 but how do you charge it with only one charger? It takes 4.5hrs to charge with a 1hr operating time which means you cant charge a secondary battery before your main battery runs flat so you'll need another charger also.Similar opinion? Good for small jobs, not a big clean
I was sent this product by ieatwords.com.au to test and write a review on it. The only Dyson experience I have previously had is for one of the little hand held Dyson’s that’s good for quick small vacuuming jobs.
With the Dyson V11 Outsize, I was surprised at how big the box was, and how many attachments there are. However, I was disappointed that there wasn’t any real instructions with it, other than two pages of safety information, an extra document with instructions on how to install the holder, and another document with information ab...Read more
out the battery. There were no instructions for all the various attachments and what they are used for. I haven't used all the attachments as yet as I haven't found a need for all of them. There is an attachment which is good for tiled areas and wooden floorboards, however, I found the attachment wobbles a lot and is quite hard to get used to using (after having used a 'normal' vacuum cleaner). The wobble factor is built in by design but I just found it distracting as the thing moved of it's own volition and wasn't going where I was trying to push it. When it came to carpeted areas, wow, you get a really good core body workout, as it is very difficult to push this vacuum on longer pile carpet. In fact, when my partner used it, he didn't bother trying to 'push' it on the longer pile carpet, he just 'pulled' it towards himself. We live in a very small cottage, and have two dogs with very long feathered fur. I didn't try to vacuum the entire house in one go as I found that holding the Dyson with the trigger on to power it, exacerbated an elbow injury that I have (tennis elbow). I also don't think the battery would have lasted trying to vacuum the entire house, as we have a number of different surfaces, and the battery indicator kept chopping and changing for how much battery time it had left, depending on where I was using the vacuum. On carpet and the rugs, etc it kicked into higher mode to try to suck up as much stuff as possible, which meant the time left on the battery dropped significantly. In the one room that has much longer pile carpet, it was very hard to use. I don't think the battery lasted for longer than 30 minutes at any one time when I was using it, before the warning light went to red and said it needed to be plugged in (at least, that's what I was assuming it meant, as I didn't get instructions). I also wasn't sure if I should keep using it until the battery went completely dead, or if I needed to plug it in to recharge as soon as the red warning light came on.Purchased in March 2021.

A complete package! Does what it should and More!!!
I was given my Dyson V11 Outsize to review as part of the Product Review’s Ambassador’s Program approximately a month ago from writing this and have been using it as my regular vacuum cleaner since then.
First of all let me say that I have always been sceptical about Dyson products. I know that a lot of people swear by them, but they’ve always seemed overpriced or over engineered in my opinion. So when I received my V11 Outsize to review, I thought that I’d really be able to see if my thoughts on their products were justified or not.

ning the box and taking everything out, I must say that I was a little surprised at just how many accessories came with the vacuum cleaner (see photo 1). I expected a power head, but this came with one for hard floors (a) and carpets (b) as well as a ‘mini’ one (c) to get into small nooks and crannies. It also came with a number of other attachments which included a couple with brushes (d) and one with really stiff bristles to help ‘scrape’ dirt away (e) as well and the standard long narrow tube to really get into crevices etc (f). It also comes with a small clear attachment (g) which goes onto the main tube for holding two of the other attachments (I assume the ones you would use the most). Once the battery was fully charged, I decided to give it a test on the lounge room (the only room in the house with carpet). The V11 has three power modes you can use; Eco, Medium and boost (although the manual states Eco, Auto and Boost). The manual states that ‘Auto’ (Medium?) will automatically adjust the amount of power/suction required based on what surface it is on and depending on how much cleaning is required. For the lounge, I set it on Medium. Within seconds it was obvious that the V11 was really picking up a lot of dust/dirt/hair (we have 2 dogs and 2 cats). In fact the carpet power-head (‘a’ in photo 1) was picking a heck of a lot more dust/dirt/hair than (what I always thought was a very superior vacuum) our Wertheim 6030 (even with its very own motorized power head). Photo 2 shows the amount of dirt/dust/hair it sucked up. The lounge had been vacuumed exactly 3 days before trialing the V11. To say I was impressed is an understatement. I was more surprised by the amount of dust/dirt it collected especially considering just how recently it had been vacuumed.Purchased in March 2021.

It's a great product, but some things have to be said so read to the end.
I was given the opportunity to test the Dyson V11 Outsize, and I was very excited to try it out.
Here are my thoughts, on the good and the small things that can be upsetting.
First I want to applause Dyson for the way they package the vacuum. It all comes well packed in cardboard and it's all recyclable! Thanks for that Dyson, it may be a small thing but a lot of products still come packed with polystyrene and tone of plastics. This means that the packaging will be easy to dispose of, because it's a big box.

