Was good now it's not
For a couple of years this fly trap worked extremely well, trapping thousands of flies. The attractant came in a paper packet, was green and stayed green for a long time. The attractant now comes in a plastic packet, starts off green then turns red and doesn't attract any flies at all. Something has changed with the attractant, It doesn't even smell bad like the other stuff. $13 is a steep price to pay for something that doesn't work.

Come into my parlour said the trap to the fly .........
From the first day I hung this out under the verandah it sucked them in so to speak.
Tried all the hanging sticky baits to no avail and decided to look here for some good ol' alternative experiences.
Now we can prepare the dog food and not have the blowies hangin' around the back door trying to get in at their first opportunity, obviously the attractant is more pleasing to them than the smell of cooking meat.
The only time I get a whiff of it is when I take it down to replenish the bait or top up the water when it evaporates a little.
It's good to buy something for a change that works well and exceeds your expectations.

What smell?
Great product. 5/5.
Some complain about the smell. If you are honest you can admit that each of us is capable of making just as rich an aroma every day!
Close to the house it can be a bit disconcerting. So I fid sspme research of my own, not years, two days.
Two traps.
The one down the garden using the commercial atttactant. No smell in the house.
The other trap right at the back door. This one containing a tablespoon of baker"s yeast, a few teaspoons of sugar and a cup of warm water. No objectionable smell and it caught as m...Read more
any flies as the commercial preparation. Mainly the annoying sticky little buggers. And I would like to know what No Go (see above) eats that was more attractive to flies than the commercial attractant. Maybe he/she could sell the recipe to envirosafe.

Very effective
Living in central Queensland means flies are an unavoidable part of our life, winter or summer. Outdoor entertaining in summer is often difficult because of the volume and insistence of the flies. My father made a homemade trap years ago which I remembered reduced the volume significantly - so I grabbed two traps when I saw them. Wow. They're due to be emptied for the second time in 1.5 weeks and are Full almost to the top. Disgusting to empty but wonderful to see what's been captured . A disposable bottom would be wonderful and make emptying easier - that's my only suggestion. Thank you!

Love what it does
We were having trouble with blowflies in the house as we live with a few chooks goats and cattle (not in the house tho). From 5 to 20 blowflies would manage to get inside each day. Put a trap outside, nothing happened for a couple of days. Then the trap started filling up with flies and no blowflies were in the house for 6 days. I topped up the trap with water occasionally so there was more liquid there to smell. Filled the trap to a few cm short of the top in just over a week. Definitely working well.
Deciding to empty the thing wa...Read more
s an issue. Where do I do it? It also had an amount of maggots in it and a few living flies. When I did empty it absolutely putrid smell. Felt sick. would love to see this made with a somehow disposable container where the contents and container can go straight into the garbage without being handled or smeltSimilar opinion? Works but keep away from doors with smell.
I found that because were I live in the country have a lot of flies, the baits are a bit pricey so I ended up putting a piece of meat the size of 20 cents with bit water in the container and found this works just as good as the baits as they go for rotting meat. I found that if you place it half way down the yard better for no smells near the house and got so many flies in and just emptied and redid. The jar is plastic and don't last more than a year so I unscrewed the lid and it fitted on a glass jar and hung it up on a pergola and again put b...Read more
it meat this time chicken piece and bit water so the meat doesn't dry out and again works, so you could make your own bait to put in the jar after you use all the baits that come in the container. Don't put the container where children or dogs can touch so hanging up is best.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Extremely Effective but the smell is unbearable.
It will attract and capture as many flies as it can fit inside, however the smell is unbearable. Even my neighbour complained about it.

