My Dyson V8 battery only gives me around five minutes fully charged, why ?

The V8 has two modes of suction; Max and high power. With the motorised head attached the machine will provide 25-30 minutes on high power mode. Without using a motorised tool it can run up to 40 minutes on high power mode. On Max mode, the machine will run for 7 minutes regardless of the tool in use.

Can I use a universal charger not the original ? Does it damage the cleaner?

My Dyson V8 stops working on max setting after a few seconds. I have bought and fitted new filters. It will not start again on either setting until I replace it in the charger for 30 seconds. What is the problem and how can it be fixed? Just out of guarantee.

I am in EXACTLY the same position. I would add that after 30 secs on charge it starts again but stops after another few seconds. Being out of guarantee by only a couple of months this is a very troubling issue. This was a not a cheap vacuum to buy.

My Motorhead won’t spin, but the vacuum cleaner still has suctions. There is no blockage. Rather, it feels like the Motorhead is locked in place. What’s the issue?

Brush head will not turn. Unit will turn on as normal
All contacts have been cleaned. Could there be a problem with the direct drive motor?
I removed the brush head and when I turn the unit on, I can see the direct drive motor rotate approx 1/4 turn, then it stops. The unit will still be on. Any help would be appreciated

i have just bought a Dyson V8 Animal Complete works great round flat till i come to bedroom with fluffy carpet, the dyson keeps stopping and will not hoover or move on the carpet. was told when we bought it, that it would hoover any think, any suggestions or should i take back for refund?

This indicates that your machine is sealing too much to your carpet and unable to get sufficient airflow. We would encourage switching from the Max mode to the High Power mode if not already to ensure your machine gets sufficient airflow to clean your carpet.

Hi Patti, as the v8 animal charges the lights turn on from 1 to 2 & then 3 before turning off altogether when the machine is FULLY charged. There is nothing to worry about so long as it is still operating when you try to use it. Tara

I just purchased my Dyson V8. I love it! Question is there an way to turn it off not avoid triggering the power button?

To ensure you get the most out of the battery on your Dyson cord-free machine, Dyson machines use a run-time enhancing trigger so your machine is on when you are actively using it and and off when not.
As such, the machine won't stay on without the trigger being held. Apologies for any disappointment.

We do apologise for any disappointment, however to provide great performance across both carpets and hard floors, the brushbar is designed toi be used while spinning and can't be turned off.

My dyson v8 is just out of warranty and I have started to have a problem with it in max suction. On normal suction it is absolutely fine, but if I switch to Max the machine works for about 10 seconds and then the whole machine cuts off (no lights etc) even when it is on full charge. If I then put it back in the charger (for less than a second) it restarts up and its battery lights can now be seen and the machine will work on normal suction again. I have cleaned the filter and it still does the same thing.
I do not get any red lights and it does not pulse at any time.
I called dyson customer care and they thought I should change the filter but that doesn't make much sense to me.
Any ideas on what is going on?

No sorry but I would contact Dyson again and address your concerns with them because they are amazing and have always fixed my problems
