Ok, but not a must have item
I love carrying my 8month old up and close, but when I wear her on my front, the straps slip off my shoulders when she wriggles. 'Ah!!" You say, "just use the clasp to clip it together, and the straps will stay in place!" But if you're on your own it's very awkward to do because the clasp is on the side and my arms won't bend that far!
I like wearing her on my back, but if she isn't in a very compliant mood, or is a bit wriggly, it feels insecure trying to get her in the carrier. It would be nice if I could lay her in it first and actually d...Read more
o some kind of strap around her before I then try to lift her onto my back. In essence, this carrier is great when there are two people, one to act as a 'spotter' or to do that clasp up, and frustrating if you're on your own.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Perfect, loved it.
I love the stowaway because it was lighter and not as bulky and hot. It was also excellent to fold up as it fits into a tiny bag. Great for carry on the front and back, both my bubs up to 2 years old. I live in the tropics so I wanted something that wasn't hot. Bub was very comfortable. Very easy on and off and very easy to adjust. Great all round, no complaints at all.

A great first structured carrier.
I loved my Ergo Original. It is quick and easy to use and good for front and back carrying. I like the fact it has a zippered section at the front. However, I did find the straps a bit bulky, and the back panel isnt as high as other ergos or carriers.

Love it and can carry baby for hours
Although it says that it needs the infant insert, I didn't use it at all for my newborn. Baby was 58cm long at 1.5 months old. Best investment for baby as I get hands free to do other things around the house. Baby loves it and sleeps in it most of the time. After adjusting the straps to suit my body with the help of my partner, I can now put the baby in the carrier by myself. I'm 156cm tall. It is very easy to use. I use it around the house and when I go out. The snap buckle makes it very easy to put baby on the bed asleep, not like the older v...Read more
elcro model. Very comfortable, baby's weight is distributed over the waist band and shoulder straps. I can use it for 5 to 6 hours at a go. Haven't tried longer than that just yet. No straining of my wrists and no back aches! Love this product! Have not tried washing it. I just wipe milk dribbles with the cloth immediately. Have been using it for one month.Similar opinion? Frustrating to put on!Waste of money!
Rushed out to buy one to relieve us from carrying bub but I can't believe how difficult it is to put on. It is frustrating using the newborn insert, it takes two of us to set it up by which time bub is screaming her head off :( Got sick of it so it sits in the cupboard and have only used it once. The belt around waist is not the most comfortable either especially after having a caesarian!

Lifesaver.
I use two carriers. This one, and the Moby wrap. This is by far, the most convenient carrier I have ever used, and I have used a fair assortment of them. I can carry her comfortably on my front, side, or back for very long periods of time. She falls asleep almost immediately in it. There's also a large pocket in the front to conveniently place your phone, money, pacifier, or anything else. It's super easy to put on and adjust when I'm by myself. The only thing bad that I can say is that it made me a little nervous using this when she was a newborn. She slouched down and couldn't set her legs right. She's 5 months now and this thing could not be any better, I don't think.

Perfect
I wasn't going to worry about having a baby carrier, but I'm so thankful I bought one, I absolutely love this Carrier it's easy to put on, baby is very comfortable in the insert as he's only 8 weeks old he falls asleep, the extra fabric in the front is great for providing shade or blocking out wind over the baby's head just snaps on to the shoulder strap, it's comfortable to wear and the pocket in the front is great for wallet and keys so no handbag needed during shopping, this is a great product.

Parenting staple
The ergo carrier is perfect for our lifestyle. We now have three kids under 5. We have the sport version and the standard. One was made specially for tall people which my husbands loves. They both carry a weight up to 20kg. Handy for us because we go on long walks and at some point our three year old gets tired and needs a lift. It is a challenge to get the baby on the back but with practice you get there, if not there should be a helping hand to get the baby on there. We have had them for four years now and taken them everywhere as they have b...Read more
een integral on our travels. Very durable. We have recommended the ergo carrier to friends and family. All kids were comfortable in the infant capsule when they were little. Easy to store when not using. We find that it is a great alternative to a pram if you. Sometimes prams are not suitable in crowded areas. With bush walking, sometimes you don't want to carry those oversize carriers with metal reinforcement. Couldn't fault it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

hurt baby's hips
I used this carrier with my first baby, and it went well, however I am ringing with bub #2 that it is hurting her hips. She is currently 6.5kg and 4 months. I am finding that I need to use the baby bjorn instead until she gets a bit bigger. A bit disappointing having to invest in 2 separate carriers.