Cant stand the smell
In terms if catching flies its wonderfull, but the smell we had it out for 5 days, full of flies but after searching around for a dead animal we realised the smell came from the trap! Conclusion it traps the flies but the overpowering smell is too hard to deal with

Aussie flies are one of a kind
I purchased this product over the 2014 Christmas period - it definitly shows you how many flies are lurking around but in regards to trying to keep the flies from sitting on you ( I put mine underneath our covered back porch) it doesn't work - Australian flies have and will always be the worst pests ever ! the only non sitting fly solution I've found so far are the mortein outdoor automatic sprayers - I really wished this product had worked better though :(

Awesome product
We live in the wheatbelt in WA on a farm and we had an awful time with flies, I could not cook anything at all until the sun went down.
We bought two of these enviro traps and we have not had a fly trying to get into the house since, they are filling so fast and just working beyond all belief that we are also going to get a few more and keep them going all year round, never know we might end up doing the whole state a favor.... Everyone should use them.

Its an expensive way to go!!!!!!!!
From the almost $9 you pay for the plastic bottle trap, which probably cost 50 cents to manufacture,to the trap refills at almost $8 for 3 sachets,WOW,somebody is geting rich considering the flies we have in okker land.!!
Sure the combination works very well,I dont argue about that, but at what price?
Here I have alternatives!!
Fot the exorbitant $8 dollars you pay for the pack of 3 attractant refills,go buy $8 worth of prawns, any type any size, fresh or frozen.
Have a beer, and Eat the prawn meat, enjoy, and save the the head, shell and tail....Read more
Next day,Put the head shell and tail into the fly trap,or traps, with some water, and I guarantee the trap will be filled with flies in just a couple days. Money saved, and U had a nice feed of prawns.,OK! Next option if U MUST buy the expensive envirosafe attractant, buy the Jumbo replacement pack of refills,,and use just 1 third or half a sachet to refill you standard size trap.save maybe 40%, works fine, but at what price Expensive1 comment

Unbelievable!!!
We have a fly problem at Mission Beach, Qld so thought we'd give your fly traps a go. OMG! within 30 minutes we had more then an inch of flies in the liquid and more swarming in. So off to our daughters house in Weipa, Qld, took 2 fly traps with us (we knew the flys were bad their) 7 days later the traps have only an inch to go and not another fly can fit in. We are so happy with the traps that we've taken photos and sent to heaps of our friends that have fly problems. You definitely have 2 very, very happy customers.
They worked immediately and inexpensive
The smell, which we can handle

Amazingly effective, and disgusting.
We hung this fly trap up 11 days ago as our chicken pen was attracting flies. This little trap is now about 8cm deep with flies. It smells awful when you get near it, it works a treat. I am dreading cleaning it. It is said to need cleaning and refilling after 3 to 4 weeks.
Preparation was simple: mix the powdered attractant with water, swish it and hang in direct sunlight out of the wind.
After about a day the flies started to arrive. We watched with horror and fascination as fly after fly became trapped. I haven't seen any fly out again....Read more
The design seems sound. The powder is apparently non toxic and pet safe, and the waste can make good compost. The trap itself is quite simple and made of a clear plastic similar to a food jar, not overly sturdy. It might crack after a season. At $10 it won't break the bank to replace it. Refills of the powder are available. Works very, very well. It's disgusting.4 comments
9 months later and it's time to get these things going again. The trap grew maggots for some reason, which was feral, but the flies didn't escape. Cleaning it wasn't as awful as expected. I will definitely be using them again this summer.
Much better trap is Red Top Fly Catchers, bigger lasts longer, much less work! Some are disposable, much better!

Essential equipment
The product is easy to set up, works perfectly and low maintenance.
Prior to installing this outside the back door under the verandah, in warm windy weather we were pestered by flies, although there was no food nearby. We would not be without it now,
Efficient, not expensive

How soon do joy empty them. What is the best method of disposing of the flies and bait once they are full?
2 answers
My joint was infested because of the neighbours dairy herd. When it was bad a couple months back, emptied daily, now roughly weekly. I tip it into the compost (home compost not council one). They really stink to attract the flies so if you are going to bin the contents you should double bag it or you are going to gag at the smell of your bin after a few days.
Empty down the toilet works well - wash out in hot water then refill with the refill kit from Bunnings
