Good or Bad?
Powerful motor and suction performance on smooth flooring, nimble design, lightweight and easy to use. However, on carpets the brush fails to spin and therefore does not pick up dirt. With poor battery performance, I have to vacuum my small double story down house over two days for a fair clean. Finally, where the power trigger is located, the vacuums motor sits against your finger and quickly heats and burns the skin.

Most awful, aggravating appliance I have ever dealt with
This vacuum is horrible. It pushes the dirt around the floor and is constantly stuck in the pulsating mode. If you view the video they keep posting, even tissue clogs this vacuum. Essentially you cannot vacuum a normal house with animals and kids without pulling everything off the floor out of the stupid thing, and emptying it by hand into the bin from its different parts. Literally cannot even pick up a feather half the time. I may as well sweep as that would be way more efficient - and that is hardwood floors! Don't get me started on carpet. Complete waste of time. Do yourself a favour and buy a kmart or target vacuum rather than this over hyped piece of junk. Cheaper and more effective.

Form over function - poor usability
I bought into the perception that Dyson = Good Design. I shouldn't have. The process for emptying the dust cannister would be comical if it wasn't so frustrating. My wife and I routinely have to use a kitchen knife to scrape out the dust cannister, which typically results in more dust over the floor. I presume the design team would have tested this process, which makes it even more baffling how it ended up in production. Totally unimpressed.

Great product
Excellent product for the price. Great performance and battery life, easy to use and easy to clean. The performance on newer models is obviously stronger but this one is great value and does the job for when you need to clean a quick clean-up in small-medium spaces

I got mine for a great price. Its amazing on carpet and the amount of sucks up is mind boggling. The battery life is short but recharges quickly. I had to replace my battery but under warranty, Dyson sent it quickly and it was covered under the warranty. Easy to install. Not the best on Lino or hardfloors but on carpets, amazing

These are really only a toy.
The Dyson V6 is obviously an early model (I think the company is now up to a V11) and I am comforted by the fact I bought it on special ($400 less than usual price), but despite all the razzmatazz around this brand, be very suspicious of their performance claims. Thank God I never threw out my 25 year old Nilfisk.
Like most of these "stick vacuums, they feel very fragile and are easy to break - all plastic.
My V6 really struggles on carpet and mats. I no longer use it for other than tiled floor debris and spot pick-ups in the home. The battery ...Read more

after two years the head has called it quits
This v6 cordless was bought in April 2017 and in September 2022 (2 years & 5 months) the head has called it quits. we used it on tiles and carpet. I expected that the machine would be more serviceable than that. The cost to replace the head $125.00

Absolutely garbage. I rang Dyson v6
I contacted dyson and told them that after being fully charged that it l only manage to get 6 minutes out of it . Their reply was " yes 6 minutes sounds about right on a fully charged dyson v6. If l had known, I would have not purchased this product. Save your money.

To confirm, your V6 should achieve a run time of 6 minutes on max, or on normal mode, a run time of 16-17 minutes with a motorised floor tool attached, or 20 minutes without.
Standard out of the box... Read more
, your machine will be on Max mode. To change to normal mode for the longer run time, while the machine is running with your finger on the trigger, press and release the "Max" button on the back of the machine. The "Max" button light will turn off and you will hear the machine change tone to indicate it is now running in normal mode.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A very upset customer
I purchased a V6 Stick in 2016 which I thought would be ideal for my new small home. Before the warranty had expired the battery had to be replaced. Now, the machine constantly cuts out and is useless, not good enough for an expensive vacuum cleaner!! So after 3 years I find that I will have to purchase a new vacuum which will certainly NOT be a Dyson, nor would I recommend a Dyson to anyone. Very disappointing.

Not as easy as it makes out to be
Bought this as I was sick of emptying our other vacuum and having all the dust blow all over me. Thought it would be handy as have a newborn baby so easy to move around and looked easier to empty, It would probably be a good vaccum if you didnt have anyone in the house that had hair or a dog, or dust. It constantly just starts pulsating and then stops. I have to empty it, try it again, may work for another few seconds and does the same thing. I spend more time emptying it, trying to figure out if there is a blockage etc than I do actually ...Read more
vacuuming. I dont think there was any part that came with it to get the dust out either so I have resorted to using a chopstick to push it out for this job. Also when you try and use it on slate floors, it takes so long as mainly just spreads the dust around. I wish I never bothered with this vacuum as I am now out of pocket and very bored of this and am about to get the old vaccum back from retirement and about ready to bin this one. Maybe I got a dud. I am not sure.Purchased in February 2021 at Big W for $350.00.

Questions & Answers
Phil Casked
1. How to replace the battery?
2. How do I find the model & serial number on the machine.
3. I have been told this earlier model has only a 2 year life.
Thanks

Thank you for your queries.
You can find a video showing how to remove and replace the battery of your machine here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju0F4HMtysQ
You can find the serial number for your machine on the guarantee form which is on the back page of your User Guide. However, you can also find it on the machine. To locate, push the red release catch and the base of the bin releases. Push it again and with a wiggle you can pull the complete clear bin off the machine. You will find the serial number sticker on the opposite side of the red lever on the machine.
While Dyson engineer our machines and their components to last, the batter is a consumable item which suffer wear and tear through usage coupled with environmental factors such as extreme temperatures, charging habits and the usage of the minimum / maximum power selection. These factors affect the battery longevity which varies amongst users and determining the length of time a power pack should last is not feasible.