Love it and so does bubba ERGOBABY ORIGINAL WITH NEWBORN INSERT
I used this from week 2 with my LO and he still loves it at 5 months. I used it with the insert until he was about 5.5kg (as it specifies) but Im still using the bum cushion as it holds him higher so he can see a bit more. He chews on the strap now (he is teething) which is annoying as I was it a lot so Im looking at getting a strap cover made for him to suck on instead. So easy to put on and take off although I did watch a youtube video tutorial as I wanted to be sure I was doing it right

You can't have it all
We bought this as an extra carrier when we had our second. We also have an Ergobaby Performance, which we are very happy with. The stowaway was appealing because it could fold into such a small size, perfect for keeping in the stroller, and taking while travelling. It worked well for me (158cm tall) when my sone was 8weeks old up to around 7 kg (7 months). Then it became too much strain on my shoulders because of the narrow, flimsy straps. I tried wearing my now 10kg son at the shops today and within 20 min I was feeling the strain! My 3 year o...Read more
ld daughter, while even now comfortable in our Performance (I barely notice her when on my back!) can't even fit in this one on my back - the back panel is too short for her to sit comfortably (she is a small 3 year old) and the chest strap chokes me as it cannot go low enough! My 180cm tall husband has never been able to use this carrier comfortably for either of our children as there is not enough length for him to wear. Pros - light weight - folds into itself..very small - washable ConsSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The carrier is pretty good, but there are better around !
I bought the ergobaby original after realising that bubs likes being carried. I have not used the infant insert, just the pillow to lift the baby a tad higher. It was horrible, would move around and not stay where I originally put it. Thankfully, bubs grew out of it and could sit in the carrier directly.
Pros:
-Keeps the baby in the perfect froggy leg position;
-Sits well on my shoulders, has nice amount of padding;
-Happy baby, though never slept in it.
Cons:
-The body of the carrier is too short, does not support the baby well enough, ...Read more

Comfortable to use, baby loves it.
I was passed down an ergo baby after a few failed attempts of other brand carriers.
My baby loved it and fell asleep in it after the first 5 minutes of use.
Great to use when in a crowded place or to settle an unsettled baby.
It did take a bit to get use to fastening the back buckle once baby was in it.
Only downside is that she out grew front way use and didn't like being on my back.

Wouldn't be able to go anywhere without it!
Brought Ergobaby Standard Bundle which included the infant insert on sale at Babies R Us! I have a 2yo daughter and was pregnant with my second. We opted not to get double pram but instead get carrier for the youngest and get my 2yo to ride in pram or on trike depending what we are doing. This worked a treat! Even when my daughter wasn't riding in the pram we still used Ergobaby over the pram. My son was very unsettled so not only did we use it when we went out but also around the house. He loved it. I did find it a little challenging to put on...Read more

Wonderful baby carrier
My daughter and I have been giving the carrier a good workout and I can see more babies in the future using it too. I suffer from severe back problems and have struggled with other baby carriers but this one is so comfortable and suits me brilliantly. Thank you Ergobaby.

HI Renae, thanks so much for your review. We get a lot of similar feedback regarding the comfort that the Ergobaby provides despite severe back problems, and we're glad to hear that it's worked so well for you.
Your welcome. That is great that other people with back problems are also having success with it.

Couldn't do without it - Best carrier I have used
After buying and trying different carriers (including Baby Bjorn, Natures Sway and home made slings) I was still left with a sore back and the feeling that the products I was using were hazardous for my baby when sleeping in them and the fact that she wouldn't stop crying was an indicator they were uncomfortable for her. Then I tried the Ergo (original model) and found that I used it during the day at home as well as out. I am using it for my second daughter now and it still looks as new as when I bought it. The construction is solid but not ov...Read more
erly heavy; its easy to clean and stuff under the buggy for when bubs has had enough and wants to be carried. While I wouldn't recommend wearing it for hours and hours at a time, it has proved to be more comfortable than any other I have tried and I recommend this to all new parents. They are pricey so if you know a friend who has one then try it out first; if you want an investment you can use for years (turns into backpack) then I recommend an Ergo. Comfortable, promotes correct hip position, dad looks cool in it too, lightweight but solid, babies love them Expensive1 comment

Awesome product. Comfy for Mum and bub.
I had been using a borrowed original Ergobaby carrier and decided to buy the 360 so that my son could look out. The hip positioning for him is excellent and I wouldn't consider any other brands that face out due to their bad positioning. He is extremely happy and comfortable in all the positions. I am finding the carrier much more comfortable than the original as well with no more back pain and the straps sit a lot better so that they don't rub on my arms. The only small negative I can find is that it lacks storage for keys, bank card, etc as I like to not need to carry a bag when using the carrier.
Excellent hip positioning for baby. Comfortable for both of us. Easy to adjust between different positions.
No storage.