Disappointed with the results. I will need to own two vacuums!

It will be used for our carpets for deep cleans but I will need a second vacuum for anything above floor level. Dear Reader; I will declare that I did not purchase this vacuum cleaner. It was sent to me by Product Review to use, test and review. This is not my first Dyson. I purchased a Dyson V8 Absolute Plus back in 2018, and I sent it back under the satisfaction guarantee. You can read that review here.

y helpful in this regard, watch in reverse!). The manual was scant, but perfect for me, (No big manual in my box) but please pay attention to the instructions stuck to the unit for emptying the dust bin etc. It's all simple, logical, the unit will tell you when you wash the hepa filter, move on. They really managed to pack a lot into the box with this Outsize version of the 11. The first thing that stands out is the size of the motor unit, especially the dust bin. Way bigger the older style machines, ie v6 and v8 and 50% bigger than the V10 and base model v11. This is a good thing. The main torque drive vacuum head is also 25% bigger. Finally making it the same size as most corded and ducted vacuum cleaner heads, with the added benefit of motorhead, (a motorised rotating brush that is key to the Dysons ability to pick up dust, dirt and especially hair from floors and carpet). The other sensation is of quality. Every part feels solid, well-engineered and very well made. There are very few cordless vacuum cleaners that you can say that about. Note: A majority of my house is tiled, main lounge is floorboards, 4 carpeted double bedrooms, and one big 3.6m x 2m long pile rug makes it 2/3rd’s hard floors and 1/3rd carpet.Purchased in March 2021.

Awesome Vacuum - Leaves others in their dust.
We have had the Dyson V11 Outsize for a few weeks now and we love it to bits, like with all things Dyson it has several features that make you wonder “why no one else came up with this before”. Our previous Dyson (DC29) vacuum cleaner was the first bag less vacuum cleaner we had and while it was handy it didn’t need those bags, that wasn’t the main draw card for us. The vacuum just seemed to work really well, had all sorts of gimmicks / smarts (like the plastic stick that is very light, brackets to clip the attachments to the vacuum, all these ...Read more
tools that relied on push buttons rather than friction to connect to the vacuum and a trigger to release the suction when it sucks up your carpet to name a few) that made it soo much easier and more pleasant to use than vacuums of other brands. THE GOOD The V11 Outsize does the exact same and (a lot) more, the vacuum has a lot of features that no-one seems to have thought about (I’ll get to that later) but the thing I like most is the fact it’s cordless and it’s light. After the first time you use a cordless vacuum you really wonder why anyone still bothers buying a corded vacuum. No-more leads to get caught up in, that won’t fully retract, that get caught behind the door or something else it removes the single most annoying thing (by a mile) of vacuuming. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the suction is less with a cordless vacuum, this vacuum is very powerful and I’m confident it’s more powerful than our Dyson DC29 or any other vacuum we’ve ever have had. The battery is automatically charged when the vacuum is stored in its standard dock and the battery usage can be varied with selecting one of the three modes (“Normal”, “Eco” and properly ballistic or “Boost’ in Dyson speak) to save the battery or increase the suction should you feel the need. The modes have a very significant impact on how long the battery will last, to provide an example: when using the floor tool on our bedroom carpet in “Eco” mode the vacuum indicates it will last about 65 minutes, in “Normal” mode, it will last about 25 and in “Boost” mode it will last just under 9 minutes. The duration varies greatly depending on what tool is used and on what surfaces it is used, and the vacuum calculates the amount of time left constantly and shows in on the display (again, handy!). While 9 minutes in “Boost” mode may not seem like a lot, my car carpets that endured 6 odd weeks of kids and my regular trips to and on construction sites without a vacuum clean were like new in about 10 seconds, it is powerful. The battery can also be removed (in a similar fashion as to how batteries from power tools are removed) so should you empty a battery during the Monday-morning clean you could get an additional battery and keep going.Purchased in March 2021.

