Wouldn’t recommend

published

Bought this vacuum and it worked well at first. Has decent enough suction for our hard wood floors. But the motorhead end has died twice now, the first time we bought another head to replace the one that stopped working. This time I won’t bother. I shouldn’t have to fork out $150 on a new motorhead, on an already expensive vacuum, every 12-24 months.

Handy little vacuum

published

I love this stick vacuum. It's light and easy to grab at anytime to do a quick tidy. If you're like me and a bit of a clean freak, you'll find yourself using it several times a day. Great for tidying dog hair off your white tiles! If I was to fault it, I would say it's not so great at picking up larger bits of mess, eg. When your child drops rice cake crumbs all over the hard wood floors. I keep my larger Dyson vacuum around for deep cleans.

Dyson animal is plastic crap

The clip on the end of the stick fell off. The head pieces fell off. The motor cuts in and out. It is a cheap worthless piece of crap ( Animal v6 )
Don’t touch them with a 20 foot stick !

Great when new

published

By far the best vacuum cleaner I had ever used, when new, until it stopped working about a month later for no reason. It would just stop working while in use. The charger would still charge the battery. Like most warranties these days, the warranty was of course useless. Assuming I bought a lemon, I bought another one of the same model, to have it stop working again about 2 months later. So I then went to Kmart about bought a $40 vacuum cleaner and I've been using the same one for 2 years, even though it's suction isn't that great compared to the Dyson, it didn't cark it. After pulling both Dysons apart and meddling with the components and swapping them around, I managed to get one working, for another few weeks..

We are sorry to hear this, we wouldn't expect any Dyson machine to experience routine blockages.

If you haven't done so already, we would encourage getting in touch with our Dyson Experts via [email protected]. We are only happy to help.

poor battery

published

Poor battery performance. Got it to use for the car and the house. Battery doesn't last long enough to do the house and now struggles to make the distance with the car. The fact that a car kit will cost you over $100 is also ridiculous. Regretting this purchase.

Overall a very convenient vaccuum

published

After switching to a cordless vacuum, I don't think I could ever go back to a corded vacuum. The convenience of no cord is just too good!

Overall this is a very good vacuum for wood floors and carpet. The batteries usually last just long enough to quickly go over the whole house, but if you're being really thorough they tend to run out after roughly a little under 30 mins depending on how much you use the max setting--Not an issue for us, because who wants to vacuum for longer than 30 mins?

The only major pain with this vacuum for us is that it doesn't work all that great when it doesn't get proper airflow on rugs and will barely work, sometimes at all depending on the type of rug.

Love my dyson

published

This is perfect for my unit. It makes vacuuming really easy and has great suction. I used to have a large corded Dyson which worked great. However, being a unit I needed something that was smaller and easier to manoeuvre around small areas and this works perfectly.

Great for small apartments

published

Great little vacuum cleaner. I can clean my entire 1 bedroom apartment three times over on a single charge.
It never looses suction even when the battery is about to die.
Its also very useful for vacuuming a car if you don't have access to a power outlet.
In terms of after sales support Dyson is superb. Recently the battery in the vacuum died and with just an email Dyson sent me a new battery which was simple to install. Warranty is 5 years!
This vacuum is not ideal if you live in a bigger house as the battery life is just 20 minutes.

Perfect little dust eliminator

published

These are so handy as I have a small house m I can easily whizz around and get most done on a single charge. I could have spent more and got Thebes latest model as I’ve previously done but this one has been good enough and I’d highly recommend it for anyone thinking of getting one. We also got the full accessory kit thrown in which is handy for cleaning tricky spots like the car and around the base of furniture.

Brought the crap for about $800 .I use it once a week on a small house after 20 minutes of use it dies and now my battery has gone in it after 2 years. I don't use it everyday for the price I'm better of going to get a kmart one they last year's and years....that costs $100 .never buy a dyson don't waste your money. Trust me its not worth the pain and money

Battery and major motor head issues

published

Fairly impressed with the convenience and suction of our stick vac but unfortunately the first battery died in just less than 2 years. Thankfully this was covered under the 2 year warranty. Then at 3 years old the motor head stopped working and after extensive testing via phone support I'm told I have to replace the whole motor head at my cost because the warranty has expired. So $125 later, I'm thinking it's not worth all the money to buy these machines if major parts need replacing after only 3 years!

not worth the money

published

I have used 2 different dyson stick vacuums in my home be a two level house. both have been a total waste of money. Constantly stop working and even after a full clean following instructions will only do one clean and then stop. One of them will not work on the rotating floor head. I do have a corded version and is doing ok. I don't think I would recommend or buy again :-(

The outside of the box needs a warning on it stating that it totally does not work on all carpets.

published

It did not work on my carpet at all - you needed to be a weight lifter or walk backwards for it to work on my carpet. I was told by Dyson that maybe BigW should have warned me and I replied that maybe Dyson should have printed the same warning on the outside lable. No answer for that suggest from Dyson. Because I did not use my v cleaner for a few months after my purchase nobody wanted to know about my problem and had already put the box into the bin. Not a happy customer. I noticed it is discontinued - I wonder why?????

The battery on my Dyson animal was replaced by the Dyson Repair Shop just over 12 months ago - it has been working fine until today. A red LED light flashes when I press the trigger and nothing happens - there is no light at all when on the charger. Do I need to replace the battery again or is this a bigger problem?

If you look at your instruction booklet, (if you do have one) you will see if you have red light or flashing red light, it denotes a fault. You will need to contact your Dyson dealer to have it looked at. Is it still in Warranty date? Is it out of warranty date. Regardless, you need to have it checked. Red light shows it is not charging. It may not be the battery. Take it back to the repair shop. ASAP.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Sorry to hear about this, a flashing red light indicates something not right within a component of the machine.

It is normal for the light on the battery to turn off once the machine is fully charged. That being said, we wouldn't expect it to flash blue when on the charger. Please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to help get this sorted.

Expect the battery to stop charging in less than a year. Mine died, and because the cac was under warranty, they replaced the battery. Within 8 months, the second battery died. Since the vac was no longer under warranty, my only option given was to spend $95 USD for a replacement. Based on my history, I’d have to buy a new battery every year. That’s quite an expensive solution.

Soraya R.
Soraya R.

My Dyson done that. Just replace the battery. you will be covered under warranty just ring dyson. They usually send out a new battery no worries. If they don't the I suggest buying one. Their under $50 for a new battery online.

Do I have leave my v6 charged in all the time if i dont I've heard it could damage the battery?

From what I read in the manual I have the unit shuts off charging automatically once fully charged. So there is no reason to leave it on charge once it's fully charged and turned itself off. I know that over charging causes more issue to the batteries in general.
I turn off my charger once my vacuum is fully charged and it's turned itself off and I have no issues with my unit what so ever.

Thanks for info.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Your Dyson V6 has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge.

It is recommended you leave the machine on charge when not in use, even if you haven't fully used the battery. This will ensure it is always ready for your next cleaning session. The electronics in the machine will ensure the battery charges to 100%, but not over.

We hope this helps, however if you have any further queries, please feel free to reach out to our Dyson Experts via [email protected].
