I have a 21 yr old 39lt Engel that works fine. Problem is that it drains power from the battery even when the fridge is turned off. If I unplug the lead from the fridge there is no drain, but when it’s connected there is. Any ideas.

How do you adjust the latches?
2 answers
They are Screwed in no problem, identical .
You can remove shims under the latches. In my case it was the 2 door stopper buttons were missing on one side of the latch, even though it was brand new fridge. Engels after sales service, their contracted technicians were just hopeless overall.

How do I change? Polarity on my fridge
1 answer
Well simply put, you don’t. You will do irreparable damage to the circuitry in the fridge and void any residual warranty.

Who many amps dose the mr40f draw in ac I can only see .05 / 2.75 in dc?

hi Tony i just looked on my fridge yes it is amps and the max draw is 2.75 amps eg when it cuts in good luck Brian
No idea to be honest, but runs on nothing ! I use 100ah battery 150 w solar panel .self sustaining !
The only criticism is that noisy when motor kicks in, but u get used to it .Draw on mains is insignificant .
Those figures are correct and based on continuous use over a 24 hour period average. When the fridge kicks in it may go as high as 4-5 but that is only while the fridge compressor is running and then goes back to 0. Don, if your fridge compressor is noisy you really should get it serviced as it should be pretty quiet.

why have the hinges and brackets for the clips on the lid of the Eclipse, have plastic packers under them, they are not shown in the owners guide, should they be removed?
2 answers
Leave them there. It’s best not to disassemble your fridge in any way or you may void the manufacturers warranty. The spacers are there to ensure that the clips are correctly aligned and the fridge retains its seal.
HI i think you should leave them there for the propper seal. but if not sure just ring engel they will tell you or were you got it from good luck Brian

How do you know if the engle fuse has blown?
2 answers
If your fridge will only work on 240v then you may have blown a fuse in the 12v cigarette lighter plug. If it doesn’t work at all then I’d get it in for a service. There may be, depending on the fridge, a second fuse near where the power lead plugs in the fridge. You would have received a spare fuse when purchased but if not then go down to a reseller in your area and pick up one just in case.
hi there i had a look and there is a fuse were the plug goes in thr fridge . Juat take it out and have a look it is a blade type fuse .All so if you have a plug for car the fuse is in the tip of plug unsrew and it will be there if that one has blowen it is a special engel fuse see how you go good luck Brian

My mr40 didn't work on 12 volt, I have power to the plug and the fuse above the plug is fine but only 6 v at the fuse. Help?

Try changing your plug over to an Anderson plug. It might be that you are getting a poor connection at the actual plug that is preventing your fridg from getting a good connection.
Hi iam not sure but you might need a new lead have you tryed the one that runs 240v ? good luck Brian
Thanks guys, no shortage of power so I removed the electrical system to find it hard a burnt Diode, I tried to get a replacement card but to my disappointment found Engle will only supply components to their authorised repairers and they must do the repair. Would cost 1/2 the price on a new fridge so I opted to put it back together and run it on 240v using an inverter.

Hello,I have a Engel I think model MT27F,it's an older grey one, been working good however now just hums on 12 volt and wont cool, nothing at all on 240 v,the green light lights up on both 12 and 240,any idea what the problem is?
Thanks.
2 answers
Hi Stan it should run with out problems that hum sounds like the compressor is not cutting in it might of given up and you need a new fridge but if you take it to a engel rep they could tell you more it could be a simple fix like a compassator that kicks the fridge into life iam only guessing good luck Brian
It sounds like your power source may be on its way out. I would suggest to stop using the fridge into it can be assessed to prevent any further damage. Go into the Engel website and find your local service agent and book it in for assessment. They will be able to tell you the repair cost and then you can decide if it is a viable option for a repair or replacement.

Hi please help
I have an Engel stand-up refrigerator in my campervan and when camping I alternate between 220v Ac and 12v Dc power supply depending on what’s available .
Either way the compressor runs for 15 mins and pauses for 3mins the entire time. Its a problem when I’m running off the deep cycle battery as it gets run down to less than 10v overnight and then I find that a whole days driving will not bring it back up to 12,4 v
Is it normal for the fridge to run virtually non stop as I find that my Engel deep freeze behaves the opposite.
2 answers
Hi Julian iam not sure but how much room does the fridge have around it to get good air flow eg not in a big steel closed tool box they dont like that any time . if it has good venelation there could be fine dust and fluff bulit up on the compressor and coils of the unit just try air compressor to gently blow the fine dirt out if there is any . You are right the other ones hardly run at all good luck Brian
Thanks Brian. The cabinet surrounding the built-in fridge has only 2x75 mm vents on the exterior of the vent.I should consider putting in additional
vents or one large one.I will remove the unit and give it a gentle dusting.

I have ordered a engel mr40f fridge freezer, can i run it on a 90ah battery, not in car but at campsite, and do i need another cord other than supplied.e.g allagator clips?,i will be getting a solar blaket to top up battery, just wondering if it as simple as running lead from fridge to battery?
4 answers
Yes, it actually is that simple. just plug it in to your 12v battery and away you go.
HI Glen I belive so i have seen it done at camping grounds all around oz with a good size solar panel . I have never tryed it as the fridge i have just get pluged into diffrent utes and car i got . we have poeple come and stay at our place and they leave a old car hear and they put a panel on to the battery while away for a few weeks at a time and it works fine in that case so you can only try good luck thanks Brian
Thankyou!

My fridge is shutting off and restarting every time I slide it in or out . Have tried a new cord but still does it any ideas why?
3 answers
Try it also on 220v and see if it still does it by jiggling the cord. If not it might be a loose connection in the fridge 12v socket. This will require technical assistance so you don’t damage the fridge. Look on the Manufacturer website for a local repairer.
it looks like a loose wire there some were if it only happens when you move it on the slide . Have you tryed useing the power cord for the 240 volt at home ? If that dosent work there might be something loose inside the unit thanks Brian
Thanks
