Dont seem to keep a charge. Any help?

Thank you for your question.

If the machine is no longer holding charge there could be a few things causing this.

The machine could be overheating and cutting itself off so the machine is not damaged, we'd recommend washing the filter for your machine per the instructions on https://www.dyson.com.au/SupportHome/Vacuums/Cordless/Dyson-V7/271629-01/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/washing-the-filters.



If this does not resolve the issue the battery could be losing its charge as it is a consumable item which will sometimes need to be replaced during the lifetime of the machine.

We would recommend to contact or helpline on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy or send an email with the serial number through to [email protected].

Dyson animal v7 purchased a month ago. Is there something wrong with it or is the extremely weak suction normal? Slightly better on max power but then only lasts a few minutes. I would like a refund on this machine which won't even pick up a spider. Ros

Some sites say the V7 animal has a hepa filter, and here you are saying it doesn't. Confused?? I would like the hepa filter, can you please advise which model I need. And I have 2 dogs.

Hi Jan my review was for the Dyson V7 Motorhead. The animal is a different model I believe, my son has the animal and yes he said it does have a HEPA filter

Apologies for any confusion Jan. While we don't use HEPA filters in our cord-free machines, all Dyson Cord-free machines use our patented cyclone technology to spin debris (including pet dander, dust, dirt and particles as small as cigarette smoke) out of the air.

While our machines do have filters as a precaution, our machines rely on our patented cyclone technology to provide the high level of filtration.

V7 Motorhead Origin

I purchased a Dyson V7 motorhead original from Aldi. There is no crevice tool. Should there be a crevice tool?

While the V7 Motorhead Origin doesn't include a crevice tool in the box, there is a crevice tool available for purchase seperately ($15 at time of writing) if required.

A $300 list price hand held Dyson vac should have the crevice tool come with the machine. We have had several other hand held Dysons and have bought several more for family gifts and they all had the crevice tool alone with the brush attachment.
It is beneath the reputation of Dyson to now charge for an attachment that should be standard. It is also beneath Dyson to charge $15 plus shipping for a $1 molded plastic tube.

Have purchased Dyson V7 model using only 3 times and have overfilled the barrell and
now unfortunately unable to empty the fluff the red lift up tag is jammed and unable to
lift up

Hello my name is greg.I bought a dyson v7 animal I have used it only 4 times since getting it last. Christmas it no longer works and it has a red light on when pulling the trigger its not flashing just a solid red light...is this a battery problem?thanks for any help

Dyson v7 animal about 4-6 months old battery not charging for more than a minute at a time. Blue light goes on then goes off after a minute. Unplug plug back in blue light goes on for a minute?

What is difference between animal and cord free

I have the Motorhead which I found was lighter, had 2 extra basic attachments and a running time that’s up to 30 mins dependant on ‘conditions’. For a small tiled apartment this is all I really need and it’s brilliant.

The Animal was a bit too too heavy for me only because I’m small, it has extra attachments if you feel you need them, and has a running time of 40 mins dependant on ‘conditions’. There is definitely more suction power and from friends I have heard that this is the one to get if you have pet hair around. Obviously the cost difference is also a consideration which was around $150 difference between models when I was looking.

These two machines have the same internal specifications. The difference is in the colour, and the tools and accessories that come with each machine.

The Dyson V7 Cord-Free™ comes with the Direct drive cleaner head, Combination tool, Crevice tool and Docking station. The Dyson V7 Animal™ comes with the same tools as well as the Mini Motorised Tool to help clean hair from non-leather upholstery and small spaces.

The charger cord for the V7 is approximately 1.8 metres long. That being said, to secure the charger to the wall mount, approximately 45 centimetres of the charger cord is woven through the back of the wall mount.

No, its because they have a major problem with the batteries that so far to date will not do a product recall on them.

I have my Dyson mounted in my garage. For the last few days the blue light has been off and the solid yellow light is displayed, and it has not charge. Could this be due to the temperature in the garage?

Dyson machines are designed to be charged in temperatures between 3°C and 30°C. If outside this range, the machine may not function or charge as expected. In your particular circumstance, it sounds like the battery is either too hot or too cold and, as a safety precaution, it won't charge until it is within the recommended temperatures.

Your Dyson V7 Animal has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge.

We recommend you leave the machine on charge when not in use, this will ensure it is always ready for your next cleaning session. The electronics in the machine will ensure the battery charges to 100%, but not over.

Because of these electronics, it is also perfectly okay to do quick "top-up" charges without the need to exhaust the battery each time before charging.

I go to charge my dyson 7 and it flashes blue until I put the charger back on then when I go use it the light flashes red an d don work.. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it very much!!!!!!!!!!!! The j you god bless!!

I don't know about the red light. It should always be a blue light. When it is fully charged it should show all three bars blue and when you use it the bars light keep moving down until it is needs charging again. When all three bars disappear put it on charger again.

With the battery time being so little and having a big house. Can i actually buy any extra battery and use it with the original battery.?

Thank you for your query.

The battery on the Dyson V7 machine is screwed to the main body, and while it can be removed in the event it needs to be replaced, we don't recommend routinely swapping the batteries out. That being said, this machine will provide a 20-30 minute run time on the high power mode (and 6 minutes on MAX), and charges in just 3.5 hours so the machine can be used multiple times a day.

Our boat house varies in temperature from about 40 to 85 degrees. Is it safe to plug in a V7 with the temp. variations AND if we are not there for possilby 2 months, can the device be left on the charger?

We suggest that Dyson cord-free machines are charged between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius. Outside this, the machine won't perform as expected.

Should the machine not be used for an extended period of time, we would encourage removing it from the charger, and placing back on the charger when you return.