Good for babies 4 months and over
Bought this with a newborn insert, and for the life of me I couldn't get my newborn daughter into it in such a way that she was comfortable. I watched the YouTube vids and even emailed customer services for help. While they were very helpful, it still didn't work as my daughter had quite long legs and wasn't comfortable with them folded up against me. Spent $50 on the insert and used it once or twice just to trial it - unfortunately baby pooped in it and I couldn't return it!!
I ended up purchasing a Baby Bjorn model which I used for when s...Read more
he was small, and began using the Ergo Baby once she hit about 4 months and was able to have her legs splayed out either side of my hips. It is certainly better for my comfort and also more supportive for my daughter as her weight is distributed more evenly. Other than that, this carrier is great for its purpose, folds up reasonably compact and is simple to use. It is more comfortable on my back and shoulders than the Baby Bjorn. The sleeping hood looks quite large and I feel like it is probably a bit too big, but other than that I like the carrier. I'm in a hot climate and the fabric is quite light and easy to clean. I bought the Stowaway so that it wouldn't be cumbersome to travel with (we do a bit of air travel), and whilst at home so I could pop it into the stroller or handbag just in case - and it is perfect for that purpose. I have now had a sling, a Baby Bjorn and this Ergo Baby and my advice would be to use a sling/Baby Bjorn for newborns and skip buying the newborn insert (or at least try it before you buy). However, in my opinion as your baby grows the Ergo Baby is definitely the best of the three. Light durable fabric, folds down small for packing, comfortable and easy for both me and baby once she was 4 mths + Wasn't comfortable for my newborn, sleeping hood seems a bit looseSimilar opinion? Hi - is it possible to front carry bub forward facing in this carrier
1 answer
Yes but only when the baby's neck is strong enough. Maybe from at least 4 months old onwards depending on how strong your bub is.
Matt and Saraasked
I’ve been given an Ergobaby carrier but it’s an old one so I have no idea which model it is and if I need to buy an insert for it. The only information I have is that it’s red and has the old Ergobaby logo. Any help?
1 answer
Karrie H.Ergobaby
Hi Matt and Sarah - due to the carrier being older and having the old Ergobaby logo you will need an insert to wear your baby from newborn (3.2kg). If you want to be 100% sure before you purchase the infant insert please feel free to send a picture of the carrier to [email protected] and our team can verify your carrier make and also help you to purchase an insert.
Our carriers are made to last so we hope that you and your baby will make many happy memories in your 'new' Ergobaby carrier!

Help me decide between buying the ergobaby Omni 4 positions or the ergobaby Omni cool mesh... friends have offered to combine and buy us one of these but I have no idea how to work out which would suit us best!?
We have a newborn, live in Sydney, to be used by myself (average size) and my husband (6’2” and history of back problems). Thanks!

Karrie H.Ergobaby
Hi Alana, Congratulations on the birth of new bub, very exciting times for you and your family. Thankyou for choosing Ergobaby as your carrier of choice. What a generous offer from your friends - an Ergobaby carrier is definitely a great gift idea!
To answer your question, both the Omni 360 and the Omni 360 Cool Air essentially work the same. However, the biggest difference is the type of fabric they are made from. We would describe the Omni Cool Air as a great all season carrier as it is made from a moisture wicking fabric as well as being designed with mesh panelling. This ensures that the Omni Cool Air is a carrier which will help keep yourself and baby cool in the Summer months. A lot of our Ergobaby parents describe the Omni Cool Air as being more comfortable to wear throughout summer.
As with any new product bought into the market there are always tweaks, adjustments and improvements made on exsisting designs. The Omni Cool Air is the newer of two to hit the shelves. So whilst the fabric is the main difference between the two, the Omni Cool Air has been designed with an improvement to the way you are able to change the carrier from facing baby in to facing baby out. We have replaced buttons with easy to use sliders. Some of our Ergobaby parents find these easier to adjust than using the buttons.
In regard to the difference in height between yourself and your husband, this won't be an issue with whichever Ergobaby carrier you choose. Both are designed to be easily adjusted to fit all body types. We have a collection of YouTube videos you can watch online which will give you a clear instructions on how to adjust the carrier to be the right fit for each of you.
Hoping this helped you make your decision. Our biggest piece of advice would be to go into one of our authorised retailers and try each of the carriers on with bub. This way you will be able decide which one feels like the right one for you and your husband. Good luck with your decision.
