clean out trap with soapy water thouroughly before refilling

published

hi just to clarify
i was incorrect about the formula not working. I have contacted the manufacturers and there was no change in the formula.

it appears that not fully cleaning out the bait trap before reuse can cause the forumla to not work.

i will try to update my review to 5 stars

Wasps yes- flies no!

published

This trap has successfully caught wasps, but we have had no success with flies which are in plague proportions and our reason for purchasing this product. It appears that much of the active ingredient has settled to the bottom. It has been out in direct sun as per directions, we have now changed the location- to see if we can achieve success. Very disappointing!

Fantastic product. Really works.

published

I've been using these fly traps for a couple of weeks and are definitely noticing a reduction in Flys. We live on a country property and have them hanging around the house and in the horse stable. Amazing. They are full of Flys. I have tried other products and made my own. Nothing works as well as this.

Whats gone wrong

published

I have had great experience with using this fly attractant but lately it just goes a brown colour and there are no flies in the container. I have been using this for years and it works very well but lately not even a fly enters the jar. What has happened.

Say Hello to My Little Friend

published

I despise flies.

This product works so well, I'm excited to go see the gruesome jar each day.

Put sachet in jar.... fill with half cup of water... screw on top.... put in sun. Works every time.

It really doesn't smell that bad. it, Kind of flatulent, but not crazy. Gee, some people are making out like it's the worst thing in the world. I don't know... maybe don't put it at your door or window. There's a thought.

There is thousands upon thousands of flies and maggots after a couple of weeks. Far, far less around the property.

Not many flys are in the house

published

I emptied my fly trap today and it was full of dead flies and also live maggots, is that normal. It is a good product though and there,s no smell either.

It used to work, but the last lot was a dud...

published

I've used the fly attractant for a number of years and it was fantastic in the past, however, the last lot I bought in about November last year does nothing at all. My Dad bought some around the same time, and that lot doesn't work either. He has also been buying it for years because it was so effective. What's changed?

Nothing Better than this for the flies..

published

Had it out yesterday and today in the hot sun. Theres approximately 50+ flies caught in it. A larger container with more weight would have been much better as its tought to keep it out specially with pets around.

Fly obituary

Envirosafe fly traps are the best product I have ever seen for trapping and killing flies. The directions state that the trap should be renewed every 2 - 3 weeks, I have emptied it three times in that period of time. I consider it such a great product that I went and bought 2 more for around the house. I would have no trouble in recommending this product to anyone.

Works very well

This summer put out one large bottle and it was full of fly's in 3 weeks. Purchased refill and it is doing its job second round this summer. I would recommend any person with fly problems to use this product. My opinion is that every household should put one out and it will help to reduce the fly menace.

Caught on the fly.

published

Being on property, we have several of the traps around the place. They work a treat. I sat on the front porch yesterday eating lunch, about 3 flies came around, the rest were hanging around the trap which is about 5 metres away. To empty the traps and get rid of the dead flies, I've found an ants nest is a great disposal. Only thing disappointing, is that the plastic tends to get brittle after about 6 months.

The original formula was amazing. The new sachet refills do not work.

published

I bought 5 of the containers with a paper sachet already inside to be used. This caught so many flies it was very very impressive. I'm talking hundreds in each container. I bought the refills from Bunnings that come in a plastic sachet. These must be a new formula because they are useless, lucky to attract 1 or 2 flies. And far too expensive for something that doesn't work. I'll be looking online to find a alternative or a DIY. Buy for the container, but the new formula refills are useless and a waste of money.

We now have three (3) Jumbo catchers and they are devastating the fly population. During the warmer weather I have to change the contents every 2 weeks. I would like to make it every 3 weeks, but early days yet. Excellent product will recommend it to anybody who has a fly problem

Works!

published

These traps are great, they work well. The only issue, as others have stated, is the smell that comes out of them after a few days. So much so that instead of cleaning them out, we threw them out and bought new ones. I soon realised the best way around this is to put a plastic bag in the trap, mix up the solution and tip it in the bag, then screw the lid on. Then when full, you can just take the bag out, tie it up and throw it out with minimal gagging, and start again!

Pathetic now that the formula has changed

published

Used to swear by these traps, however as stated by previous post, someone in their infinite wisdom has changed the formula in the foil satchels and its now useless ! The powder initially mixes as green, then after 2 days turns a murky brown /red and does nothing. I have had to resort to fly papers to keep the peace. Definitely a rip-off now considering the 3 refills are about $10.
Will not buy this product again.

How soon do joy empty them. What is the best method of disposing of the flies and bait once they are full?

My joint was infested because of the neighbours dairy herd. When it was bad a couple months back, emptied daily, now roughly weekly. I tip it into the compost (home compost not council one). They really stink to attract the flies so if you are going to bin the contents you should double bag it or you are going to gag at the smell of your bin after a few days.

Empty down the toilet works well - wash out in hot water then refill with the refill kit from Bunnings
