Ecosmart solar hot water electric tank
This system was a total disaster from the beginning.
Costing over $4,500. with a government rebate of about $1,500 it has cost us more money than any non solar system would even come close to costing!!!
The 2 frost valves on the roof required replacing every six months each at a cost of approx $140 each.
We lost heaps of water when they began leaning until we realised each time. Costing probably several thousands of dollar's over several years
The system 7.5 years later has now totally destroyed itself. 6 months out of warranty shocking the government give rebates on this junk system
Purchased in July 2021 for $4,800.00.

Nothing But Issues and Disappointment
Ecosmart Hot Water System was installed in Nov 2011. I was informed that the entire system had a 10 year warranty, this did not include the electronic panel located on the side of the water tank which only had a 12 month warranty. Since installation, I've had to replace four frost values in the first four years. Frost valves are located on the side of the roof panels and are easy to replace however, you are required to have a licensed plumber replace the valve which is a five minute job or you loose your warranty. that the part is covered, but you have to pay ($90) for the plumber. Frost valves are approx $150. I have now sorted that problem out by visiting an American web site with people having the same issue. Next the water pressure reducing valve located on the side of the water tank blocked up and we could not get any water of of shower head. Again I had to get a plumber or lose my warranty, this again cost me $90. The next issue was a year later when the system produced no hot water as the electrical wiring inside a panel on the front of the unit shorted out costing me another $120 for a licensed electrician. He informed me that that wiring job was done poorly in the first place. We have now had the system in place for six and half years and when we returned home after spending the day in Brisbane we found that the water tank had sprung a bad leak near the bottom (water was squirting out of the tank). Thank god the tank is still under warranty (7 years) so I get a new replacement for free. (Yahoo) However, I've been informed that it's only the tank that is covered by warranty, I have to pay for the plumber and electrician when the new one arrives to be installed. To me a warranty should cover all costs, not just parts. This thing cost me $7,500 to install in the first place. The old electrical hot water system was in place for 13 years and I never had one issue with it. This ecosmart solar was installed to save me money, it's been nothing but a nightmare since installation and has cost me a lot of money. If you want my advice, stick with a normal electrical hot water system. I now await to see what next can go wrong with this marvel that was supposed to save me money. Final advice.....do your homework before you buy.

Nothing but disappointment
In 2009 I decided to give a reasonably new product a go when I purchased my solar hot water system. It has been a big mistake! To cut a long story short, I have had had ongoing problems. In 2015 Ecosmart supplied another roof mounted tank under warranty after the foam expanded and the ends popped off and the tank was also leaking. The labour for the replacement of the tank was of course at my expense. After another roof inspection in July 2017, less than 2 years later, the tank is again leaking! and solar panel as a result of the leaking over the years. I just want to get this tank off my roof. I am so over this hot water system, and in less than 8 years after such a huge outlay for this system, I have to purchase an alternative at great expense. Don't buy Ecosmart and do your research.