Best Vacuum I have ever used
Okay, so to be up front from the start; I will declare that I did not purchase this vacuum cleaner. It was sent to me by Product Review to use, test and review. Who said, “There’s no such thing as Santa”? Secondly, I/we have owned a number of Dyson Vacuum cleaners over a period in excess of twenty years (in fact we currently own two, I will mention these later) and I am already a big fan of their vacuums. Having said that, I would like the reader to keep in mind that this definitely does not mean this will be a biased, nor frivolous review. ...Read more
In fact Dyson - to my mind - will have a very high standard to maintain with this particular product and I will be assessing it to that high standard. Whilst my opinion may be for sale, my personal integrity is not. Finally, and I am sure this will rapidly expose itself; I am not a professional reviewer, please excuse my haphazard and probably amateur approach. Warning: With hindsight, this review it too long. But. I don’t know which bits to chop out, so please refer to headings for particular bits you are interested in what I have to say. Or, grab a cuppa or a beer and read on . - - - PACKAGING The boxed vacuum was delivered via courier to my front door inside another unmarked shipping box. Prior to opening any packaging, I noticed that one end of the exterior box was rather badly dented and crushed in. Unfortunately, I have personally found this is not an unusual condition for deliveries. So, with some trepidation I opened it up to find that everything was undamaged. The contents (numerous bits and pieces) were all individually packaged in heavy duty, made to fit, designer cardboard wrappings. There are some very clever puzzle designers out there. There was no plastic wrapping used in the packaging at all and no poly-styrene foam, yay! So, it was a simple matter of un-folding and separating the pieces of designer cardboard and placing the entire packaging in the re-cycling bin. First plus! INITIAL IMPRESSION It’s a flash one a, and pretty colours. I picked up the main motor and dust bin section and . Wow, it’s heavy, well compared to our existing stick vacuum - Dyson V6 Animal - and by a long way. And it’s big, really big, should be called V11 Hulk (trademarks permitting). I pulled the trigger and an LCD screen on the rear of the motor unit told me “charge prior to use”. So, with the battery indicator telling me it was at 35% I plugged it into a power point. TO DO’S AND NOT TO DO’S Now was an opportunistic time to do something I usually never do - read instructions! Well, I am a male and normally strictly comply with the old adage, “When all else fails, read the instructions”. But best I do the right thing this time, as if I am to do a complete review I should also review the instructions - right? There’s a big instruction book and get this; it’s written in Australian, Canadian and United Statesian! Yep seperate page for each. Made me smile, does someone at Dyson have a sense of humour? I have been to the USA & Canada and I know we have a few words with different meanings, but, different languages? And none of the Australian instructions were in ‘rhyming slang’ the writer let a good opportunity pass there :) Anyway it was pretty much all the W.H & S stuff. Did you know it’s not for use under water? Well you do now. There is another instruction sheet setting out how to wall mount the charger unit. And one that all us males like, it’s a “What you need to know’ booklet of four simple user settings - relating to suction power and battery consumption. Less than a minutes reading involved, loved it. The fifth step refers you to the Dyson web site to, “Discover your machines features and watch helpful video guides and activate your two year warranty”. Whilst on the subject of warranty; I have previously discovered that Dysons warranty service is second to none and to use that over used management proverb - that is rarely true, they do, in fact, provide, “Better than expected customer service”. Having said that, let’s hope you never need to find out. So, back stepping a little. Referring purchasers to go online that is. There are still people out there whom do not own a computer nor a smart phone, yes it’s true. I actually know a couple of them and no they are not that old. Well, they are around my age, so I don’t think they are, ‘that old”! My grand kids would disagree. So, anyway, I did, go online that is. Basic instructions are provided along with several information videos, these were worth watching even if you, like myself, already own and use one of these vacuums. Why? Because some things are different. Easier in fact, like the brush head removal. No tool required now, just need to flip a small lever. There was information on blockage identification and clearing, also warranty registration is on the link. Little note here: you will need the products serial number to register your warranty and that is on the box that you just threw in the bin! But wait, it can also be found on a sticker under the handle - after removing the battery. Oh, and the writing is so small you will never be able to read it! Even with your glasses on. Solution? Use your phone to take a photo of the label and then enlarge the photo, wallah! Good tip to see/read lots of things. The web site also describes the uses for the numerous tools you get with the machine, there are eight of them, they are - (1) High torque XL cleaner head. (2) Fluffy cleaner head. (3) Mini motorised tool. (4) Crevice tool. (5) Flexi crevice tool. (6) Combination tool. (7) Soft dusting brush. (8) Stubborn dirt brush. I won’t go into suggested usage here, as I can already sense this review turning into a novel. Suffice to say, “Use where you think appropriate”. It also mentions a ‘flexi hose’, I didn’t get one in the box? So I am assuming it is an optional extra? There is also a clear plastic clip/cradle thingy which I had to look up on the Dyson web site under accessories. It is a holder for the Crevice tool and Multi tool which you can attach to the main tube so as to have these accessories readily on hand. Mmm, first thought was it’s already heavy enough without adding extra weight. However, if the vacuum was to be used in a commercial environment e.g motel and you are vacuuming rooms some distance from the storage station, then it’s is a great idea! So you decide. Whilst on the subject of commercial use, the battery is easily removed by depressing a small latch at its front, no tools required. So if you need to, you can purchase additional battery(’s) for prolonged use. Second plus.Purchased in March 2021.
