What would happen if you did face your child outwords in the ergo baby original?
Hi Jesse, Thanks for contacting us to find out the correct information on facing baby outwards. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original is not recommended at all. The Ergobaby Original carriers are only 3 position carriers and they aren't designed to support a baby in an outward facing position. The structure of the carrier simply doesn't allow for it. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original will put baby's hips in a compromised position. The baby will sit too wide in the seat pushing their legs too far apart which in turn will put undue pressure on their hips. We definitely advise NOT to face baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original.
If you are looking for a carrier in which baby can face outwards, please look at our Ergobaby 360 range. These are the only Ergobaby carriers which will support baby in the correct ergonomic position whilst facing outwards.
I hope this has helped answer your question. Thanks again for contacting us via Product Review.
Hi, we are going to travel overseas and most likely will be carrying our 2.5 up she is 10 kg. We are wondering which ergo carrier will be best for the job. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance
Thankyou for getting in touch with us and for choosing an Ergobaby Carrier for your overseas travel adventures. What an exciting time for you and your family!
For travelling, and given the weight of your child now, I would suggest our Cool Air Adapt Carrier. This carrier will take up to 20kgs in weight which means you will get maximum use out of the carrier as your 2.5 year old grows. The Cool Air Adapt is made from the same fabric as Nike and Lorna Jane use in their activewear - it's basically designed to keep yourself and bub cool in warmer months whilst you are wearing the carrier. The other thing I love about this carrier for travel is that the type of fabric it is made out of is very comfortable for older babies whether you need it for warmer weather or not. The Adapt is a 3 position carrier meaning you can carry her on front facing toward you, on your hip and on your back. At 2.5 years of age the back carry becomes a popular choice both parents and child - it's fun and comfortable.
I hope that this has helped with your decision. Have fun on your travels!
Which style has the best back support for the carrier? I'm looking at 360 or performance
Honestly I'm not sure. I only really tried the Performance. When I looked at the fabrics the 360 seemed like it would be quite warm (I bought it in summer in Brisbane). But most stores are happy for you to try it on and put your baby in it (however that's not an option if the baby hasn't been born yet). The 360 let's you put the baby on the front and facing outwards and you can't do that with the Performance. The Performance you can wear on your back, hip, or front (all of which, the baby needs to be facing into your body and not outwards).
Overall the 360 is thicker in padding on shoulder hence feels more supportive than performance. Performance has higher weight carrying capacities of 20kg though.
Babes in Arms E.Ergobaby
The ergobaby 360 carrier has a wrap around waist band which many people find offers superior support. This carrier offers the baby a facing outwards carry position.
The ergobaby performance carrier has dense foam shoulders which are curved more like a hiking pack, which some people prefer. This carrier has mesh lining.
Both are really comfortable. Both are designed to have the load of the baby carried on the hips and not on your back or shoulders. Both are great carriers!
Hi please help me. I cant decide between the ergo original and ergo performance. Ive tried both on. The original being 18 months ago as i borrowed it and found it hot and uncomfy but maybe i didnt have it right. I jist tried the performance on and it was super comfy and bub fell asleep in it. Im so undecided. I love the pink cheveron pattern in the original and its cheaper but is the performance better and more comfortable? We will be taking it to fiji with us in nov too.
The performance and original are similar except that the performance is definitely lighter.
In my opinion the original would be too hot for Australian summer. Price wise the original is better but I prefered spending a bit more just to ensure I can use it all year long and not just 5 months.
We bought our performance second hand. It's definitely comfy, but of course you're carrying a baby so it will be a bit of pressure on your back as well as hot for both of you - you are body to body.
In terms of "look" - we just have a lime green coloured one... but after washing it looks near new, where I've found the originals I've seen seem faded.
Hi, I am deciding between this one Ergobaby Performance and the Four positions 360. Has anyone tried or tested out both? What's the difference between the two and which would you recommend?
I have the performance and when i bought it the 360 wasnt around. The performance is great for hot weather climates as it has breathable fabric. It also has a storage pocket for phone, keys etc however it doesnt do forward facing. The 360 has no pockets but it forward faces. It also has a velcro waistband as opposed to the clip buckle that the performance has. People find the velcro noisy & wakes bub when they take it off. Its a personal thing but if i was buying now i would still buy the performance for the breathable fabric, storage pocket and clip buckle aspects. Forward facing is only recommended for a short amount of time. My son is a big boy and at 15 months we are still using the performance with no dramas.
What colour is the hood on the True Blue Performance carrier?
Can the baby face outward in the carrier, and can it also be used to go on your back with child in it?
Does the black and charcoal performance carrier attract to much heat in Summer? I'm trying to decide what color to buy?
I have not used another colored carrier but have not found the black and charcoal covered fabric to be an issue with heat retention. The black and charcoal performance carrier has lighter, more breathable fabric than the standard carrier, possibly to overcome this issue.
I hope this has been helpful
