Terrible customer service
Staff named [name removed] was terrible, had a tyre burst, they explained abt 27$ a day for insurance but didnt talk about 5$ extra per day for tyres .. when we were trying to say that.. she asked us to leave the office... terrible terrible.. many hidden cost.. what website says is something else.
Don’t waste your money
Terrible service !! Miles from airport had to wait ages for shuttle, then had to wait over two hours because no car!! Missed our appointment! We were not only ones waiting because no cars. A terrible company and poor service and filthy Toilets, flew from interstate and missed what we flew for!! Every other person in reception also not happy because of lengthy delays. Why take bookings if no cars? Never use them again. Cheap maybe but cheap service. Old saying you get what you pay for.

Excellent Vehicle Rental Company
We are a family of two adults with three children under the age of 8 years. When we booked the car, we were very hesitant in if it would be big enough for us as the example showed a hatch. However we were pleasantly surprised that the vehicle we received was the sedan version of the make and model we booked, which had more than enough room for all our luggage, and the back seat was wide enough for all three child seats.

Very straight forward transaction
Firstly I have to admit that I am a bit suspect using this company due to lots of negative reviews popped out when you search on google. However, my experience with their office in Launceston is pretty good. There is no hassle and customer service is excellent. I will keep using them for my next trips which will be Adelaide and Gold Coast. I am pretty sure I will be getting the same high level of service from them. Well done

They left us stranded at the airport and didn't care
We (a family of 4) arrived at Brisbane airport in the evening and phoned the numbers given to get their shuttle to take us to their depot. None of the phone numbers worked, We tried on our mobile phone, on the airport payphone, we asked the I-site person, he found some other numbers and he tried them too with no success. We looked in the shuttle pick up area, no shuttle, we kept trying their numbers. We considered cancelling with them and finding a reliable company but then realised East Coast Rentals would penalise us with a hefty cancellation...fee. After about an hour of trying to contact them and waiting for the shuttle that never came, we got a taxi to their depot. When we arrived there was no apology, they knew their phones weren't working, yet they had made no effort to pick us up or contact us. They knew we were arriving because they had our car waiting. They had just left us stranded and didn't care. They did refund us for the taxi. Then they told us we would be liable for thousands of dollars for any sort of damage, even if we didn't cause it, unless we paid for extra cover. We knew we were liable if we caused damage but were not aware that we would still be liable for so much even if we didn't cause it. They said it was in the terms and conditions. When we questioned this and asked them to point it out in the terms and conditions, the staff member was rude. She looked through the the terms and conditions and never did find it and show it to us where the liability is for no fault accidents. It seems to be well hidden, even they can't find it. By this time we were so tired and fed up, we felt we had no option but to pay the extra as we didn't want to risk being liable for $5000 if someone damaged our car. The car was dirty in places on the outside, hadn't been properly washed. The windscreen had smears and finger marks on the inside. After we had driven away we noticed the fuel wasn't totally full. We ended up paying $157 more in rental than we thought it would cost. After the nightmare of being stuck at the airport, unable to contact them, I would never book a company again that is not onsite at the airport. I would never use East Coast Rentals again.
Very pleasant company to deal with.
Booked a 1.8 Toyota Corolla for two days from East Coast Car Rentals - Surfers Paradise. Very friendly and helpful staff. Car was clean and tidy and the same vehicle as promised. Very competitive rates and staff were fantastic and pleasant to deal with.. Very good customer service. Would highly recommend West Coast Car Rentals.
Easy and affordable!
We had a great experience with East Coast rentals! When our flight was delayed and our previous rental booking didn’t hold our vehicle East Coast made it easy and clear to find something immediately.
We were so relieved that the staff, shuttle and service were all easy and affordable even last minute.

How much does it cost to take out insurance when renting a car
We paid for insurance with the booking which was with a 3rd party, East Coast Rentals then tried to sell insurance to my husband again. I have worked in Travel so understood that we had already paid for it. It appears the staff are on commission for insurance sold so don't really care if you pay it twice. We had to leave a credit card guarantee with East Coast Rentals which is released when the car is returned without damage.
Does anyone have experience with the Hobart branch? Our flight times are 12.50 pm Friday & 1.30 pm Monday so I'm hoping there is little traffic plus their location is very close to the airport. I'm mostly concerned as I'm taking some elderly family members on a short holiday and was aiming to use their shuttle for myself and to pick up / drop off the other passengers from the airport. Am a little concerned the age/condition of their people movers.
